After the success of The Garfield treasury, a sort of sequel book was inevitable. So, this is The Second Garfield Treasury.
While not quite as good as the original, this book dishes up on plenty of laughs, with Garfield kicking, eating and sleeping
through his kitty-life (he finds time to get locked in a dog pound, however), but making sure to never forget to joke.
Recommended.
This has got to be the best treasury yet.

Aileen Campbells Wee Scot Book is one that kids from 1 to 100 years old will enjoy. As you read the ancient Doric script (along
with the English translation), your immediately wisked away to the Highlands of Scotland. The tape on which she reads her
poems and other verses as well as sings with accompanyists on the bagpipes and dulcimer, is perfect to listen to as you enjoy
her warm and beautiful watercolors that illustrate the words. A must have for anyone who enjoys a touch of good old fashioned
nursery rhymes whether your a Scot or not!
Good for Children of all ages!

Aileen Campbell, a native of Aberdeen, Scotland has collected and illustrated, as only she could, many familiar poems and
stories with deep roots in Scottish heritage. "Wee Willy Winky" and the like, put down with love and care by her hand will
live as long children need bedtime stories. This item is highly recommended for young parents and "young" grandparents alike
who want to pass along to their prodigy the favorite stories of their childhood. If you want to really get crazy, check out
her cassette version of the book...her beautiful, lilting Scottish brogue will aboslutely melt your heart

The Wee Scot is a beautiful book that, with its lilting poens and comforting illustrations, really captures the heart of Scotland. It
really made me fall in love with the country and my Scottish heritage. I would reccomend it for anybody who wishes to learn
about their heritage, or who wishes to visit Scotland but can't. This book is the next best thing.

Having first read this book in grade school, I bought it finally after I remembered the segment on Harriet Tubman and the
Underground Railroad which I needed for a paper in college. It presents the stories behind various different escapists throughout
history. The pictures and diagrams are of great quality as well. Overall, an excellent book that can both entertain and teach
you at the same time.

it not only has some of the prison escapes like from Alcatraz, Colditz, the escape of Winston Churchill, it also has turban,
the black woman who freed a huge number of slaves in america, the berlin wall, houndini, the guy who can escape from any
kind of locks, straitjacket. and more of course. it tells of how they escaped, their methods used, a lot of colourful
pictures of tools the captured used, and also maps showing the location of the prisons and where prisoners and slaves were
held.

I'm doing my student teaching in a master's program in Oregon. I'm in a school district that doesn't have set 'guidelines'
for what you teach and when you teach it so when my supervisor said I was going to teach 'literary genre', I was lost. I
researched the topic and quickly realized that it was a dry and boring topic that would need a lot of help. I found this
book online and thought it could work (even though it's geared toward 4-8 grade students, my 3rd and 4th graders did wonderfully).
I was amazed at how much information was stuffed into that book and how many reproducible-quality worksheets were available.
Nothing in the book was just 'so-so'- it was all fantastic and the kids LOVED the topic and the interesting and creative writing
assignments. Boy, just when I was at my wits end creatively speaking, in stepped this book (by scholastic, OF COURSE) and
saved me. Teachers and parents, this is a fabulous resource.

I had mixed feelings about reading this book. Finally, late one night, I managed to open the book to a random page and start
reading. I was sucked in. My own thoughts were expressed in ways I never thought possible. In many ways this is the best book
I have ever read. Soon I'll start to write a second book. -Shannon Wheeler

My older son picked up a copy of this graphic novel at a library book sale. It's been languishing around the house for a few
years. A week ago, it turned up on the kitchen table. On a lark, I picked it up and started reading it. I was immediately
sucked in.
While I'm not much on graphic novels, this one is well done. It's well drawn, the dialogue (and monologue) is first-rate, and the wit is, well, dripping.
I'm happy I read it -- I had a blast. Now I need another cup of coffee, I think. While I find the pot, you go find this book and read it.

A great read. I couldn't put it down, even when confronted by wild children and an irate spouse. TMCM does battle with the
contradictions and idiocy of everyday life, saves the men of Mars, screams at the dirty dishes, wanders about naked, and
leaves us with a sense of wonder (or is it wonderment?) at his nicotine and caffeine induced "super" powers. Wheeler's wry
social commentary aligns him with the likes of Outcault, Herriman, McKay and Bushmiller. TMCM is a sure antidote to drivel
like "Zippy" (not to mention the fact that it is far better drawn). Spare poor Shannon Wheeler the pain of seeing his work
ignored. Read this book. Write a review. Keep the pot fresh. The Guatman

Way back when this was released it completely changed my life. In later life I think I have a broader perspective, but it's
still in my pantheon. I enjoyed re-reading these interviews while listening to the extensive FREE interviews with Throbbing
Gristle available at the SavageRepublic and Mobilization places. It tells the story of a time that is gone now, as it was
decaying.

The W.S. Burroughs photo in this issue was the late Dr. Timothy's favorite of Bill Burroughs--the great one with the gun in
his hand. This alone is worth the price. Great photo, especially with the interview of Burroughs and the part about the murder
of wife Joan in Mexico City. "There are no accidents" Burroughs liked to say all the rest of his life, after the 'accidental'
shooting of Joan.

"You Can Draw Transforming Robots" is an excellent resource for the Amateur or Professional artist. This book thoroughly
examines almost all of the different types of Transforming Robots, from the unforgettable Optimus Prime Mack Truck to the
Valkyrie style Robots from the Macross Saga. Each type of Transforming Robot is broken down into its simple shapes, making
it easy to understand just exactly how the Robots Transform. Once you understand the Transformations of the Robots the book
then gradually adds detail to the Robot to show you the multiple levels of intricacy, until you see the robots final detailed
form. If you love Transforming Robots like I do, you will definitely want to pick up this book.

When I received the book and looked at it, all I could see are just boxes, page after page, BUT I WAS WRONG.
Drawing transformers are not simple, but after I read this book page after page, I realized that these boxes transformed into ROBOTS I dreamed to draw ... SO, this book is like the bible of understanding how to draw Transformers, the author are incredibly simplifying this amazing art...
My advice! It's for young and adults artist for sure.

I've purchased every English-language how-to draw manga book I could find pertaining to mecha. This one ranks near the top.
Some books I've seen give good instruction on the step-by-step of how to draw, but are lacking in inspired designs. Others have good art, but are lacking in teaching you the thought process and steps needed to render your own work-they're just showcases.
Jackson-sensei manages to accomplish both his roles as teacher and source of inspiration. The book includes everything from what equipment to buy to get started to how to add character and personality to a mech.
The book covers a tough subject: transforming robots. Yet it manages to convey its concepts clearly in a manner highlighted by beautiful art.
Mr. Jackson ought to get a job at Hasbro or Takara. His designs definitely follow a the "Transformers" design philosophy, yet are unique in their detailing. The transformations look like they really work too.
What made me happiest was the last page, which promises a forthcoming volume titled "You Can! Draw Mecha".

It's fun to sit back, read, and take a stroll down memory lane with some of the characters we haven't seen in a while in the recent strips. There's Lyman (Odie's master), Arlene (Garfield's sometime girlfriend), Nermal (the world's cutese kitten), and the veterinarian (the only human being to go out with Jon more than once).
"The Second Garfield Treasury" is a collection of Sunday comic strips from July 1980 through August 1982. In this collection you will see the evolution of the drawing of the characters into what we see today.
