Tibetan Folk TalesReview Date: 2006-07-26
The Tibetans' love of storytelling is reflected in these folk narratives including:
* The Tibetan myth of creation, and stories of the origin of important dieties and ancient rulers.
* Some of the famous Jataka tales, stories of former lives of the Buddha, illustrating his practical wisdom and universal compassion.
* Stories of the release of a hero from animal form. reminiscent of Western fables such as "The Frog Prince."
* The most popular of all the time-honored legends of Tibet, the great epic of King Gesar of Ling, the warrior who became a national hero. Here the story of his birth and ascension to sovereignty are presented. To this day, Gesar symbolizes the hope of Tibetans that their country will know the rule of a just leader in a free realm once again.
* Parables, proverbs, verses and riddles.
Gleaned from an ancient oral tradition, these imaginative, colorful wisdom-filled tales will delight children and adults alike.

Complete and respectfulReview Date: 2008-10-31
This book shows a very exhaustive and general vision of the history, meaning, styles and places where totem poles has been erected in the west coast.
As a first approach this text overpases the highest expectations, but after you've read it all you've also got a respectful, lovely and acceptance feeling about all the first people tribes. And that's a very good thing to have after reading such a great book.

As much as the rocket to the moon to have cheeze, this story with the submarine was so enjoyable. More Wallace and Gromit, please.

Find humor in the absurd;and we can all laugh.Review Date: 2004-08-23
If you've liked Art in the past, you'll enjoy this collection of his columns.Although published in 2003;there are a lot of old pieces dating back to 1991.His columns on everyday observations remain funny, but the political stuff has lost its luster. His columns on "Expert Witness" and "Suite Revenge" are typical of Art's wonderful humor.
Columns about Clinton,Starr,Lewinsky,Whitewater,Tripp,Gore and others make pretty dull reading today.Even Viagra humor is becomming dated.
Maybe what we can see from this book is that we have lost a lot of the good wit and humor we enjoyed in the days of Skelton,Carney&Gleason,Bunker,Carson,Laurel&Hardy,Hope, etc. These artists didn't have to resort to vulgarity and personal attack to get a laugh, and maybe it's time to return to real humor. Thanks,Art,you gave us a lot of good laughs.

A flash back to the seventies through the eyes of a brilliant satiristReview Date: 2008-01-09
Trudeau possesses the skill that all good cartoonists must have, the ability to satire the world we find ourselves in a humorous and generally subtle way.
The continued misadventures of Duke as Redskin G.M.Review Date: 2003-01-05
This volume is really a sequel to "But the Pension Fund Was Just Sitting There," in which Uncle Duke, finally released as the infamous "bald spy" who was the last (and unknown) of the Americans held hostage by the Iranians, becomes the General Manager of the Washington Redskins. However, his glory days may be over since he has been saddled with Riley, a young assistant (and nephew of the owner), who eventually rats out his boss to Rick Redfern. Now, Uncle Duke was never one of my favorite Doonesbury characters, but his tenure with the Redskins is one of my favorite longer-running Duke storylines. Besides, if Duke stays in one place long enough, can Honey be far behind? "We're Not Out of the Woods yet" is an above-average Doonesbury collection from the wicked imagination of G. B. Trudeau.

How come??!!Review Date: 2002-04-24
I loved it from beginning to end. Each time I feel I'm the only one suffering from corporatitis, I read it again and enjoy either the absolutely hilarious text and the funniest possible illustrations. Highy recommendable.
Now I'm glad that there are at least two good reviews... it deserves more!
The Sad Thing Is That I Have Worked at Companies Like ThisReview Date: 2000-02-26
From office morale to team building weekends to the war against the photocopier to corporate policy on stress management (I still giggle hysterically at some of those cartoons) this book is perfect for anyone who sometimes needs to see the funnier side of work.
By the way, this makes a great gift for a coworker moving on to greener pastures.

Bin Baby!Review Date: 2008-11-14
Someone donated a copy of this book to the troops here in Iraq, and several soldiers were passing it around when I discovered it and liked it so much, that I ordered a copy of my own!
It provided me with plenty of entertainment while waiting in airports/at airbases on my way to and from the U.S.A. for my mid-tour leave, and I still haven't looked for Bin Baby in all of the scenes!
Excellent Parody of the Where's Wally (Waldo in North America) SeriesReview Date: 2006-10-15
Obviously extremist patriotic Americans with no sense of humour will not get the joke that is the concept of Where's Bin Laden but everyone else including most other Americans will have at least a smile on their faces when they first see this book. It is pretty much the same thing visually as the Where's Wally books if you just want it for the find an image amongst a lot large more complicated visual image, so if you were going to get one of those books but want a laugh as well I'd get this instead.
Each of the cities portrayed has a small blurb on why they are now terrorist targets such as Sydney because Australia supported the USA in invading Iraq so obviously the author has certain views that you may or may not agree with, but you can just ignore those text boxes and enjoy the book purely for its visual humour anyway.
The book achieves what it sets out to. I have no idea if Daniel Lalic is the Weird Al Yankovic of the picture book world. I can't compare it to other books of his as this is the only one I've ever come across. I can say though that without a doubt, if you take a copy of this to your workplace or wherever else, everyone will want to have a look at it. Many people will ask where did you get this? So if you have read it and shown it to everyone you know, you'll have no problem selling it onto someone else who wants to show it to their friends and getting your money back. Get a copy and check it out, it's a good laugh!
