This volume represents a nice cross section of jokes across a spectrum of topics. Organized by subject and with some cross referencing, this is a good little book for those who need material for a specific event or just as a casual read. Recommended.

With this little gem sitting on your shelf, you'll never have to say,"Oh,I just can't remember jokes".
Jeff Rovin comes to your rescue with a joke about any subject you can imagine. Not only does he give us 1001 jokes ,he covers the gamut ,so if you're looking for something suitable for or about the school,or one for or about the guys at the bar;you'll find one here.He also has come up with a novel method of showing where jokes can be found of a similar theme in the book.
Just to prove the point,a couple of my favorite things are birds,Rubik's Cubes and books,so here goes;

"Mary walked into the pet store and, after looking up and down the aisles, asked the proprietor for help.
'I'd like a box of birdseed,'said the lady.
'For what kind of bird?'he asked helpfully.
'Oh,I dunno,'the strange woman replied,
'Whichever will grow the fastest'.

"Q: What goes,Click,click,click click,did I get it?
Click,click,click,click,did I get it?
A: A blind person playing with Rubik's Cube."

"I don't know," the world- famous novelist said to his
editor."I just don't think my newer books are as good as
my earlier works."
"Rubbish," the understanding editor replied,"your writing
is the same as it ever was,It's your taste that's
improved."

Now if puns are your thing,he's got them too;

"Then there was the Happy Trails Recreation Camp, which
posted this sign after Labor Day:
'Clothed for the Winter'"

Now don't get the idea all the jokes are as corny as these,
for the really sizzling ones, you'll have to check out the
book. The book has 351 pages and half of them wouldn't pass the
Amazon Litmus Test.If you really want to have some fun;put a
cover on the book, read it and laugh as you travel on the
bus,train or plane.It's particularly helpful if you're
looking for a little exra elbow room.

This book is one of those books that only comes along once in a while. Why doesn't anyone write parodies any more? Who doesn't like a good parody? This book is great. Windows for dumbells, Having our lay, Mars and Venus in the bathroom... and all around the house, The farm, Iron Tom, Jurrasic Pork, "S" is for supercalifragilisticexpealodoious and The "you're Hot, baby" zone are just some of the gut busting parodies in this book. and who can forget the parody that is the title of the book: 7 habits of highly defective people, which is the 18 page classic right in the middle of the book. I recommend this book to everyone. I bought it for 7 bucks when it came out. Buy it for one dollar now. What's a buck to you? 117 pages of pure parody, what more could you ask for?

This is simply a hilarious audio casette. You will laugh so loud that you will disturb the neighbors. I have listened to it five times. And each time, it becomes funnier and funnier. If you are hypersensitive, I wouldn't buy this cassette. The authors really lampoon so many of our favorite icons. Order this audio casette and have the time of your life!

It's Funny Because It's True

This little book packs a punch. The author helps you to know what to do to be an effective Christian by pretending to tell you how to be a bad Christian. It is not surprising that Adrian Plass wrote the foreword, because it is very much in the style of his writing.

Here are some snippets which I enjoyed:
On the page where you would usually find acknowledgments or a dedication, you will read instead
"An ineffective Christian never remembers to thank anyone under any circumstances. Might as well learn that before you begin this book."
Habit 1: Dichotomize Your Life. Truly ineffective Christians apportion their lives into secular and sacred components.
Habit 2: Make tolerance your god. Accept anything and everything. All viewpoints are not only valid but also equal.
Habit 20: Seek the quick, self-help solution. Look for easy answers. Trust your instincts.
Habit 22: Make music the big issue. Base your musical taste only on style. He even includes a hymn:
Come, thou Fount of every blessing
Give me what I want today.
Entertainment never ceasing
Paths of comfort line my way.

Lots of fun, but also much to chew on in this little gem.

A Commendable Documentation of African-American Art

Samella Lewis has updated and further developed her definitive guide on African-American Art. As a former student instructed on the subject with her first edition of this book as our class text, I can definitively say that this book provides a solid understanding of the different art movements and a variety of examples of the works. Also from the perspective of a young museum professional who has worked with African-American art collections, I highly recommend this volume as a foundation of basic knowledge on the subject.

I'm only 1/4 way through the book and it's a keeper. Durst is as funny in book form as he is on the stage. His observations are dead on, sane, and make me laugh out loud.
If you're frustrated with the current state of our union, buy this book. You'll feel better.

Being a teacher, I read this book during the summer (at the pool). I must have laughed out loud at least 20 different times. People started asking me what I was reading that was so funny. I love Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, Bill Mahr and Keith Olbermann. Now I love Will Durst, too. He speaks the truth, hits the nail on the head, and has you laughing out loud, all at the same time. Read it - you'll love it!! I didn't want to finish the book, because it would be over, but I couldn't wait to loan it to my sons, who love satire and sarcasm.

Granted, some of the print qualities aren't exceptional; however, the visuals compensate.

This book is one clear introduction to Exterior Calculus. It leads the reader just to Gauge Theories

Great Exposition
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-17
The book develops the theory of differential forms from several perspectives, culminating in highlights of many applications in physics, including a chapter on gauge theory and a chapter on electrodynamics. He gives the development of exterior calculus in a very readable and comprehensive manner. One thing I found particularly useful in this book is that he uses very cumbersome, explicit notation, which often gets swept under the rug of geometric shorthand in most texts on the subject. He does this not to be didactic but to make sure the reader understands the calculations involved at each algebraic symbol manipulation. He arrives at forms as a set of derivations over the algebra of smooth functions, and simultaneously as a set of functionals on the tangent bundle. He also uses basic physics to explain why forms are a necessary concept.

That said, there are some drawbacks to the text.

1. He doesn't always mention some of the standard terminology normally used for the objects he creates. For instance, the word "tangent bundle" is never used, he instead uses different words for the equivalent idea. Not a big deal, but one should probably consult other texts to check the words normally used.

2. He works ONLY in Euclidean space or subsets thereof, where of course the del operators form a GLOBAL basis for the tangent bundle instead of the more common case where one works on a manifold and has only local coordinate charts available. Thus, although the reader sees tensor tranformation laws, s/he does not see a definition of a general tensor or Christoffel symbols. This shouldn't be a huge drawback since the case on manifolds is only an extension of this case and so the book is a great introduction to more advanced settings.

He also keeps track of when concepts can be extended to larger algebraic settings than the cases at hand. Great book!

Mr. Schuman has his finger on the pulse of American humor. It transcends parody becoming itself a masterwork of sports humor. Once I had read (and reread) this book I at once bought copies for my family, friends and coworkers. This book is a keeper! Kudos Mr. Schuman and keep up the great work

I laughed hysterically at every page!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cartoons alone were hilarious, then the captions and quiz questions doubled my enjoyment. I bought 3 copies and used 2 as gifts for sports enthusiasts I know. They called to say they loved it too. I hope Mr. Schuman writes more humor books
