When I was wee, I never imagined that I'd become not a fart connoisseur, but a connoisseur and consumer of fart books. And this fart book is one of my faves. I also quite like "Walter the Farting Dog" and "It All Began With a Bean."

I stink, therefore I am. Yes friends, I'm a husky whitey, yet to be blessed with Motherhood, the highest and holiest honor. But when I begin ripping them off- or as my friend's teen daughter calls it: going on a fart-jag- you don't want to be within 500 feet for fear of contamination (some call it the greatest nation to live in!). If you have a bit of a thing, so to speak, for your own stench then the Zen of Farting is for you.

As Doctor Evil says, "Breath-taking!" Definitely, an enlightening book, especially for those of you who try the match trick. Just remember, the cosmos started in a cloud of gas, so why not fart your way to Satori.

Our church had the privilage of having Gwen Diaz and her husband speak at a church retreat a while back and after hearing them speak, I had to buy some of their books. So far every one I have picked up has been excellent. The advice offered is top notch and the principles applied are biblically based and realistic. I would highly recommend this book for anyone with children. You will laugh out loud and think that she lived with your child(ren)while writing this excellent book!

I love it!

I would highly recommend this book to all mothers but especially those with children still at home. It will give you a lift but more than that it will inspire you to really appreciate and cherish the precious gift God has given us with our children. I have laughed, cried, agreed and said "that's my kids she's writting about!" and then at the end of each section I'm always reminded of God's goodness and His work in our lives even in the simple day to day adventures!

Gwendolyn Diaz has written a jem of a book! Each mom who is lucky enough to read it will find herself in hysterics at moments, and in moments of reflection as she thinks of her own kids. This is a very personal book, and one filled with a lot of thought provoking ideas. You feel as if you know each of the people mentioned very well by the end of the stories. The christian views are wonderful and add a really neat perk to the everyday humorous tales that fill its pages. What a neat life she has led, what neat children she has, and most of all, what a wonderful christian heart she has! Once you start reading this book you will have a hard time putting it down!

What a fun, insightful, thought-provoking book! It inspires me to thoroughly ENJOY my children even in the midst of the most mundane or chaotic day. When I began laughing out loud as I read story after story my children became curious. "MOM, read one of the stories to us." So I did. Story after story. My children love the book too.

Big Beautiful Book. Great for the coffee table, sometimes that's what's necessary to share with the neighbors one's love of art. I fancy Giacometti's tall, emaciated figures.

Alberto Giacometti gave Western art perhaps the most persuasive and comprehensive view of the state of being human post WW2; eroded to its core yet still possessing the intelligence to think it way out of the mess it constantly makes for itself.

Yves Bonnefoy's book Giacometti is the definitive work on this artist and should be compulsory reading for anyone contemplating becoming a contemporary artist as it contains all the clues that would alow someone to understand such essential things as integrity and the balancing act between idea and artistry.

This work provides a nice look at a part of what we know about this area. Western Mexico has a largely unappreciated history even among scholars in the mesoamerican field. It's probably safe to say that the written history of this area has only begun to develope despite a long record of investigation.

The photography in this work is excellent. The text is informative. Anyone interested in this area owes it to themselves to read this.

Ancient West Mexico is a fascinating region that has been overlooked by many scholars through the years. Finding very good information about the cultures of West Mexico is difficult. This book is wonderful...it has the latest archaeological information, beautiful photographs of the pieces and the landscape, and great detailed illustrations and diagrams. I often teach about the ancient cultures of Mesoamerica and this is a perfect resource.

This book is a delight to read and look at the photographs. Very unusual samples of ceramic art. The text is as the title indicates rather on the archeological side. The only thing missing is a description of the actual clay technique used (coils). Highly recommended.

Review Date: 2006-08-09
My mother had bought all nine volumns of The Saga for a person we knew who was struggling with peer pressure and drugs. She used these Christian comics as a tool to reach him and save him. The day she brought them home I sat down to read volumn 1. After that I couldn't stop until I read them all. I spend the entire evening reading them to my daughter as well. Soon I was at the book store buying all nine volumns for myself to keep as a collection. Some of the pictures are graphic and scary but the reality is that it's TRUE, not only are we at war in the Middle East but there is a closer war right here among us all. It's a spiritual WarFare. These comics explain in scripture and how we have a choice not to be victimized by evil. These comics are an excellent tool to express how much you care about someone by sharing this colorful illustrations and true to life story line with them. Highly recommended.

This a wonderful book with great photographs. The shapes are presented simply in black and white across from the color photograph. This helps children first learn the shape and then find the shape in the architecture. My one less star is because the depicted oval is really an ellipse. This happens often in children's books for some reason. An ellipse always has two axes of reflection; an oval has one or more. So, an egg-shape is an oval, but not an ellipse.

Fun reading

As an architect, I enjoy giving these books as gifts because they are different from your run of the mill children's books. I like how they use building pieces to teach about basic shapes and colors. It is not a book that highlights popular or historic architecture - its more about the components.

The book shows basic shapes through line drawings and on the facing page different architectural elements of that shape, mainly photos of windows. My twins are 13 months old and they choose this book as one of their favorites. The photographs are crisp and reality based (no cartoons), the typeface is large and clear, and the shapes are bold and basic. The twins like it read to them as well as flipping the pages themselves. We may soon need another copy as it is getting a lot of use. I would recommend this book to any small child, beginning reader, or even a little older.

An excellent reference book concerning the work of Albert Paley. This book really drives at the esence of the sculptor's medium. Many fine examples of the artist's work are illustrated in black and white as well as full color pictures. This book does a great job of representing the scale of Paley's later public sculpture pieces and is a must have for any artist blacksmith.

This is the only book that I've come across that presents the full spectrum of Albert Paley's work in crisp B/W and color photographs and that details a biography of the artist. My introduction to Paley came unexpectedly when at a function in the Wortham Center (Houston) I was greeted by his soaring Stairway Scuptures, which are included in this book. Paley goes beyond creating sculptures that stand as isolated works of art. His scuptures enhance the spaces in which they are placed and are themselves enhanced by those spaces. The author does a superb job of describing the experience of entering a vast architectural volume and the impact that Paley's monumental sculptures have by their positions within it. This book is the next best thing to having that experience for oneself. If you love Gaudi and other artists of the Art Nouveau movement, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.

People could be mistaken for thinking that Australia and America have so much in common....but it is so far from the truth. As I was reading the book I laughed out loud at situations the author was describing....was she somehow spying on my life? In true Australian style we are able to laugh at ourselves and our differences. Thanks Anne for a truly enjoyable reading experience. I gave it to an American friend to read and it opened her eyes to the challenges we face between our cultures too.

This book is most likely the best book that I have never read. I know the author quite well, and am proud of her accomplishments, who knows why she told me that I could write her a review on Amazon? The only complaint that I have about her book is that it does not properly disclose the dangers of high fructose corn syrup, or how prevalent this "syrup" is in America, as an Australian visiting this country, likely naive and bushy-eyed, they will have no idea of the detrimental effects! I am quite outraged by this omission, but none the less, I'm sure it was a great book. Oh, and I'm only guessing that she omitted this.
