Foreign-market Books

"les Mots", or "Words", is Jean-Paul Sartre's autobiography about his childood, with a strong emphasis on literature; an emphasis which is only natural, since little Sartre grew up with them before he began writing himself (pun intended).

Accordingly, the book is divided into two parts: "To Read" and "To Write".

If you can read French, then please do yourself a favour and read this wonderful text. It is so good, it actually made me enjoy writing French prose, which is something no other text before ever did, and about the only other French text that I can remember which had an effect of "wow, that's well written!" on me was "les Liaisons Dangereuses" by Laclos.

"Les Mots" is a thrilling read, with insights so profound and witty that I enjoyed every page of it. I generally love Sartre's writings, and this is no exception; it just may have a little something more, in the sense that, for all I know, it is the only explicitly autobiographic book he wrote.

I can't recommend this book enough.

In his book, Robert Goldston offers a great description of the Men, the Methods, and the Madness that surround NAzi Germany. In an unbiased report Goldston lays out how the German people could be led so far back from civilization. Brlliantly crafted Goldston uses readable, convrsational language to pain a portrait of that dark period in the history of the German Nation

Linda 67 es una novela perfecta, en forma y contenido. Es cierto que no hay novelas perfectas pero esta se aproxima. David Sorensen es un personaje estrambótico, lleno de filigranas y sutilezas. La narración del crimen que comete es precisa y, a la vez, irónica, perpleja ante la sosera de la vida al estilo americano, con su manía por los objetos materiales y su menosprecio por el espíritu. El final es glorioso: triunfa la justicia o, al menos, la inteligencia. Repito: es un crimen contra uno mismo no leer esta Historia de un Crimen. Pobrecita Linda, tan boba, tan inocente, nunca se imaginó que Fernando del Paso la inmortalizaría.

When I was 12 years old, I used this method (of course, a record version)owned by my father; I learned very fast due to its fantastic and very easy approach. The dictionary with related phrases is also very good.

I read that book when I was back home in Ivory Coast and I could never forget about it. It inspired me a lot I would also like to have a copie of the book.

This wonderful guide book allowed me to stroll through the streets of Old Montreal and the entire downtown area, discovering the architecture and history of the many fine old buildings. The two fold-out colour maps were very useful to get around. They are air photographs of the city with buildings and cars and everything in detail. VERY COOL! I really liked the way it pointed out architectural features that I would certainly have missed. The stories about the places it guided me to made me learn more about the city in which I live. I'm reccommending it to all my friends who are planning a visit to me in Montreal. The historical background brought the city into perspective.
