Compiled and edited by David Boyle (Senior Associate, New Economics Foundation, London, England), The Money Changers: Currency Reform From Aristotle To E-Cash is an anthology of expert essays by respected authors spanning a history of money ranging from 350 BC down to the modern day. Special focus is provided concerning the foibles, difficulties, and challenges facing currency systems. From the problems that arise from too much or too little money wreaking havoc on the economy, to the mind-boggling possibilities of electronic commerce and e-cach, The Money Changers is a fascinating wealth of economic insight, gleaned from great names through the centuries including J M Keynes, Benjamin Franklin, Andrew Jackson, Aristotle, Marco Polo, B F Skinner and much more. Highly recommended for both academia and non-specialist general readers with an interest in economics.

The MRI Banker's Guide to Foreign Currency is the bible for foreign currency tellers, especially those dealing with exotic currencies. The most striking feature is the full color printing on glossy paper making for an unusually high image quality. The downside is that only the main side is pictured. Nevertheless, currency hustlers around the world don't stand a chance against anyone armed with this guide.

2000 photos of currency from 150 countries clearly indicate all currencies in use as well as devalued, worthless, outmoded but redeemable notes, and issues with approaching expiration dates. There are lists of serial numbers of stolen currencies. There are warnings such as this one: "Notes issued by the Central Bank of Mali are worthless". There is a section showing travelers checks issued in 18 currencies. Personally I think it would be foolish to try to authenticate currency you haven't seen before without the benefit of this Guide.

The Guide will also be of interest to banknote dealers and collectors, who will inevitably want to compare it to the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money published by Krause Publications. Krause has three times the number of pages, three times the number of photos, shows BOTH sides of the banknotes listed, shows numismatic (or collector) values, and is generally wider in scope. However, for the collector who can afford both, the Guide provides high quality color images of the world's currency which is rivaled only by the real thing.

Talk about a book that everyone should read, but no one will, this is it. A terrific, plain language explanation of the origins of money and how understanding money leads to political sophistication and concommitant societal benefits.

This book makes many cogent arguments that deal with war and external defense, interior political and civil stabilty, the societal need for a stable currency, the need for a rule of law to protect private property rights, and the implications of the velocity and movements of global currency trading. It does a great job of explaning financial derivitives, options, inflation, debasement of the currency via political corruption, and financial globalization of trade and currencies.

It contains a marvelous retelling of history thru the eyes of a currency sophisticate, one who incorporates a history of revolutions, and the subsequent rebuildings of the societies that gain prominence in their aftermath.

The backdrop for this fascinating tale is the rise of the micro-chip, the story of the digital revolution. This running-wild tale illustrates how technology has outstripped the ability of dictators to throttle it, and how society has commensurately reaped the benefits. It's a paradigm for the future and deserves to be more widely understood. It has shaken up the strangle hold of one political philosophy ruling the media, and in the future it will reform tort law and academia. It's all here for those willing to study it.

Fantastic book, clearly written. A history of the systematic shift in power from governments to asset markets, especially in the Reagonomics era (which includes the 1990's). A 'must', along with "Inventing Money" and "Wall Street Capitalism", for those who want to understand the financial system and it's consequences.

I finally understand what Options and derivatives are. This is a wonderful, fun book which guides the reader through the history of monetary exchanges. Did I say fun? You have to read his description of Berkeley in the late 60s. Although I lived through it, I never understood the inflation or high interest rates of the 70s and how it related to taking the dollar off the gold standard. Oh yes I can see clearly now!

I consider the book a perfect guide written by a professional for professionals. If you are looking for scientific completeness and complication, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a competent down-to-earth reference, this is your book. I wonder when the third edition of this valuable tool will be published.

I work in the securities industry, and this book accurately described the markets and products without the detailed mathematics. I would recommend this book as a first reading before the Hull and White book which is much more mathematical.

Too bad it's out of print. I'd like everyone in my group to have a copy.

I went for the WalkMan friendly tape set.
It didn't take long and I needed forget about walking and concentrate.
I found the question and answer format worked very well, much better than having a droning narration.
FXMentor did lead me to a fresh perspective on dealing with my FX flows.
I had been floundering about in the traditional paradigm of when and if to execute hedge contracts.
I now have a view of the whole process that I am much more comfortable about.
Additionally as a result of these tapes I can now put in place a an ability to measure hedging performance (my management).

This tape set has been an absolute turning point in my understanding of foreign exchange for business.
The author has used numerous examples and explanations to ensure that you get a clear insight into how to use foreign exchange to the advantage of your business.
The section on dynamic hedging was particularly relevant since it displayed how to use foreign exchange as a means of getting ahead of your competitors. And the most amazing thing - it doesn't involve unreasonable risk!
These tapes were great and very easy to listen to - I listened to them in the car.

I found "Trading in the Global Currency Markets" really useful in general, and for the technical analysis ample coverage, in particular. While I had some basic understanding about about technicals before reading Luca's excellent book, I can now say that I am able to use most of these tools with a high degree of certainty. Luca's approach is very systematic, and I felt I added layers upon layers of understanding. I think that the book caters well not only to novices, but also to professionals like me, who need to brush up their knowledge.

Excellent book if you need to learn what's truly going on in the currency markets! I can finally make sense on how forwards work and how to put together cross pairs the right way. The technical analysis is so comprehensive! Need to go once more over it. Really a useful book for the FX heads.

Mr.Luca has out done himself. I am a 11 year veteran of the futures markets and I have written three book on futures trading. Mr.Luca's book exceeded my expectations. I read it and was completely enlightened at the chain of connections that drive the currency market. His technical analysis on forex trading was easily adaptable to my own strategies, plus I learned a few new tricks.

Mr.Luca's writing is very indepth and many beginners to forex trading will find a lot of information to wade through in order to find the nuggets they are looking for. That being said, any serious beginner will not have a problem with getting a thorough education in this fascinating subject.

Intermediate traders will see there mistakes and hopefully correct them by using this book.

Overall, this is a great book by Mr.Luca and I keep a copy as a refernce.

This book covers so much in the derivatives marketplace. After being involved in the business for 12 years and writing three books on futures and commodity derivatives I was definitely refreshed and enlightened by Mr.DeRosa's book.

DeRosa has picked excellent papers. If one reads the papers in detail, the currency derivatives literature, as well as related derivatives literature, becomes very easy to understand.

This book presents highly technical papers on diverse topics from variuous academics. It would be very helpful to anyone looking to understand theoretical aspects of FX derivatives. Since most papers are written by different authors, notation is not consistent. In addition, academics do not always write like Hemingway. Nevertheless, the book covers everyhting from vanillas to exotics very well.

As a Foreign Currency Dealer, I was NOT helped from this book at all! Actually the title is misleading since he does NOT concentrate on FX, he only shows some graph examples using FX crosses instead of stocks... The author just refers to a lot of TA indicators only reviewing their typical Buy and Sell signals that are written in every TA book, and furthermore the sections are very bad structured. Really very very disappointed!!!

I have had a measurable improvement in my profitability since reading "Technical Analysis Applications in the Global Currency Markets."
Although I have traded currencies for nearly seven years, I've never had the opportunity to systematically train in charting. Adding insult to injury, I listened many times to the "expert advice" of some ill-prepared reporters, who deliver opinions devoid of information. Needless to say, I lost money in several instances.
What "Technical Analysis Applications in the Global Currency Markets" brings to the table is a complete and systematic set of tools that will enrich every trader's arsenal. It's been working for me well consistently. It's hard to believe that I missed so many opportunities in the past.
There are many technical books out there. But I am a currency trader, and I'd rather see examples in FX, without the bias of "buy-and-hold" that you see in most other books that focus on equities. Besides, with the way they are going, who wants to trade equities, anyway?
I learned a lot from this book, and I feel confident that I can always go back to it to refresh my knowledge. Frankly, a lot of candlestick terms were at best fuzzy before reading is book. Now, I am fully confident in my understanding, and this translates in increased profitability.

In a short period of time junior traders drastically improved their knowledge and, more importantly, performance. At the end of the day, all that counts is a decent profit.
I found the clear structure and complete coverage to be big assets, particularly in a market devoid of consolidated research. In fact, this is the only technical analysis book on foreign exchange that I know of.
Junior traders were very pleased with the excellent explanations, diagrams and real-life examples in this updated edition. In particular, they found trend analysis, candlesticks, and point-and-figure charts to be consistent profit boosters.
The clear explanation of the benefits of moving averages and of the entry/exit points is valuable as well. Most recetly, these ntry/exit applications worked wonderfully for both the euro and the yen.
I strongly recommend "Technical Analysis Applications in the Global Currency Markets" to anyone who toils in the volatile currency markets.
