Best book on foreclosure I've read
The most comprehensive book of it's kind to be found. After reading this book I was not only able to help myself, but have helped a countless number of others. This book is a must read for anyone facing forclosure, or is upsidedown on their mortgage.

Best book available on fighting foreclosureThis is the only book I could find that presents all the foreclosure options -- and it is written in a way that is easy to understand. No other book presents so much information in such an easy-to-use format. You can find remedies for your specific situation in minutes. I think it is a must for anyone who is facing foreclosure or for professionals who advise people on how to stop foreclosure and/or lower their mortgage payments.

IndispensableAn extremely competent do-it-yourself vloume on saving your home by avoiding foreclosure and even making a profit. He goes to lengths to explain what to do when foreclosure threatens, how to get a new loan, restructuring your mortgage, your legal rights. Large-sized volume. Porter explains wonders in 162 pages. Also some very, very interesting personal experiences the author has gone through that will have you sitting up in your worries and paying attention. Indispensable!
This book can help you avoid foreclosure. This is a subject dear to the hearts of many people in the Houston area and Texas as a whole. Although decreasing, foreclosures still are occurring with an alarming frequency in this area. The reader is lead through the sequence of what happens when someone goes through a foreclosure. This starts with the first time you stop making mortgage payments through to the foreclosure sale and beyond; including the legal consequences after it is all over. The book isn't just a simple explanation of how to endure a foreclosure, though. It also offers ways to avoid a foreclosure, such as working with your lender, looking for help from the government, or getting help form the legal system. It details the steps the lender will be taking at the same time to foreclose upon you. To make the book complete, it even has a chapter on how you can buy foreclosed-upon property. This book is worth a read for any homeowner.
Financially endangered persons will want to read this guide. Most home owners are unaware of the secrets that lie hidden in the foreclosure process, knowldege that this book claims would allow most anyone facing the loss of their home not only to live rent free but also to avoid foreclosure altogether. Furthermore, whether you own a house, townhouse, farm, or business property, Porter alleges that profit can be made from a foreclosure situation! While it is difficult to know if these methods work, financially endangered persons will want to read this guide. At the very least, they will learn how every home buyer today is at the mercy of the creditor (the loan institution) and how banks illegally "create" money by lending out their credit. Interesting appendixes offer further explication of state foreclosure laws, various federal resources, and amortizaed loans.

A Powerful ToolThis book is a powerful tool for anyone who dreams of buying a home but worries that they won't qualify because of credit problems. Everyone knows how important their credit report is, but this book actually tells you WHY, and even HOW TO IMPROVE your rating. The whole process of buying a home is so confusing and so many people fell like they are at the mercy of the lenders. This book is truly a Step-by-Step guide that gives the buyer all the information they need to understand and even have some control in the process. Knowledge is power and Mr. Sacks puts so much easy to understand and practial information in this book that even if you don't have credit issues, what you learn by reading his book is invaluable for anyone wanting to buy a home.
Wonderful Book with great adviceWow !! This is a wonderful step by step book for getting a mortgage, EVEN if you have recently filed for bankruptcy. The book is written in very plain language and gives specific examples with illustrations that are very easy to understand. Mr. Sacks has provided a valuable tool for those of us who thought it would be IMPOSSIBLE to ever get a mortgage again, after filing for bankruptcy. The ideas within this book apply to a vast array of people with varying circumstances. Mr. Sacks has an excellent grasp of the mortgage process and has made this very difficult and confusing process SIMPLE for the rest of us. I followed the advice within the book and was recently approved for a mortgage, after I had been told by countless individuals that it would take me at least another five years !! This is a great read and well worth the money !!

Comprehensive, Step by Step InstructionsI found the author to be clear, and to the point. He gave step by step instructions, forms and analysis sheets to assist someone who wishes to go into this area. In addition he gave "Hot Tips" or "Author's Notes" throughout the book, giving information about a situation that he had encountered and how to handle it, or just useful information. Book is comprehensive, dealing with foreclosure flips, reos, buying at auction, buying before auction, how to talk to homeowners...MORE! Only one more thing to say: BUY THIS BOOK!

Excellent pocket sized guideThis is an excellent book on buying foreclosed homes. It is a basic guide and serves its purpose very well for the money. I've spent considerably more money on similar but larger books that were not as well written or informational. Provides checklists, contacts, glossary, payment tables, and 44 two page chapters or "keys" to buying foreclosed homes. The authors did not waste space, making this a little book that packs a big punch. It is very basic but provides a good foundation of information.

Van Horn strikes gold!I must catch my breath before I begin... I am completely overwhelmed by this fine textbook. Did I say "fine"--oh, how limited our language is. What Van Horn and his partner in scholarship have here done for the legal community is beyond measure. I never before imagined that real estate foreclosure could be at one time so interesting and so utterly entertaining. I attribute both to the eloquent style of the authors, who weave one of the finest paralegal tapestries to be found in ink. Once I picked this book up, I could not put it down (and my arms became very tired after the 22nd hour). I toast you, Grayson Van Horn. You have bestowed upon the world a rare piece of writing. I would read absolutely anything (at least the cover page of absolutely anything) you wrote; and not just because I am your son.

Of 18 on foreclosures, still in the top two.Of the 175 books in my real estate library, 18 deal strictly with foreclosure. This was the first of that group that I read, back in '87, and it was instrumental in leading me to concentrate on this area of investment. It is simple, straight forward, not wordy, but quite concise and comprehensive. No seminars are in the offing. Excellent at revealing all the information required to get off to an educated start, without the fillers, come ons, and misdirection of many of the current crop. In retrospect, it was probably the best one I could have stumbled upon early on. Have you ever read a book and then wished no one else could? I felt I was given the secrets to life. One of my most cherished.

FABULOUS BOOK!I purchased this book when I was 3 months behind on my mortgage payments. It helped me immensely and taught me how I can negotiate a payment plan with my mortgage company. I will recommend the book to anyone I know that can use this knowledge.
A Reader from North CarolinaI was devastated from the recent flooding and my house was severly damaged. This book help me arrange a payment plan with the bank when I fell behind on my mortgage payments due to a short unemployment status. I highly recommend this short masterpiece.
excellent readingThis book should have come out years ago when I was facing foreclosure. I bought this book simply to educate myself in case I need to employ the valuable information it contains.
As somewhat of a novice in real estate, I hate the books that are written in a manner that seems to assume you have as much experience as the person writing the book and proceeds to leave out the details that could get a plan of action going. Mr. Jensen assumes nothing, it's all there.
I would hands-down recommend this book to anyone who is facing foreclosure or, like me, just wants a better understanding of the process.
Good job Mr. Jensen.
