Essential
Essential reading for the pragmatic, sensible and successful application of Human Factors to anyone in industry.
This book has provided me with information of how Human Factors should be applied to the development of a system in the 'real engineering' world. Invaluable. Brilliant. If you are in 'Human Factors' you NEED this book.

A must-have for students and practitioners in human factors!
Alphonse Chapanis is one of the founding fathers of the field of human factors engineering and probably its most important author. His numerous books and publications over the past half century serve as a foundation for those engaged in the design of user-friendly tools, systems and environments. Now he presents what may be his best work, a comprehensive description of how the human factors design process actually proceeds.

While most human factors texts have concentrated on questions of describing and optimizing human performance, Chapanis goes one step farther. The goal of this text is to show the human factors practitioner precisely how their inputs should be included at every stage of the engineering design process. Effective coordination with design engineers from other disciplines is the key. Numerous entertaining and thought-provoking case studies are drawn from the authors's vast experience to add spice to the clearly written text.

To anyone starting a career in human factors engineering: Buy this book, read it from cover to cover, keep it on your desk and refer to it often.

The best!
Is difficult to find such a practical book in this area I THINK THAT THIS BOOK IS NOT ONLY THE BEST IF NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT FULFILL THE GENETICIST CALCULATION REQUIREMENTS! Congratulations to the author!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent
If to a Genetic Counselor the grammar of medical genetics i.e. risk factor calculation and implication of its outcome means everything then this book belongs to the best group of books. Being a student aspiring to be a genetic counselor, I found this book very informative and useful.Written in a simple way,the complex mathematical calculations have been described with the help of many easy to understand examples. All chapters bear the "key points" which divides the chapter into groups without breaking the continuity. After reading this book an immense idea of Statistical Genetics is bound to emerge in the mind of both students and professionals which will give confidence in the clinic. With best wishes to Ian D.Young for this precise & complete attempt in compiling a good reference book for the genetic counselors.

Investigating Human Error: Incidents, Accidents, and Complex Systems: Incidents, Accidents and Complex Systems

An outstanding guide, one that has long been needed.
Just as our transportation system, like most complex systems, has grown ever more sophisticated, so have the means of investigating when those systems suffer failures. For years, a pronouncement of "human error" signaled the end of an accident investigation; now it often marks the beginning. It is no longer sufficient to conclude that an error occurred; investigators must now determine why it occurred and what can be done to prevent a recurrence. Yet surprisingly, there has been little in the training canon to prepare the accident investigator for this central function. That is, until now, because Dr. Barry Strauch has masterfully filled that gap. "Investigating Human Error: Incidents, Accidents, and Complex Systems" is that rarity in the literature of any discipline: a text that is thorough, well-organized and also a pleasure to read. Strauch is clearly at home in both the academic world and the gritty, high-stress environment that surrounds the investigator in the field. Each page of his book is informed by his years of experience as an investigator, an educator and a human factors psychologist. With the systematic, insightful approach presented by Strauch, complex systems are no longer impenetrable to the investigator; human error ceases to be a conundrum. Furthermore, Strauch's audience extends well beyond the ranks of investigators alone. His book will be profoundly appreciated by the people who work in airlines and other complex systems, by those who manage them and by those who analyze and regulate them. In fact, Strauch's work will be a compelling read for anyone who is fascinated and perplexed by humans failing to perform as they should in critical missions.

Superb
Dr. Barry Strauch's book is a superbly written and researched account by an investigating expert. He weaves an informative tale that maintains an anecdotal and entertaining tone throughout. Dr. Strauch is, quite simply, a literary wizard. His book is truly a gift to the aviation world. His first-hand account of many infamous accidents combined with his expertise and step by step techniques make this an educational yet interesting read. This reader highly recommends this book to anyone in the field of aviation or any person with an interest in the field. This book is a classic in the vein of "Normal Accidents," Charles Perrow's masterpiece. Five stars.

Iron Maiden: Sheet Music to X Factor

Play it as it is!
This is one of the best guitar books I've ever seen, both because of it's music (being from Iron Maiden explains everything) and speacially because of its strictness! It's an authentic guitar transcription. If you are a guitarist and Iron Maiden fan I recommend it to you. Take in consideration that the songs are not easy to play and learn though... you'll probably get a bit frustrated with that, but, hell, I'm rating the book, not the user :-)

Eric's X Factor Review
I think this book really is just awesome. One reasons is that Dave Murray is just the best guitarist. Another reason is that it's just great to play the right notes to a Iron Maiden song because Iron Maiden's is just the best and these people on the tab web sites make the notes all wrong and it just pisses me off, you know. This is actually a funny reason why the book is cool, the Eddie on the cover is just amazing and freaky. This is why I think the book kicks total arse. Hope you like it, PEACE OUT and UP THE IRONS!

I finally found where I'm living
What a book! Clearly defines in geographical terms where you might be living.: The City of Hades Gulch is the capital of The State of Despair; Purgatoria is the capital of the State of Anxiety; Malasia is the capital city of the State of Mediocrity; Fat City is the capital of the State of Affluence and the city of "MECCA" is the capital of the State of Grace. A tour through these cities reveals where you are and where you want to be. An eye-opening experience from someone who's been trying to define himself for 30+ years. A must read for anyone looking to find themselves!

The MECCA Factors
Thank you very much indeed. We need more books to cover how to evaluate our performance and oppertunities.

Absolutely spellbinding
From the first page, I had to keep reading to find out what was gonna happen next, I was caught up in the suspense Mr. Hudson created. Would make a great movie.

A must read Sci-Fi. thriller. Truly creative work.
Area 51 occupies the imagination of many, from the mildly curious to the overtly paranoid. Hudson gives us a new scenario to contemplate. What if there really is something the government wants us not to see? Is this the porthole from which our celestial visitors enter and exit? The suspense and flow of Hudson's novel makes the reader want to read faster. I for one am eagerly awaiting book two.

The Mom Factor: Dealing With the Mother You Have, Didn't Have, or Still Contend With
Published in Audio Cassette by Zondervan (October, 1996)
Authors: Henry, Dr Cloud and John, Dr Townsend
Amazon base price: $16.99
Average review score:

The best book on the topic of mother/child relationships.
Henry Cloud and John Townsend'a books are revolutionary in the authors' abilities to connect with their readers. All of the previous literature on boundaries, keeping safe in relationships, understanding the core of what hooks an individual into a dysfunctional relationship, as well as the healing process, pales in comparison with their powerful works. I highly recommend and give their books to all my clients, family and friends! I applaud Amazon.com for offering these books and encourage others to order through the website. Other Cloud and Townsend titles I highly recommend are: Boundaries; Boundaries With Kids; Safe People; Changes That Heal.

Are you being the best Mom you can be?
I thought I had the best Mom in the world...she always seemed to do the right thing! Then, I lost her when I turned 30 years old. All of a sudden, I had no one to turn to for advice. I knew I wasn't communicating well with my three girls ages 10, 14 and 15 years and I needed to know what to do to increase our communication skills. I attended a book review of The Mom Factor and was amazed to find out that just because I always did what Mom expected didn't necessarily mean that I had a right to expect my own children to be just like me. I was able to discover that I am the way I am because of the way I was mothered. I still believe that Mom was the best Mom that she could be but none of us are perfect! This book has helped me to discover that there are certain things that I have done as a mother that will affect my girls for the rest of their lives. I also am able to catch myself when I find that I am responding to them in such a way that will not be good for them in the long run. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a mother, who will become a mother or who has a mother! You will soon discover some interesting facts about why you are the way you are

Barnett lists 40 factors in a brief, page-and-a-half format that makes this book ideal for use as a daily devotional. Chapters such as Factor #9: Don't Waste Your Time, or Factor #5: Be Call Driven, Not Burden Driven are two excellent examples of Barnett's straightforward, future-oriented Christ-like approaches to Multiplication. A must read for every staff member and lay leader in the Church!
