Mannoia starts with the journey of Moses and moves on to the pattern of Jesus to illustrate his thesis. His purpose ¡§is not to focus on ¡¥equipping spiritual leaders with visible tools for their position, but, rather, on the unseen building blocks of ¡¥empowerment¡¦.¡¨
¡§Leadership means influencing others.¡¨ Christian leadership should influence ¡§others to faith and life in Christ¡¨ and ¡§it involves a positive influence to cause change.¡¨ All leadership has the visible performance involving skills, functions and results. But spiritual leadership can stand the test because of their core, an unseen identity like the bottom of an iceberg which gives stability in times of wind and wave.
People always behave out of their identities. Therefore the identity of spiritual leadership needs to follow the pattern of Christ in order to God¡¦s work. Christ took a path of service with humility and emptiness in order to be exalted in God¡¦s time and by God¡¦s way. Christian leaders need to follow suit. This approach is similar to Larry Crabb's in his book Inside Out. This path calls for transforming one¡¦s identity through emptying and dealing one¡¦s will through humbling obedience. It is not easy because ¡§the way of Christ is not easy¡¨ but is rewarding and fulfilling. When we identify with Christ in His suffering, we shall also exalt with Christ in God¡¦s timing.
When the unseen identity is found, the spiritual can move to learn from different models of leadership and management according to their orientation. Mannoia caution us to check out our motives, whether we serve for self-improvement or serve because of a passion for God. If self is the motive we may end up pursuing self as our goal. If God is our motive we will get God as our result.
Therefore our ministry is ¡§the activity¡K flows from identity as a servant¡Kin like-mindedness Christian leaders follow His example ¡V obey the Father, submit to His will and make Christ known as the means for reconciliation to God.¡¨ The journey goes on when a spiritual leader is ¡§continually evaluating the integration and interaction between our identity and our performance.¡¨In a long haul, character does speak out.
Dr. Mannoia is my professor. I enjoy both him and his book. It is a short book that can be finished on a east-west plane trip, but the idea is profound and along the line with those of Oswald Sanders, Greenleaf and the like. One thing i notice is that the word "identity" appears much more times than "integrity".

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is married, planning to get married or single again. As a person who has in the last 3 years become interested in MBTI, I found this book to blend the factors of type with a person's family of origin issues wonderfully. Intimacy in a relationship is a long term work assignment for which we need all the tools we can get.

This is an easy to read, gentle introduction to factor analysis. If you have struggled to find a readable resource on factor analysis then stop your search! I finished this book in an afternoon. I finally understand the basics of factor analysis. It's actually quite simple! You don't need more than an elementary understanding of expectation, variance, covariance and correlation.

Not wanting the side-effects of medication to control my hypertension (which had reached 185/99) I searched for natural remedies. This book tells it all, naturally. There are even lists of what you CAN eat (and cannot) and still keep the pressure down. My heart feels healthier, I have no more headaches, more energy, and a much better disposotion since I started controling my K factor to lower my pressure (which now averages 127/79).

Every hypertension patient should read this book.

Contributions by art historians, artists, friends and most importantly, Nancy Reddin Kienholz, make up a history that spans 4 decades. It begins with Ed's solo work in the Beat Era of the 1950s and continues with the collaborative work done by Ed and wife Nancy from 1972 to 1994. Even those who are not artists cannot help but be moved by this book. The stories are interesting, often funny and always personal. From collages to life-size environments, the work is not afraid to confront issues of cruelty or to embrace the forgotten in society. Unique vision, artistry and the materials of everyday life (collected at flea markets and junk shops) combine to make art that can be quiet with despair, cry out in anguish, or even make us laugh. Considered by some as ugly, this work is never dull or without compassion. As art historian and curator Walter Hopps says on the book jacket, "The work of Edward and Nancy Reddin Kienholz has had an enormous impact on the development of contemporary sculpture." I recommend this book to anyone interested in contemporary art or social science -- or who just appreciates a beautiful book and fascinating story.

Most statistics books are written for math wizards and can hardly be understood by others. This book explains a number of statistical methods, such as factor analysis, path analysis, and structural equation models, and does so in ways that are clear, easy to grasp, and with fuly-worked examples. I learned more about statistics from this one book than all the others I've read combined.

I immediately bought "The Liberating Factor: A Message For The World" after I heard Mr. Brown speak during one of his popular "success training" seminars. I was inspired to make a significant change in not only the way I ran my business, but also my life. The Liberating Factor is a constant "pocket motivator" that I refer to daily to keep me inspired. Ed says, "The true test of this book's effectiveness will be whether the reader is moved to a higher level of thought." Well, if reading this book inspires only one other person to "un-lock their potential for success", I'd say this is effective reading!

This book reels you in from page one. With all the twists and turns you cannot put it down. This book is a definite favorite for everyone on my gift list. Fantastic!!

This is definitely an interesting book. It views the 'luck' from a scientific perspective. By having 4 simple principles, everyone can increase the chance of luck. In fact, Dr. Wiseman demonstrates the people with luck having a common set of personalities that lead them to have more opportunities than others. Luck is not from your psychic power, it's more the consequence of how you behave and how you view your daily life.
This book is similar to the "Millionaire Mind" by Dr. Thomas Stanley, which depicts the characteristic of being a millionaire. To be a better luck person, it's simple, just be more positive and using Dr. Wiseman's four principles.
