An useful book in 1998, getting bit useless in year 2000. A lot of that has to due to old stadiums long gone and new ones coming on line. A book like this needs to be updated every other year or something. 1996 is simply too outdated to be useful to current travelers. I also wish there were more information on nearby lodging instead of one or two entries and a map on how to get there. For a guide book, its rather limited in scope and information. Still, its the only book of its kind right now so we are stuck with it.

This book is great for anyone who plans to visit any stadium or arena in the future. It gives all the facts you need to know about every stadium and arena in baseball, football, basketball, and hockey.

The best book of its kind for out of towners who want to see sports. Good for ancillary problems such as parking, food, etc. This book is in need of an update becuase so many new stadiums and arenas have come into use in recent years.

WAY OUTDATED!

This book was a huge dissapointment because it is so outdated! I did not pay attention to when it was published or I never would have bought it. My 2 favorite teams The Cleveland Browns and The Columbus Blue Jackets do not even show up in this book.

What a huge waste of money!

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! IT IS OUTDATED!

More than half of the venues listed in this book are no longer in use. They are either gone or have been replaced with new stadiums. This book needs to be updated to reflect all the new stadiums built in the last 6 years since the books printing.

Just fine for a passing score on CLEP

I just read through the book once and did the exercises while reading and I passed the CLEP on 2 hours' worth of sleep. One mustn't forget that the point of these books is to help you pass the CLEP, not learn all there is to know about US Business Law. If you read through this book, you will acquire a sufficient understanding of the major concepts and pass the exam. You will not get every question correct, but you will recognise that 70% of the exam is 10% of the material, which is what the book focusses on.

Book was an old version (pre-2000). It was not the latest version and the test is now different than the one given in this book. The book was also not new at all. It has lots of writing already done in it and it does not use the original book. The pages are copies of the original book, so I am sure some copyright laws have been broken. This should be investigated.

Beyond STUPID!

Review Date: 2008-01-12
I thought this book would be perfect for my stepfather who "knows all" and always acts like everyone else is an idiot. So I purchased this book, as well as "How to Confuse the Idiots in Your Life (Truth about Life)", for him for Christmas. As soon as they arrived, I looked them over & was horrified by how ridiculously stupid they both were throughout. I couldn't even bring myself to give either to him. Both titles are very misleading; I suggest they to be changed to "If You're an Idiot & Enjoy Stupid Humor, This Book's For You (1&2)!" Neither are for intelligent people. Don't get me wrong...I can laugh at slapstick, silly & sometimes even "potty" humor, but both books are just plain STUPID.

ITS FUNNY!

As the other reviewer said, it is a complete joke, BUT ITS HELLA FUNNY! I am a person who reads nonsense anyway and why would you buy a book titled "How to cope when youre surrounded by idiots or if you are one" if you didnt expect it to be a bunch of bull? Anywho, my point is that this book is extremely funny although it is pointless. I truthfully loved the book. If you have a lot of time on your hands and don't mind reading useless information, then it is the perfect book for ya.

When I first read the description of this book, it sounded interesting to a cynic like myself. I was expecting a witty but generally serious book with a real point, and this wasn't. It was mainly just a joke, and not a very good one at that.

A state of the art book on child abuse that is a must-read
Helpful Votes: 27 out of 28 total.
Review Date: 1999-02-18
As a developmental and clinical psychologist, this book has been invaluable to me in helping me make sense of the physical, psychological, social and legal facets of treating children who have suffered abuse. Dr. Heineman far surpasses any expert I have yet read or encountered in the field in terms of both her empathic clinical understanding and theoretical sophistication in the treatment of abused children and their families. You will find no glib twelve step programs or schematic guidelines, but instead a deep and thorough analysis of all the issues that confront us, both psychologically and socially, as we grapple with the painful reality that some children in our society are confronted with abuse rather than affection from the adults who are supposed to be caring for them. She is also a wonderful writer who brings her thoughts to life in the stories she tells of the children she has treated. A must-read for anyone concerned with this issue.

Society's moral level has changed, and even the moral standard has been perverted. Nowadays, if somebody models himself after a good samaritan, people will probably say he's crazy.Mankind's moral standard is on a big downslide, the world is going to the dogs, people are just controlled by greed, they harm others just to benefit themselves a little, and people just compete and fight. When is this gonna end!?....Well I know a SOLUTION: a remedy able to purge the pain and suffering that make us feel so vulnerable. It is called FALUN DAFA. Please join it (You wont regret it...I promise )

Falun Dafa --- Something One Must Never Practice

After reading this book, you may find out why the Chinese government wants to ban this cult. The founder of this cult claims that he has the choice of when to destroy the world, and is at least 10,000 more powerful than the Buddha. While it's wrong that the Chinese government has used so much violence on practitioners of Falun Dafa, it is equally erroneous to practice something that has led to insanity of many practioners.

If you're a student taking an accounting class that requires the 4th edition, beware of ISBN 978-0071101196. It's an international edition of this book and dastardly enough contains slight variations to the examples and exercises to the point that you'll be completely confused.

Now I'm stuck paying full price at the student bookstore because I can't wait for another shipment :(

A very systematic approach to Financial Accounting
Helpful Votes: 14 out of 15 total.
Review Date: 2000-08-19
I read this book as a part of my Accounting class in my Masters program. The book has a very systematic approach to teach the basic accounting principles. It has very nice real world examples at the beginning of each chapter. The chapters are in a very orderly manner. I did not have an accounting background at all. But the book taught things in a way that everything made sense chapter after chapter. Each chapter conveyed ideas that were basis for the subsequent chapters. The organization of the book is one of the best among the text books I have read. Every chapter has a demonstration problem that covers main concepts in that chapter. In addition to that there are quick check questions within the chapter which helps you to stop and recollect whatever you learnt till different points in a chapter. Reading this book is never tiresome because of this. Also there are problems in each chapter that if worked out properly will provide a very thorough knowledge of key concepts. As a whole, I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to start start learning Accounting. There are very minor errors in the answers given to some problems. But the way concepts are presented is very crisp and clear.

Dry and Factual

Review Date: 2001-04-26
Inspired by a trip to Capetown, I picked up "Robben Island" (the place where Nelson Mandela and countless other prisoners were interned for years) in the airport on my way out of South Africa. The jacket convinced me that the book would be a detailed history and a captivating read. Detailed it is; captivating it is most certainly not. If you want to get a true feeling of the island, read the words of people who inhabited it - the prisoners, the islanders, even the guards - not those of a journalistic reporter.

Insight and Inspiration

Review Date: 2002-08-04
On a visit to Robben Island, Cape Town we bought this book ahead of time. Although I had heard rave reviews of it on radio in South Africa and seen excellent newpaper and magazine reviews,I still thought it would be a dour summary of the history of this important site. However, I was thrilled by the evocative writing. The telling of stories in every chapter, whether we are being taken by a marine archaeologist working in Table Bay to the depths of the ocean to examine the incredible findings in this near perfect martime archaeological site, to the wonderful love story of Wilton and Irene Mkwayi who were the first people allowed to be married at the prison in teh 20th century - the couple were in their sixties, he was jailed with Nelson Mandela and she died not long after. The stories of the natural environment, the flora and fauna added richness to our explorations while on the Island. We could almost hear the myths and legends of the place and the seas ring to us as we stood on the beach and felt wind gust about us. My grandfather was in the Navy during the Second World War and I felt I could understand some of his experiences from the chapter on that time. The chapters on Robben Island as a prison, particularly a political prison gave me a whole new insight into this Island and the people who have risen to greatness despite being on it. I have since bought this book for others who have loved it and cannot recommend it too highly. J Myburgh.

Index is all wrong!!!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2004-10-18
This book is completely useless because the index and table of cases cites incorrect pages!!! Chevron v. NRDC is apparently cited in note 7 on page 95, but there is no note 7 on page 95!!! In fact, there is no mention of Chevron on the entire page!!! Pages 411-414 are supposed to be some sort of deep discussion on the case, but again, nothing about Chevron there!!! This has been a complete waste of money. If the index can be so screwed, I wonder if the analysis in the book is worth anything at all.

Excellent

Review Date: 2005-10-15
The previous reviewer is incorrect. The copy of Understanding Administrative Law that I am selling has Chevron cited to p.77 n.7, not 95, and on p.77, there is indeed a note cite to Chevron. As well, Chevron is not cited to 411. As far as I know, the cites are all correct. Either his/her, or my, copy is an anomaly.

The book was quite essential to my doing well in Admin Law. And those familiar with the Understanding Series can attest to their general usefulness.
