Great Windows 98 Book!

I teach at two community colleges and have taught various versions of Windows including 95, 98, NT and now 2000. I have never found a better book for teaching. This book is easy to follow and has ample practice files to help the individual work through the lessons. The book covers Windows more thoroughly than any of the five other books I have used and previewed. It is well worth every nickel! This is a great book not only for the beginner, but also for the expert needing to utilize all Windows has to offer. I highly recommend this book!

Midnight High: The Deadly Art of Tom Artis

ARTIS GETS HIS DUE!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-01
Well the cover to Midnight High just about says it all with its cute, well-endowed ladies in short school girl outfits being menaced by zombies. The book showcases the talents of artist Tom Artis in his first collection. Artis apprenticed to one of my personal favorites of the 70's and 80's, Tim Conrad. In A lengthy introduction, Artis discusses his rather turbulent years working in the comics industry, particularly with DC. Thankfully Artis didn't throw in the towel and many more forward thinking people recognized his talent.

Collected within the 64 pages of this book from SQ Productions is a showcase of Artis' comic work, and other illustrations featuring buxom ice cream girls, waitresses and beer wenches, stylish new heroes, robots, and all sorts of beasties and creatures most foul. The examples of Artis' creativeness abound such as his Flash Gordon illustration which features a sexy Dale Arden lustfully eyeing the beautiful Princess Allura. There's also a Lady Death style clone that Artis did for a competitor who has ENORMOUS assets!

A favorite piece is the two cute sex-pots in skimpy tennis outfits in a cemetery getting attacked by a pair of vampires crawling out of their graves. Then there is the illustration of a trio of "innocent" schoolgirls unwrapping a mummy's "nether" region to get a closer look at his "Staff of Anubis". Apparently they like what they see! There's also a wonderfully humorous piece of a librarian vigorously strip-searching a suspected book thief. Artis' work is playful yet sexy and his buxom women have a decided edge to them. It's a fun book by a very underrated artist who certainly deserves more attention. Kudos to SQP for spotlighting Tom Artis!

Viewing the historyof medicine as it unfolded

What a wonderful surprise when one stumbles upon a gem of a book. Miss Susie Slagle's is a wonderfully told combination of school-boy story (Johns Hopkins Medical School), history of medicine--the history of early Johns Hopkins hospital is the history of modern medicine in America--and early 20th century romance. I recommend it for all who love seeing the past through the eyes of its participants, even if fictional.

This book gives you a present day, and historical look at the Mission. It captures so much of the spirit. It is beautifully photographed, each picture being a treasure in itself. It is wonderfully illustrated - the artist certainly understands the Mission, and it is so well written. The author paints a picture of the old and new in an amazing way. The whole book is a work of art in itself.

If you have ever visited the Mission, or intend to visit it, or any other of the Missions this book is a must read. It will make your visit a truly personal experience.

Stunning!

The book is stunning! It's a negotiation in more ways than you can imagine but when you meet Cooper, you'll fall absolutely in love......he's not only handsome, rich, smart, and has a sense of humour, he's sexy and sensitive. I have to mention that the Presents title does not reflect the storyline or the power it delivers but as we all know sometimes authors don't get a choice.

Ariel well as far as I'm concerned she's the "star" of this book. She's was rescued by a wonderful woman who she calls Aunt Barb. She was an orphan and Barb found her wrapped in an "art" canvas when she was a small child. Barb has given her a meaning to live and a sense of family. How can a reader not be drawn to this woman, this beautiful, funny, talented artist who wants to keep Aunt Barb's memory and art gallery alive? And guess what? Cooper's corporation wants to take it away from her.....buy and develop the site.

How they initially meet, what transpires and the chemistry between Cooper and Ariel sizzles right off the page. Their interaction, the cat and mouse game they play from the beginning to end, your heart will clench. I adored this book; it's charming, funny and sexy and extremely moving thanks to Nicola Marsh!

A Great Windows 98 Educational Resource!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 1998-10-04
The Windows 98 operating system offers much in the way of special features not found in previous releases of the Windows operating system. Make no mistake about it, Windows 98 is changing the way computers operate. It is therefore essential for students, hobbyists, and employees alike to keep up on the latest advances being made in this computer software technology.

Following on the successful coattails of Que's Easy Windows 98, Joe Kraynak has written More Easy Windows 98 to offer a more-detailed instruction guide on the operation and use of Windows 98. The book offers noticeable in-depth coverage of the more advanced Windows features that make it an excellent companion volume to Easy Windows 98.

The book picks up by showing readers how to optimize their computer systems and configure Windows to meet their own individual requirements. As the result of reading this book readers will learn how to speed up the operation and use of their computers, reclaim disk space, adjust virtual memory settings, adjust printer performance, manage fonts, and much more. The book offers many helpful timesaving tips, shortcuts, and helpful troubleshooting solutions. A glossary of basic terms is provided at the back of book.

While this book does not offer the detailed coverage provided in other books discussing the Windows 98 operating system it does make an important contribution to the computing community. Its major strengths are the format, quality illustrations, and ease of reading that contribute to making this book an effective educational resource for use at home, the office, and classroom. It is serious but non-threatening reading for anyone who wants to dig deeper and get ahead!

Lots of wheat, very little chaff

I recently installed windows 98 second edition on several PCs at home and work and have been looking for a useful reference manual. This book is full of easier, quicker ways to use windows 98se, including many simple ideas that are easy to implement. Virtually every page offered something helpful. Amazingly, there was very little obvious stuff that most books spend most of the pages regurgitating.

A FAMILY WORTH FIGHTING FOR...At last--a man to share her life with, have kids with. And Adam Bradbury, the new pediatric surgeon, seemd to feel the same. he was a devoted father with a burning desire to seek sanctuary in Anna's arms. Their passion was instant, their tenderness acut, yet he wouldn't let Anna into his family's life. Adam understood about a woman's need to hold her own child, and no matter how much she might love his kids, that need would eventually drive her away. For Adam knew he could never give Anna what she really needed. And Anna knew that he was just plain...wrong!
