I've read several books on priestly celibacy over the years and this seems to be the best! It goes over the history of celibacy, the theology, the formation for living as a celibate, and more. This is a must-have for any priest, seminarian, or religious. Fully documented and gives a 100% positive view of celibacy.

Challenge to the received understanding of Celibacy

This is a truly important book in the discussion of priestly celibacy in the Roman Catholic Church. It presents a view of the history of celibacy that is strongly at odds with the normal views accepted by many, including priests and bishops here in the United States. Chaste celibacy and continency were the normal way of living the priestly vocation, even among married men who were ordained. It is not that the Roman Catholic Church introduced this practice some centuries later, but that that possibility of living with a wife as husband and wife was introduced later by the Eastern Churches. The book also presents a good spirituality of celiacy, based primarily on the writings of Pope John Paul II.

This is a fantastic book for school professionals to read. It's easy reading and puts it in a format to help the teacher and others at the school know what your child needs and how to attain it.

I found a link to this on James Curcio's website and as I've liked most of what he's put out so far I figured I should check this out as well.

I'm not sure exactly how to describe it. I got an eerie sense as I read this that I was looking into the future through a crystal ball, and the images I saw there were both haunting and beautiful. Though fully illustrated this book isn't exactly a graphic novel... it's not a comic, but more like a narrative with suggestive or related imagery.

It seems that the next release from Fas Ferox will be more like a comic.

Good and succinct, structured textbook

J. Turner has been famous for his textbook on sociological theory. for example his 'The Structure of Sociological Theory' was now out of print for its content is so out of date that it would rather write whole other book than update. to keep up with the current, the volume of book should be too bulky to be used on class. but it was very concise and adaquately structured account on theoretical edifice. this book is not for contemporary theories but for classical theories like Marx, Weber, Durkheim. and that it has all the advantage of his previous title had: succinct and unbiased account of theories with explanation of theoritical background. and better, this book covers the historical background of theory. sure this kind of purpose, Giddens's 'Capitalism and Social Theory' should be better but this book covers not merely 3 masters but Comte, Spencer, Simmel, Pareto in coherent style

FAS - A CRY FOR HELP is a biographical account of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effects. There is much research being done in behalf of FAS/FAE, but not much has been written about the personal day to day encounters and experiences with the behavorial problems. This book documents some of the trials and tribulations in living and dealing with this disability that is 100% preventable!
Sandra and her husband adopted two granddaughters. She did not have any idea what the girls were plagued with, but through much research and study about a subject that she didn't even know existed, she learned.
The devasation of one child effected with Fetal Alcohol is difficult enough for parents, but Sandra was dealing with two granddaughters who were born 15 months apart and had been raising them both since they were born. When the girls were teenagers, Sandra learned about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effects/Exposure.
The rages were frequent and harsh and Sandra and Ken were always in the middle and always the ones to have to call 911. Many times they were the ones who were abused. But, mostly it was one girl or the other. The girls were quite different in some respects and yet they were similar, because they were both very angry young ladies. They could not breathe the same air. They could not walk through a room without jumping on each other for the silliest of reasons. But, those actions caused them to spend many days and nights in, not only juvenile lock-up, but in the adult county jail. And, that was not where either one of them should have been. With the loss of knowledge for cause and effect, neither one of them understood why they were locked up!
Sandra wants to help other families who are going through these difficulties and advises people to read her book with an open mind and glean from it what might make their lives easier. The whole intent of the book is to educate others.
Please investigate this book and learn more about this devasting disability.

Useful and applicable Information
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-09-05
The information throughout this book can be extremely useful to many people and in many different ways. This book takes a complex regulation and clarifies it in an organized layout. The book dives into SAP revaluation functionality and the technical set up is explained in detail. At times resources don't know if their company is in complete compliance. However with a better understanding of the requirements, and SAP postings made during revaluation (depending on the method being used), can highlight potential issues or concerns and assist with making appropriate changes as needed.

Not a good source of information on FAS 52

Review Date: 2006-07-17
The following statement from the editorial review is completely misleading.

"With essential information on the proper rules and regulations needed to comply with FAS 52, SAP Foreign Currency Revaluation: FAS 52 and GAAP Requirements is a valuable reference for controllers, CFOs, IT and accounting managers, and SAP consultants who are involved in FAS 52 compliance projects, regardless of whether their companies are using SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, or proprietary software."

There is nothing in this book of value to a CFO, IT or Accounting manager. Only 4 pages in the entire book discussing the implications of FAS 52.
