This is an *excellent* book!!!!!!
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to excel in giving good customer service. I have a background in retail, social psych, and market research, with experience in customer satisfaction research studies - and I found this book extremely useful. Not only did I learn a lot from it, but it also put much of what I have learned along the way (and feel as a consumer) into writing! It can help you plan a customer service program for your store or company, whether your company is brand-new or pre-existing. It is a little dry at times, but also has some great examples of what you should do or not do. I'd buy the book just for them!

Mr. Ripperda took the notion of supplements to an EIR to new heights. Not to be missed by CEQA connoiseurs. A lawsuit to the adequacy of this document was thrown out of court in five minutes! Delightful!

The Undesirable Journalist
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2001-01-23
This book is about a german journalist who goes undercover as a Turkish worker to investigate the ways immigrant workers are treated in the german work environment. This book is really interesting and it will amaze you how a very advanced society can treat another human the way they do if they know they are superior to the other person.

A Bridge in Time.
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2002-04-25
We recently re-visited Death Valley after a period of 30 years. This time, we had the help of the wonderful guide, "Geology of Death Valley" by Martin and Wright. The wonderful pictures really match the splendor of the Valley. The text offers a bit more insight into the world of geology than the usual "been there, done that" kind of guide book one usually finds on display for our national parks. The book forms a bridge between the world of every day living and the wonders of geologic time -- a guide to appreciating the stratigraphy of the valley.

Hint for the University toward the Future
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2004-02-29
This title gives informative survay and forcast on the university toward the future.
Global and virtual are the keywords of the university.
By reviewing current universities in the world, this book forcasts that everybody, young and old,men and women, can join any class and take any professor's class through the communication networks as their avatars as if they were gathered at the same place.
The authors predicate that the class in the future will be constructed based on HyperReality.HyperReality is a very attractive and strong concept which will provide the communication means between the real peopla and the virtual people.
The virtual people means avatars and/or computer agents.the avatar is a one to one corespondence to its real people.
The avatar's motion is controlled by its real human motion.
Then in HyperReality, people, real and virtual, interact together.
Through Hyperreality, people who are at different locations are brought together through the communication networks and hold a class as if they were gathered at the same place.
It is very attractive and informative.
I recommend everybody who is interested in the university in the future to read this title strongly.

a must for Michael Collins fans
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2004-05-09
As in most fiction dealing with Collins, you should really have a basic factual grounding about him before you read this novel. Fitzgibbon does not/not follow factual details in his book. However, the atmospherics ring completely true to what I've read about Collins, given that the author is engaging in speculation about how Collins may have felt and thought. Well-written, lyrical in many places, I couldn't put it down. However, if you like pragmatic, factual treatments, you may not like this as much as I did.

Applicable to all types of Distance Learning
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-08-03
I have been a consumer (ie student) of Distance Learning for many years. My lecturers (and their HOD) would certanly have benefited had they read this book first.
Even though I am not present in the classroom, I still need a willing teacher to interact with. This fact is often overlooked by faculty heads.
The writing style is informal but there is obviously some deep thought that has gone into the book. Applicable to more than just Tourism Studies.

This is a definitive book for newcomers to the field of CHE
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 1997-06-21
This text provides a practical comprehensive over- view of CHE within Postsecondary institutions. It serves as an excellent source for professional continuing educators who are responsible for the planning, administration, and evaluation of CE programs offered by colleges and universities. The book provides an overview and history of CHE and its major components. Philisophical issues, organizational models, financial structures, program planning, marketing, delivery systems, needs assessment, and research and evaluation are all topics covered in the text. I recommend this book for both newcomers to the field of Continuing Higher Education as well as for those persons who have had experience in the field.
