Sex tourism is only briefly discussed in this book. For readers interested in a fictional, yet serious account of that topic, they may want to read Naked in Haiti: A sexy morality tale about tourists, prostitutes & politicians.

Tourism isn't just fun, its subject of scientific research

I have been doing reseacrh on tourism in Quintana Roo, Mexico for the last 5 years. Tourism is the main economical activity of Q. Roo, represents roughly 33% of all tourism in Mexico. To study the complex development of tourism in Q Roo, I found the book Global Tourism very useful providing both theory and empirical tools. The new edition is not merely a substitution of the new one but enhances my understanding of tourism and provides excelent framework for the study of the development of places like Quintana Roo in Mexico as well as other touristic areas in the world. I highly recommend Global Tourism not only for researchers but for anybody involved in the tourism industry. I think it will make easier the task of bridging communication among all parties interested in making tourism a real tool for sustainable development.

It is not possible to be a successful exporter without having and using the information contained in this reference guide. It covers everything from quoting prices to shipping overseas and collecting upon receipt of shipment. Having lived and worked in Mexico City for many years, I'm quite familiar with the sort of problems often encountered by foreign businessmen arriving here for the first time. I believe The American Chamber's Guide to Mexico Business (8th edition) is probably the most useful tool they can get their hands on. The guide has piles of sensibly organized information which covers every topic imaginable: from the cultural aspects of local business and living in Mexico to far more technical areas such as legal aspects, contact finding, and setting up shop. What sets this guide apart from others, in my view, is the insider information - each chapter is written by top-notch local experts in the field and not by a foreign writer trying to interpret unfamiliar information. Nobody has as much Mexico business experience as the people at the American Chamber and I have no hesitation in recommending this book to anyone seeking a comprehensive guide to every aspect of working, doing business and living in Mexico - I only wish I'd got hold of a copy sooner!

The best, and probably only of its kind

I have been doing business in Mexico for over 15 years, and I have come to rely on this book for its information. For anyone who does business in Mexico, you know that information--hard facts--is the scarcest commodity of all. I have sat on the phone for hours trying to get clues and make contacts.

This book spells it all out, does all the legwork for you. It also gives advice on any step of the process you might need, from setting up a sales plan to going into a joint venture.

This book comes highly recommended by me personally. It is required reading for my staff.

I've been recommending this book for years in my How To Support Your Wanderlust seminars. It's designed for entrepreneurial gypsies who are starting on a shoestring. The author's personal experience as a successful importer is woven into every page.

There are plenty of books on importing for people with huge capital resources; this is the one for the rest of us who want to find a proven way to fund our travels.

Wonderful, Informative, a Necessity

Import/Export for Dummies is a useful tool for anyone interested in seeking opportunities in importing or exporting. After reading the book I learned more than I anticipated, and my mind is enlightened to many details that I was not aware of prior to reading it. For example I am currently seeking opportunities to import goods to the United States from the Czech Republic, such as pudding-yogurts. The book informed me of all that I need to consider to make any potential deal or order go through smoothly without any penalties or errors that could result in a financial loss. It provided me the guidelines I will need in negotiating with prospective suppliers in the Czech Republic, and how to go about identifying customers in the U.S.

The book is written in a simple and clear approach.

The book is easy to understand and its simplicity is amazing. It is segmented into five parts which focus on setting up the business, learning how to identify applicable rules and regulations, identifying suppliers, find customers and develop an understanding about certain procedures that are unique in importing and exporting (such as: terms of sale, methods of payment, customs clearance procedures, etc.)

As in most Dummies books, examples are abundant, and the author has provided great insight with examples from his professional life and students who attended his seminars.

The book is also full of excellent resources, including a detailed list international trade commission offices for all countries located throughout the United States. These offices can provide assistance in identifying suppliers and also provide valuable insight in the how to do business in specific countries. Additionally, the book also provides information as to various free resources available on the internet.

I would rate this book as an absolute necessity for someone interested in starting their own import or export business. It is the "bible" of importing and exporting that can help inform, warn, and assist you in what you need to know, and do, to make sure the goods you are importing or exporting will move without problems.

I use this textbook and its previous edition to teach International Business to senior level students in cyberspace. I consider this the most readable text on the subject. This edition has been slimmed down from the previous edition, and it is an improvement to an excellent text. My students agree that this text is great.

Anyone who needs a comprehensive book on this field should purchase this text, it is worth every penny!

This is the book I'd require any new economic development professional in my organization to read... and encourage any public official or community leader honestly working to improve our community's economic development to read this book and understand its message.

Mr. Holbrook's The Little Black Book of Economic Development is much more than this, but it is worth its cost just for the list of supportive quotations from a 'who's who' list of economic development professionals from across the country.

This book is fascinating. It is a very complete study of the influence of europen culture, art and crafts on the Maharajas of India, encompassing all forms of consumer goods... cars, jewels, trains, etc, etc. All these works of art are the result of intense cultural and economic exchange between both worlds and the book emphasizes this very well. A scholarly publication well served by wonderful photographs.

"Made For Maharajas" is especially recommended for academic library collections

Dr. Amin Jaffer is a curator in the Asian Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London where he specializes in Indian art and culture during the era of European influence during the British Raj period (1857-1947). With "Made For Maharajas: A Design Diary Of Princely India", Dr. Amin has compiled with narrative commentary an impressive historical overview of art and luxury goods in all manner of media and associated with the aristocracy of the maharajas during these centuries. Superbly illustrated with 290 images (150 of which are in full color), the representative and custom-made artifacts range from private airplanes and luxury cars, to chandeliers, gold dinnerware, couture fashions, fine leather goods, houses, furniture, jewelry, and more. Dr. Amin drew upon the archives of firms that included Louis Vuitton, Boucheron, Chaumet, Cartier, and Hermies, he had access to palace and private collections, and employing his own extensive expertise, has written a text that is as entertaining as it is informative in revealing the extraordinarily varied works commissioned by princes whose personal wealth was exceeded only by their eccentricities. As an impeccable work of scholarship in a coffee-table art book format, "Made For Maharajas" is especially recommended for academic library collections and would make a superb choice as a community library Memorial Fund acquisition.
