This book was nothing more than copying Code of Federal Regulation.
It was time and money waste.
I don't understand why and how this kind of book can be published.

This book is devoid of plot, though the use of 6-point type and an antiquated font (namely:82Gremlin) make this an enjoyable read, particularly if you're the kind of person who enjoys consuming toenail clippings and pizzette with prociutto. I can't suggest you read this if your intelligence roll was less than a 17, though if you have a +2 mace or the magic missile spell, you might be able to guilbault a dungeon or two.

I bought "A Guide to Doing Business in Japan" in preparation for an upcoming. month-long business trip to Japan. Having been to the island nation once before, I figured that a little brush-up on etiquette, practices, and customs couldn't hurt. This wasn't the book for that, however. "A Guide to Doing Business in Japan" is focused on helping those who want to set up businesses in Japan, not those who visit. It is very easy to read, but the information is only centered around legal issues, real estate practices, descriptions of the business calendar, and like topics. There is little to be gained here for a short trip on business.

Additionally, the book has become quite outdated. Published in 1996, it fails to cover any of the situations brought about since the Asian economic crisis and Japan's own banking system failures. It is in bad need of a refresh, and even more so a re-titling. Casual business travelers would be better off buying one of the tourist-oriented guides to Japan that demonstrate how to deal with it's people and culture.

It is so sad how wrong someone can be proven over and over again and still, he/she is rewarded, called a genius and is allowed to teach our youth. Here is a quote from the author: "Can economic command significantly... accelerate the growth process? The remarkable performance of the Soviet Union suggests that it can... Today the Soviet Union is a country whose economic achievements bear comparison with those of the United States." This was in 1989, just shortly before the Societ Union collapsed. Unfortunately, being this wrong in economics gives one awards and allows you to teach college students while being described a genius. Sad. Mr. Thurow may be a 'genius', but geniuses can be wrong too.

One of the few books that I found so far dealing with the exciting world of exporting products through distributors. Rather superficial in cultural content, overly detailed and unrealistically specific in calculating costs and margin-structures. Not really worth the rather high price.

Not what I expected. I need to know specifically which items I can ship outside the US and which I can't. This did not help at all.

Before moving to the content of the book the editng and presentation of the material deserve some comment. The author recommends the use of spellchecker; this isn't bad advice but he should extend careful proof reading to his own text. Bill of Lading comes to mind. The pages of example forms look like the output from a photocopier in need of toner. The editor and publisher haven't done the author any favors.

Leaving aside editorial and printing annoyances, they did not detract from the content this was worse. The author wastes alot of time and space describing the IT skills, business wirining skills and sells skills required for a small business. Fine, but other books do this much better.

I was looking that something that would give me the mechanics of import ecport. Contnet was too superficial to be of practical value. The Customs guide is more useful. I later bought How Samll Business Trades World Wide (John Wiley Spiers)- this is more comprehensive and practical.

I can't coomend any aspect of this "Import Export From Home". It has nothing to offer me.

This is the worst industry guide of any sort ive ever seen, it is absolutely awful.The book is just full of contacts and out of date information. The report at the back book is available on the internet. This is no way worth $10 never mind $99 !

I ordered this book and they sent me the 2nd edition. Requested a replacement for wrong product and it too was 2nd edition. This shows the 3rd edition in the info with a 2008 copyright. When dealing with Russia Business you need the current information and getting back editions is not acceptable. Disappointed in Amazon on this one.
