Very Poor BookReview Date: 2007-12-25
Based on this experience I purchased this earlier book and now regret it.
The cover of this book is very misleading as to the contents.
The pictures are mostly black and white, taken at a distance, out of focus, and poorly printed.
This book is of little help when learning Chinese porcelain because the main attributes that educate are the subtle color variations used in the enamels and the base form which is not shown at all in this book.
Also, the captions of the photos do not provide specific information such as dates, kilns, etc.
The majority of this book is devoted to Rose Medallion when there are countless other decorations the Chinese produced during the era this book covers.
Finally, the type face and printing used in this book is most primative, amateur, and unpleasant.
I highly recommend you do not buy this book unless you have low expectations and are mainly interested in Rose Medallion dinnerware.

I suspect Ms. Dunung has never even been to Asia, for, as a business man myself who has been working there for many decades, I see no hard earned knowledge or awareness in her assuptions.
If you're doing business in Asia, this books IS valuable.Review Date: 1999-03-30

Anyone should have known then that this Russian report was politically inspired and completely fabricated. When the Soviet Union finally toppled, in 1991, Bezymenskii admitted in several interviews that he was forced to invent the "missing testicle" story to avoid being sent to a Gulag. I guess that was motivation enough, but this idiotic fiction fooled many in the intervening thirty years.
The book is dry, poorly translated and contains proven lies. There's no point in reading it unless you want a laugh or two.

Chances are you're not going to pay this outrageous price for such a boring book unless you are forced to for a class, as was my case. It's bad enough that the publisher has jacked up the price into the stratosphere, but to rub it in with black and white pictures is just wrong. Shame on McGraw Hill. Shame on the author. Shame on everyone involved in the selling of this book, including Amazon.
Then there's the content of the book. And even by marketing standards (this is my 4th marketing class) it's outrageously bland and dull.
