Every member of our consulting staff has a copy of this publication, even those who are not directly involved in accounting and financial matters. It is used extensively in developing export pricing, forecasting and budgeting programs. An excellent business investment for serious exporters.

Provides a clear view of trade barriers and regulations

Being a coalminer's daughter, this book told it like it was when I was growing up in this area. The personal stories of the ancestors of people I know today made it hard to put down. As I read, I could see the forming of my hometown and surrounding areas.

Exporting To Canada: A Guide For American Countries by Gerhard Kautz (president of GWEM Systems Limited, a Canad-based international marketing consulting company doing business in more than forty countries) is a no-nonsense, practical primer for expanding one's business market to international dimensions with a maximum of profit and a minimum of difficulty. Chapters cover how Canadian business culture differs from that of the U.S., the metric system, the North American Free Trade Agreement, consumer profiles, intellectual property protection in Canada and much, much more. Exporting To Canada is an excellent and recommended basic business primer for anyone considering going international - especially in this modern century with auction sites and sales for the Internet that make doing business with another nation only a mouse click away!

If you have any interest in World War II spying, you need to hunt down a copy of this book. Written during the fall of 1945, this account of how England's collection of double agents fed false information to the German Abwehr is based directly on the document files of the Twenty Committee (the organization that "ran" the double agents), and is by one of the officers from that group.

This book was originally written as an internal report, but fortunately Sir John (as he later became) kept a copy and was finally able to get it published.

Surprisingly readable for an official report, this book is worth the effort of finding it.

Ian Guild is well known in the Forfaiting (Amazon, please note, your spelling is incorrect!)arena and this book of his has helped many a practitioner and neophyte alike. Starting from basics, the authors outline the origin of forfaiting, its advantages and drawbacks, the technicalities behind forfaiting quotations, quote comparision. Most interesting of all are the key cases discussed which bring out both the operational as well as legal angles to forfaiting. You do not have to be an expert to understand the subject; Guild and Harris have a gift for simplifying concepts and making them easy to understand. Highly recommended, even though the book is now old.

I worked first-hand with reformers marketing civil society and democratic participation in the run-up to Ukraine's Orange Revolution, and so I was drawn to this new book about the future of the Former Soviet Union after a review of it in The Economist (2/2/06) piqued my interest. (Full disclosure: I also know the author.) As the review notes, communism "once divided the world into two camps, with a grey zone in between. Now capitalism has similarly divided the former captive nations." So what are today's dividing lines, as so articulately and convincingly described in this book? The newest members of the EU, who increasingly participate in the world economy vs. the more insular nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), who are being drawn into a new, isolated Russian Empire. (The war-torn Ballkan states represent the grey area in between.) Wow! I had no idea that World Bank economists actually could write interesting--and relevant--stuff, especially uncovering trends that will surely affect the world economy's future, if not our national security and those of future generations. The principal author of this book, Harry Broadman, is obviously an exception. Read the book to uncover the reasons behind this rapidly emerging state of affairs -- which evokes a certain sense of historical deja vu -- and to find out what can be done about it. The key lies in the fact that contrary to what might be conventionally thought, it is the lack of domestic--or what the book calls "behind-the-border"--reforms, rather than international factors, that account for the current gap between these camps and their relative success in integrating internationally. Put another way, what goes on behind the "curtain" is once again posing a threat to us; but, regrettably, most of us don't see it. I admit that books about economic affairs may not strike many as sexy--especially if they come out of the Bank--but this one is.

The book offers exceptional overview of the international regime of business transactions. Unlike other similar materials, the book in question includes outstanding comparative analysis and makes substantial recourse to the lasw not only of the USA, but also many European countries and supplies rich international materials based on the international litigation and arbitration. The author offers exceptionally up-to-date information which undoubtedly makes this book of great help for anyone who is considering doing, or is already involved into, international business transactions.

The late Sylvian Hamilton penned an all-to-brief series of medieval mysteries, this being the third installment. Her style of writing, inventive story line, interesting characters and dry wit make for some very entertaining reading. Haven't read it? Start with "The Bone Peddler" and move forward. Her final book will be published posthumously in 2008----I've pre-ordered!
