This book is the best guide I have seen to keep me, a Network Marketer, focused on my daily tasks and goals. The 'quotes' are all appropiate and wise. The 'questions' associated with the quotes are designed to make entreprenuers think more constructively about building a "people" business and being good leaders to their downline organization. The 'daily affirmations' are mini road maps that will guide you on your journey to success! This book has been well planned and it is a much needed addition to any other self help books or systems that any Network Marketer is currently using. Thanks and Bravo to the authors, Tricia Seymore and Rusty Barrier.

If you want to start your own PRODUCT-BASED business while keeping your day job, read this book. The book mixes advice and anecdotes to take you through the process of developing a product from concept to completed product and then taking it to market.

The step-by-step format combined with the author's real-world experiences (including what worked and what didn't) illustrate the creativity and dogged determination that is required to be a successful bootstrapping entrepreneur.

When you start your first business, you do not have the luxury of either time or money to make many mistakes. This book will help you avoid the pitfalls that stop many early-stage companies in their tracks and help you position your company from the beginning for success.

This is an enlightening book that provides a road map to success in a small business. The book gives, step-by-step, a comprehensive guideline of a business start-up process, identifying target customers, promoting the business, doing the cash flow forecasts, budgeting and other important issues. I found the information to be very practical and provides critical advice to help entrepreneurs avoid costly errors.

The book is well written in an easy to follow and understand format. The experienced entrepreneur as well as the beginner will find the book useful, helpful and handy as it provides real life advice that will help your business to stay afloat and thrive.

Vernon R. Alden, a multifacited person and scholar, left an enduduring legacy at Ohio University. As president he aspired to build a university of national prominence, and he pursued those aspirations with a passion. He helped to forge the institution that many of us know today - a beautiful cosmopolitan campus born out of his international influence, his sense of style, and his ability to get things done. This book is not a book on technique or a "how to be more like me" book. It is a book that outlines spiritual principles that all of us need to know as we serve the church and God. This has been one of the books that I have constantly referred to over the years and will continue to go back to.

Church management in step with business management
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 1999-01-30
This book updates church management to a model that works now. Too many churches still operate under a model where the minister is the absolute authority figure. Underlying spiritual principles support creating a loving, nurturing Christian team ministry where each and every member can become involved. Every ministry within the church becomes part of a support system. Even those who are difficult can find love, help and support in this model. For example, those in recovery from old hurts or substance abuse, the grief stricken, or those on the fringes of mental health have the potential to distrupt worship or interfere with church activities. They may not ready to be part of the mainstream, but there is a place for them to grow into the mainstream with God's help. This is a wonderful book, full of passion and wisdom and it comes from a man who leads a church with over 4,000 in attendance each Sunday. In other words, it is based on a highly successful ministry. He opens his heart and mind to the reader, providing information and inspiration. It's a great read!

A book that gets at the heart of raising start up capital

I have been in the capital raising business for many years and I strongly recommend this book for anyone attempting to raise capital for the first time. I also recommend it for financial planners, bankers, attorneys and accountants in case a client is interested in raising capital for a venture. This book is very direct. It covers well the type of money available for start-up businesses and how to go about getting it. A few important things it points out is that you must have a sound business in place if you expect to get the professional money people interested and you must have a professional business plan that tells them all about your business. Raising capital is no different than any other business. It takes a good product, good management in place, and a lot of long hours contacting the right people and selling hard. Finally, after you raise the money, the real hard work begins, for you have expectations of your investors to make good.

Choosing a source of financing for uour new business

START UP FINANCING discusses the various sources of startup money for a new or growing business. It gives the pros and cons of each type of financing. It also discusses in some detail what each type of investor or lender is looking for in making a decision to become involved with your company Several very important issues that every entrepreneur must keep in mind are the following: 1. Your strategy for the business must be sound to have a hope of raising money from any source. You must have identified and described the unique features of your product or service and the existence of a market for this product or service. In the words of Mary Kay Ash, the founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics--"Money isn't everything you also have to know what you are doing." 2. You must remember that in raising financing for your business your marketing skills may be just as important as your entrepreneurial skills. Whether you like it or not you must be a pretty good sales person. And, you have only several t

This book covers everything you wanted to know about Retail!
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-31
The cover of this book made me hesitant to guy. But, after reading its prologue i decided to take a chance and was glad i did.

I recently purchased several retail books, including this one. Of these books, I found this one most useful.

One problem i have had with other retail books is that they spent too much time talking about hiring/firing people, incorporating the business etc. and very little on running the business itself (advertising, customer sales, inventory control, store look etc).

With that said, this book really focuses on the core elements of operating a retail business. It has chapters dedicated to your store layout, inventory control, pricing and negotiating with your suppliers, day-to-day operations, etc. It also does have chapters focused on incorporating, naming business, advertising, sales techniques, trademarking, website etc. But, focus is on running a retail business, how to make sales, how to keep costs in line with your budget.

I am somewhat generalizing here as i cant really explain how in depth this book really is. I can only say that if you want to start a retail business, whether its a coffee shop or a department store, then definitely buy this book!

I enjoyed this book so much, that i have since purchased other books under this publisher series.

Great book!
