This is an excellent product. The video lessons themselves are really valuable, showing you how to perform functions in the software. The instruction manuals are really well-written and simple to follow. It covers all the same material as classroom trainings, at a fraction of the cost. If you want a great value and a superb learning tool, this is for you!

Finally a book that explains the objective and not just what the software is capable of doing!

I would highly recommend this book to any person using Office 2003 in a business environment. Gini Courter and Annette Marquis had anticipated my questions and not only provided highly informative answers but extremely useful tips and advice. Additionally, the examples will assist readers from an entry level to expert.

My bookshelf is crammed with reference guides for application software. Recently I have purchased a number of titles written by Courter and Marquis as I find their writing style so easy to read and interpret. Once again I have not been disappointed with this title.

I've only just begun reading this book, but have learned something on each and every page. I bought it at the suggestion of a colleague who attends seminars given by the authors. She raves about their knowledge and ability to easily give instructions on using software applications as they "write the manuals", and I can confirm that they "know their stuff."

This book is a great resource for both people who have used other Office versions and for those who are beginners. The explanations are great and the pictures really help you understand what is going on. My copy of this book has been borrowed numerous times by others in my office. They love the book just as much as I do.

Mr. Rey Galang did a great job with this book, and I hope that otehr authors will in the future try to reach the same level. The book is beautifuly done, instructors presented are well chosen, and the overall atmosphere breathes good will and cooperation. Subjects covered by different instructors do not overlap, which contributed to even greater information value. I would like that some people (most notably Jim Keating and Ron Balicki) had the time for better illustrated efforts, as well as that there had been some other experts as well...but than againg, maybe thet would make the book grow out of proportion. Still, nobody says there shouldn't be a sequel! Just one suggestion to Mr. Galang, in case he should see this review - maybe in the Part II, you could introduce some more European instructors, thus providing greatly appreciated info for those of us living out of USA.

This book identifies the major knife instructors currently active in the U.S.A., permits them to briefly discuss their art, and illustrates through a series of photographs some of the techniques characteristic of their particular style.

While there is one bowie knife instructor, most of the instruction is based on the Filipino arts. A surprising number of styles are offshoots of Lameco Eskrima, the art of the late Punong Guro Edgar G. Sulite. Lameco is a blend of long (LArgo), medium (MEdio), and short (COrto)range movements, and appears particularly agreeable to knife.

The book does not list instructor's addresses or telephone numbers. Some instructors (Guro Felix Valencia, for example, who tends to be fully booked with government agencies) are difficult to find even with modern search engines, but a few moments with google should solve most of the problem.

The defensive knife world is in a constant state of change as some instructors retire or otherwise leave the arena and senior students rise to take their places. Over time, the book may (unless revised) become dated, but Masters of the Blade accurately reflected its subject matter on the date of publication.

This is a little book with a lot to say. There is some great insight that the author offers from years of counseling with people whose words meant nothing when they told themselves things, and even less when others heard them spoken.
As is often the case, years of seeing the same thing over and over reveals a pattern that is seldom seen by those caught in the cycle. Then that pattern is applied to the problem we see in our society with words that mean very little when spoken at the alter.
A great read for anyone who is approaching marriage, has had a spouse leave them, or is involved with an addict of any kind.

Deeper and more challenging than I expected

When I purchased this book (I got the audio version), I expected it to focus specifically on marriage. It has some of that focus, but the real focus is our words/commitments that are often so meaningless, how our culture has taught us very little respect for promises/commitment, and how that lack of respect for truth/commitment has lead to addictions of all kinds (drugs, sex, food, computer, and the list goes on). The real problem, as this book points out, is the erosion of our spiritual commitment, though it is through no lack of caring and willingness on the part of our God. I really enjoyed the challenge this book posed, and I plan to listen to it more than once as it is too much to digest in one reading.

I rate this book high for content and message. It is also written very plainly and almost anyone can gain something useful from it. Probably a very hot topic for some people to confront because we as a society seem to have forgotten what it means to value our words.

If you are a collector of German militaria, or a historian/film maker/ etc. requiring research material on German medals & orders then this is one of the definitive books available.

Heinrich Doehle was involved with the Reich Minister's office in producing many of the medals & orders he outlines in this book, which was originally published in 1943. The color plates demonstrate the original medals and orders in unissued condition - there is no guesswork associated with their origin - as with pictures produced in current works.

"Meet Annie" is an adorable book written by a mother with a daughter who just happens to have Down syndrome. The book does a wonderful job of showing the many ways that Annie is just like everyone else and gives the children the opportunity to stop and realize just exactly how much more alike they are than different from Annie. The illustrations in the book a very cute and appealing to the eye.

As a parent with a daughter who has DS, I plan to read a book to her class each year and this one will be a great one to share! Many thanks to Heather J. Scharlau-Hollis for writing this wonderful book!!!

Meet Annie is an adorable book written by Heather J. Scharlau-Hollis, who has a daughter with Down syndrome. Annie has Down syndrome and she describes all the way she is "just like you." This is an easy read book for kids and gets the message across that, "We need to understand that we are all different and those differences make us who we are."

Each page shows Annie doing or feeling something, and then has a question for the reader - I like how that engages the reader to think about things too. For instance one page says, "I love to play with my toys just like you. I like my balls and baby dolls best. What is your favorite toy?"

My 5-yr old daughter really likes this book - I've lost track of how many times she's asked us to read it!

BTW, it holds up well when you are in your 60's too!

ARE YOU READY? This is an epic challenge and a masterpiece which shines even now, after all these years.
I WAS a more fanatic comic reader in my early days. In my mid-thirties though, this is a comic that still appeals to me. Beautiful kind of 70's artwork. But it might be too far off for "ordinary" cartoon fans. If I might say; This is th Stanley Kubrick of comics and beyond.
For Moebius (A.K.A Jean Giraud) this is his major work in my opinion. However, it is not mainstream, and I belive it requires a dedication, an openness from the reader.

Anyone who is launching a new venture should bypass the "How To Write A Business Plan" books and pick up a copy.

Gompers and Lerner have written the best book on venture capital thus far. The authors have done a great service to entrepreneurs, VCs, and the entire business community with this work.

It is written, organized, and executed at perfect pitch and should be read by anyone considering taking the plunge into entrepreneurship, pursuing a career as a VC, or simply wanting to know more about the complexities and true nature of venture capital.

As venture capital gradually becomes more plentiful in the next 24 months, reviewing this work should be required of serious-minded professionals.

Delightful True Story

Review Date: 2007-11-27
Monster Run is a delightful little treasure. Most children are afraid of the dark at one time or another, and Monster Run is about a little girl whose night was full of monsters. The minute the lights are out there are wigglies and squirmies and scaries coming out of the closet and out from under the bed, and Nicole is frightened. (The illustrations are colorful, and not at all scary.) Nicole's beloved grandpa saves her from her fears by banishing the monsters forever, but you have to read the book to find out his magic formula.

I began reading Monster Run to my youngest granddaugther when she was three, and two years later it's still her favorite book. She always asks for "The Monster Book".

If your child or grandchild or even just a child you know, is afraid of the dark get this book. Donate a copy to the library or child care center.
Some little one will be grateful.

Chase away the Monsters Forever

"Plan your own monster run. Check every corner and dark place, make lots of noise, and then really chase them out of the child's room, down the hall and out the door. Don't forget to slam it closed." ~MyLinda Butterworth

Nicole is frightened of the dark and has a great imagination. She is terribly afraid of all the monsters crawling out from under her bed. Her mother buys a nightlight, but after the lights are turned out, Nicole notices that some of the clothes on the floor look scary. Are they clothes or monsters?

MyLinda Butterworth is a professional storyteller and loves to visit schools, libraries, festivals and bookstores. She is also the author of "Frogazoom." I love her writing style and here is an example:

"Carefully she peeked out from under her covers to see if they had gone, but there were even more of them. They were opening doors and slinking out from under her bed. Even her toys were dancing."

One night Nicole's grandma and grandfather arrive for a visit. Nicole goes to bed but later cries about monsters being in her bedroom. Her grandfather tells her they can get rid of the monsters and then proceeds to yell: "Any monsters under the bed, you better get out!" Soon Nicole joins in and helps to chase the monsters out the door. Soon Nicole is happily asleep in a room full of love.

I remember still being afraid of the dark in my 20s, so I can completely understand the fear of the dark especially after watching a scary movie. Now I see night as even more beautiful than the day and actually enjoy walking around my house with the lights off because it is so peaceful as the moonlight filters through the windows.

Most children do experience a fear of the dark or a fear of monsters in a closet. Let us not even talk about monsters under the bed or why I now have a bed that is flat on the floor. For my entire life, since I can remember I used to walk near a bed and imagine someone reaching out and grabbing my ankle. This must have resulted from some childhood incident and may have involved my naughty younger brother.

Matthew Mercer's art fills the pages with beautiful creative interpretations of monsters and little Nicole. The picture of her in the room filled with monsters is not overly frightening and may even make children giggle. He worked at Disney as a caricature artist and almost made me feel sorry for the poor little monsters that had to leave the house.

A Delightful and Comforting story that will help children fall asleep faster, especially if you chase the monsters out too.

Nicole is afraid of the dark, but her father knows just how to get rid of night monsters and leave her feeling safe and loved. In The Monster Run, author MyLinda Butterworth draws upon her experience as the mother of two children to write a superbly crafted children's book about being scared of the dark in the middle of the night. This engaging and reassuring story for young readers is perfectly illustrated by Matthew Mercer. The Monster Run is a welcome addition to family and community library collections for children -- especially children needing a little help at coping with night time anxieties.

Poor Mr. Slow just wants to take things... well, slow. But alas a rather busy and obtrusive Mr. Busy is determined to speed up his slow ways. After getting cleaned up, eating breakfast, and cutting the grass (all by 7am!) he decides to go on a picnic. So he goes into Mr. Slow's house, up to his room and wakes him up to go on his picnic. They end up eating in Mr. Slow's front lawn as well... Mr. Slow was too slow to get to the picnic grounds. Then Mr. Busy informs his slow neighbor that tomorrow they will get up a 6am!!!
At 6am Mr. Busy rushes into Mr. Slow's bedroom to find... nobody. Nobody at all. So off Mr. Busy goes leaving a happy snoring Mr. Slow asleep under the bed!!!
