Have you ever had a doctor tell you that? Well, I have and I know others who have as well. Maybe wording was different, but content the same. I resented such doctors.

Through reading Dr. Moore's book however, I have discovered that those doctors may be closer to the truth than they realize. I have learned how connected the mind and the body are, and that stress and negative energy of our thoughts reflect in the energy of our bodies. The negative energy acts as poison that can weaken the body and cause many health problems that seem mysterious and untreatable to modern medicine.

Through inspiring stories and beautiful guided imagery, this book teaches how to recognize and release destructive, painful, negative emotions and thoughts and bring in peace and joy, ultimately leading to healing the mind and body both.

I was sceptical about reading this book because I didn't want to let go of the western medicine side of healing. I realized that I didn't have to let it go completely, just add to it with deeper, more emotional healing. By listening to the CD's, I was able to find some of the beliefs and emotions I had about myself that, I believe, were the root cause of my illness. It was so enjoyable to read the stories that I could not put it down and would recommend this book to anyone who thinks they are not quite as healthy as they could be or who don't know why they keep getting sick.

I found this incredible book at a Goodwill-type store and I believe God put it in my hands at a time when I needed it and was ready to learn from it. The book alone is powerful in helping us to rely on our body's innate wisdom to heal, but for me the most mind-awakening moments came from listening to the meditation CDs that come with the book. The first one was for me the most powerful; in that for the first time in 41 years I discovered "Who" I really am. This is incredibly powerful. And the healing meditations to help our bodies/minds heal are just as insightful. I recommend this book to all my friends who are recovering from anything (from menopause to cancer) in their lives, and to everyone who deeply wants to know who they are when everything else is stripped away. The answer will surprise you and bring tears to your eyes. May you see the divinity within for yourself.

a beautiful and intelligently written book that is actually printed on hemp paper ("This endpaper is 50-percent hemp/50-percent cotton paper") and with hemp-oil-based inks!!!

When you pick the book up, it actually feels more durable than many other books; and the cover is printed on recycled stock.

So the book really embodies the message, and the message is resounding: there are innovative and sound methods of growing this economy while working to protect the planet. There are wonderful black and white illustrations throughout.

The chapters are well-organized and highly informative.

I could have done without the cheesy "hemp model shot" on the back of the book, but it's not enough to avoid giving this marvelous book a five star rating!

With this book, Roulac has given us THE complete and definitive book of hemp's past, present to future. It traces hem's historical roots, details the hundreds of uses of hemp, explains the historical legal underpinnings of hemp's brush in with the law, examines the global hemp industry, and shows hemp in the modern marketplace. In effect, this book provides readers with the most factual, historically comprehensive, and even-handed presentation of this controversial crop to date. To give an understanding of how useful and potentially revolutionary this crop is, allow me to quote one of my favorite parts of the book:

"So imagine that one day within the next ten years, you wake up in a house whose walls, roof, flooring, insulation, and paint are derived of hemp. As you drive to your job at the new hemp-fiber processing facility, you pass farmers harvesting some of the locally grown hemp that is revitalizing your community's rural economy."

A beautiful morning indeed, but it would be even more beautiful if you knew how environmentally friendly and healthy your new hempen life actually is. The rubber-like mats in your hemp mobile are all natural and 100 per cent biodegradable; the roots of the hemp plants that line the fields of your county help enrich and solidify much-needed topsoil and therefore increase the yield of other rotational crops. You smile while spreading hempseed hummus on your hemp-wheat toast knowing it is the single most complete source of non-animal protein on the planet - and tastes much better than tofu. The smile increases as you pour hemp oil on your salad, knowing it is high in essential fatty acids that help you think better, boost your immune system, decrease your chances of cancer, and reduce the risk of high blood pressure, platelet coagulation, and hardening of the arteries. Lastly, before heading off to work, you opt for your hemp skateboard instead of the hemp mobile, as it is a brilliant, bright and sunny day.

The fact of the matter is, this beautiful morning has no imaginative end. The only thing keeping us from achieving the dawn of a new tomorrow is our monopoly cotton and paper industries, and a government which seems to be supporting those industries by restricting and limiting hemp production permits and also by unleashing the DEA on would-be hemp producers (despite the fact that it has NEVER been illegal to grow hemp in America). Whatever you want to know about hemp is in this book. A must read.

This book is an eye opener for those who appreciate the potential for every thing old to be new again. It outlines a compelling case for re-examining the value of hemp as an agricultural renewable resource. The book's tone is very "straight" and specifically eschews the mixing advocacy of herb and fiber. Along with a thorough overview history of hemp use, cultivation, and current purposes, the book offers a product directory, strong bibliography, and access to its web site.

This book is an outstanding easy to understand source for learning the history of and the many different uses of hemp.
I'm compelled to become a more vocal advocate of the product!

Nothing less than one of the all-time best psychological thrillers you will ever read. As it stands, in historical fiction of the highest literary caliber, the book is a page-turner. And, if one imagined the 19th century context of this novel - clothed in our modern times, someone out there would surely be writing the screenplay for a blockbuster film. You will absolutely adore this book - forget gender, culture, and background of any reader. If you crave the highest order of classic masterpieces ever penned by anyone - buy this book. And thank goodness, Amazon recognizes the value of these oftentimes forgotten treasures that keep reading itself alive!

Beautifully written and structured with a host of noteworthy minor characters, the novel Hester provides an opportunity to lose yourself in another time and place. The strong women characters, Hester and Catherine Vernon are deftly done. A long but fast read

I purchased this book because of other books that I have read and this one was recommended (thru amazon) as a result of the ones I have read and enjoyed. I normally look through the reviews on amazon to get a feel for the book. However, with this book there were no reviews. I went out on a limb and purchased it anyway.

This is not an exciting book like the 3 Musketeers or Pillars of the Earth. However, if you like classics such as Madame Bovary or any book by Jane Austen, I believe you will like this book.

This is a story of three people. There are other characters, of course, but the story mainly follows three people - Catherine Vernon, Edward Vernon and Hester Vernon. Catherine is the aging owner of the Vernon Bank. It is clear throughout this book that women are not known for knowing business but Catherine is an exception. In the beginning of the book, John Vernon is running the family bank. Catherine wants to become, and is really supposed to become, the wife of John. However, John marries another women and spends a very large sum on her. In fact, his spending allows rumors to spead and there is a "run on the bank". At the time there is run on the bank, John is gone. His wife, Mrs. John, follows him abroad and only returns to Redborough after John dies, with her daugher Hester, on the invitation of Catherine. They return some 30 years later.

By this time, Catherine has been running the bank and has become very rich. She has surrounded herself with her relations and has retired. Her cousin, Edward, is now running the bank with his cousin, Henry. Henry does not care for business and leaves all the work to Edward. Edward lives with Catherine and she treats him like the son she never had. Catherine ownes the Vernonry where her relations live.

When Hester comes to live at the Vernonry, she is but 14 years old and has her first conflict with Catherine on the night she arrives with her mother. From that point, Hester and Catherine are at odds. However, Hester is free spirited and strong. Edward comes to want that kind of life. He wants to get out from under Catherine's shadow and be free to live his life. As a result, he puts the people's money in the stock exchange and places the bank in ruins. Catherine comes to the rescure for the second time and saves the bank.

Catherine believes that she can see through all of her relations but because of her love for Edward she is blind to the fact that he has changed. This ultimately leads her to the grave. She also hated Hester and because of that she did not see the strength in her that reveals itself in the end.

The end of the book is very good. It is a good story and if you enjoy the classics then this one is a good, quick read. I am glad that I did not let the fact that there were no reviews on this book stop me from buying it and reading it. This is certainly not one of the best classics that I have read but it is good.

Ms. Oliphant has a way of writing that is beautiful. The book is beautifully written with good characters and with good character development.

This is the story of Catherine and Hester Vernon, and the relationship between the two women and the one man whom both of them loved; Catherine as a son and Hester as a woman. Catherine once saved the family bank from ruin at the hands of Hester's reckless father when he fled the country in disgrace, and Hester and her mother return years later as paupers living at the charity of cousin Catherine, as do several other assorted Vernon relatives. Hester makes a poor impression on Catherine on her first day there and for years the two women barely tolerate each other. Catherine rules the "Vernonry" as it's called where those relatives live in relative comfort and she amuses herself watching their minor quirks and foibles as they gossip and interact with each other. As Hester matures, she catches the eye of two of her cousins, Harry and Edward Vernon, Edward being the apple of Catherine's eye and loved as she would her own son. Edward chafes under Catherine's thumb and plots to free himself forever, but he must find a way to obtain funds to do so, which could lead to the downfall of all the Vernons and the bank.

Sound boring? Actually it's not; it's a fascinating tale of two women and their intertwining relationships between themselves and others. I loved the secondary characters, especially the two Misses Vernons, such delightfully catty old maids! Oliphant does a fine job of setting her scenes and giving you a wonderful in depth look at a slice of Victorian England.

Just be warned, this is not an action packed, sit on the edge of your seat, can't put it down until its finished type of novel. This is a story to savor and enjoy the multi-faceted characters like a fine red wine or a box of chocolates (or both!!). If you are looking for high action and adventure, this is not the book for you. Oliphant is superb and although she doesn't quite come up the ten star standards of George Eliot, this is one author well worth taking the time to check out. If you are a first time reader to this author your best bet is to try her delightful Miss Marjoribanks (Penguin Classics) first, a very funny and lighthearted romp and a refreshing change from the strum and drang of most 19C British literature. Five stars.

"Hickok's Gold" is a fine second installment in the Kaye family vacation series. Like the first book, "Bowleg's Bounty," there are really two stories unfolding for the reader. Young readers will enjoy making connections between the story being told by Mr. Kaye each night around the campfire and the events that transpire during the family's vacation. Any family that has gone on camping vacations will enjoy this book. Mr. Kropp's accounts of the highs and lows of family camping ring true. The book should work as a read aloud at bedtime book, as well as a book for young readers to read on their own.

When Benjamin and Martin arrived in the Black Hills with their parents, Mr. Kaye was ready with campfire stories of Cowboys, Indians, and the Gold Fields that sparked danger and a host of legendary characters. A fascinating and engaging story of adventure that blurs the distinction between fantasy and reality, there are ancient riddles to be solved and a quest for wild Bill Hickok's lost gold mine to be made. Author Joseph Kropp is a superb storyteller and "Hickock's Gold" is a deftly crafted novel that will hold the reader's full attention from first page to last. Also very highly recommended is Kropp's previous novel, "Bowleg's Bounty".

I recently read Joseph Kropp's Hickok's Gold and was enthralled by the story. I can recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good yarn about the old west, or the new west. It's really two books in one, one story about intrigue in the old west, and the other about vacationing brothers who share an adventure unravelling an old west mystery. Dr. Kropp does a superb balancing act with the two tales, keeping the reader guessing and always wanting more. I never wanted to put the book down.
I read Dr. Kropp's Bowleg's Bounty, primarily a pirate story (very exciting), and he has elevated his game with his second effort. His writing has matured, and Hickok's Gold will be a satisfying read not only for those interested in stories of the old west, but for those who appreciate good storytelling in any genre. Buy it, enjoy it, and spread the word: There's a new writer in town, and he's a good 'un.

Joseph Kropp is an excellent storyteller, and as he weaves two stories together, a family on vacation experiences the excitement of the Wild West. Throughout the vacation in the Black Hills, the story of Wild Bill Hickock and his gold mine introduces children to real characters who live in a world of intrigue. The creative introduction in a dream leads to real-life adventure as Benjamin and Martin learn to ride horses, sleep out under the stars and meet bear cubs.

"Dawn and the faint beginnings of the new day found Destiny and Buck at the western edge of the Badlands - a mystical, wind-swept, collection of hills and valleys, ringed with the intense, soft colors of the earth. A morning mist hung like a feather bed over the barren landscape, welcoming Destiny home." ~ pg. 139

Destiny is a girl who is separated from her family during a battle and is a member of the Sioux nation. She is part of the story in the past told by the father and we also learn about Chief Sitting Bull and General Custer. Joseph Kropp excels at describing the landscape and creates an adventure infused with reality and imagination.

The author immediately cautions that 70% of the businesses using the Internet today lose money. This book is clearly written and is in the practical, nuts and bolts, hand-on style of writing. He stresses "do a little homework first." An incredible amount of useful and free information is available if you use the search engines and directories listed in the book. He gives one to five star ratings for items in this listing and in other listings. The author gives the current cost figures for the equipment and software required. The range is enormous, from free software to over $100,000.

Know what you need before you leap. In his chapter, "Email: Quickest Bang for Your Buck," he enumerates the cost savings and the communication benefits that the use of email can give your business. At the same time, he notes pitfalls. Email use can overwhelm. Suggestions for controlling this are given. He warns email can be read by others (including competition), altered, and faked (known as spoofing). Encryption and adding digital signatures can be used to secure your email.

Establishing a Web site has been a boom to certain industries, but a flop for others. Lists of both are given. Costs for setting up a Web site can vary greatly. Yet again, do your homework first. Be especially aware that some services that are offered are just plain con operations. He gives a 12 step sequence for building your Web site.

The author stresses the importance of effective writing in order that your Web site succeeds. He notes, for example, Kentucky Fried Chicken sells "finger-lickin' good" and not "dead chicken parts." Also stressed is that the top of a Web page is crucial. This is called "above the fold" and is an expression derived from the newspaper field. There are many seeming small things that can trip up a newcomer to the Internet. For example, writing something in all capital letters is considered shouting. How to Grow Your Business on the Internet is perhaps the ONLY practical BUSINESS book for the general business manager. It takes a critical look at the business rationale behind using e-mail , newsgroups, web sites, online catalogs. Vince Emery does an excellent job of providing the small business owner or general business manager sound business reasons for using the Internet (in its many different forms), rather than using the old excuse "I have to be on the net - whatever that means - because everyone else is on the net." In addition, there is an Excellent chapter on publicizing your web site. It includes such techniques - which may be familiar to the more experienced, but would be very relevant to the novice - net lurking on newsgroups, e-mail lists/newsletters, extensive use of meta tags, properly coding alt tags, using page titles effectively. I firmly believe that before any business spends a single dollar on e-mail or a web-site, that the manager in charge should read this book. One thing is clear, this book has saved me from making mistakes... mistakes that would have easily cost more than the $20-30 bucks for the book

     It is certainly no joke that business on the Internet is booming! One needs only to surf the Internet to find companies, large and small, offering their products and services to the Internet community. Why not you? There are many fine books available on the market that will assist readers to "open up shop" and conduct business on the Internet. I Know. I've got many of them in my own library. This way there are many fine books available on the market that will assist readers to open up own on-line shop and conduct your home business on the Internet.

Privies edition of the "How to Grow Your Business on the Internet" was one of very the first books about online entrepreneurship I've read. Ant it was really great! But this 3rd edition is much better. It explains the ins and outs of the online business world in plain English -- especially good for beginners.

This is not a computer book, though: if you want to learn about PC's operating systems you'll need additional literature. This excellent book by Vince Emery supplies you with tips on how to market, publicize, and advertise your business online as well as how to generate strategic information using the Internet. A particularly useful chapter uses examples from actual businesses to explain why Internet projects fail and how to make sure yours doesn't.

This is a great place to start! If considering an Internet/Home based business, this is a must read. This is a book for people who take their first steps in the world of Internet entrepreneurship. And I have to say the book does get you thinking and acting. Highly recommend.

Like any large Government organization, the military has it's own ways of doing things. And to complicate matters, the way you may find a person in the Navy is not always the same, for example, for the Army or Air Force.

I bought the first edition of this book for a friend of mine a few years back and she used the advice in it to win a seat on the city council. I bought this second edition and gave it to her and she said she found a lot of advice for incumbent officeholders in the book.

I thought I knew exactly how to put a campaign together for local public office...until I read this book. After reading it, I realized how much I was missing when it came to campaign strategy and techniques. I'm glad I bought the book before I got my campaign underway. I've already made some changes for my campaign after reading the book that will save me a lot of work and money.

I bought this author's first book on the subject and won a seat on the school board. Now I have purchased this new second edition and will use it for a run for a council seat in 2009. The first edition was great, but this second edition has so much more information in it.

I bought this book because I want to run for a township trustee's position. I found the advice so dead on and so informative, I had to actually change my campaign plan. After reading this book, I realized that I would have made some big mistakes in my campaign. I would have wasted a lot of money amd a lot of hours of hard work and it would have decreased my odds of winning. Now, with this campaign bible in my hands, I will avoid those mistakes and I know that I will have a much better shot at winning my election. And, if I win, there is a lot of advice to elected officials that will keep me from making some of the mistakes that many newly elected officials usually make. If you are going to run, do not do it without reading this book first!
