That's what I did when I sold my business. The most interesting result? Using Horn's guidelines, the various ways to value my business all resulted in almost the same asking price! This is the book I recommend to my resale-retail readers on my consignment/resale/ thrift industry website, www.tgtbt.com , and I recommend it to you as well. A good back-up to Horn's newer version.

This is apparently an old out-of-print version of Horn's newer book, "Unlocking the Value of Your Business", which I found to be among the best on this subject. Our "Big 5" accounting firm even uses it.

John Ward provides an excellent overview about the power of values in a family business - how the right values can help the business for generations to come, but also how the wrong ones can hamper success. He also provides a good description about how a family's personal value systems affect the business unit and vice versa. A must read for anyone interested in building a lasting legacy!!!

I highly recommend all of John Ward's books about family businesses.

Looking for Papa is a very enjoyable read!!! It's entertaining as well as educational. The book flowed nicely and is a quick read! Perfect for a getaway!!!! I highly recommend this book and hope to see more to come!!! WELL DONE!!!!!!

This book was a breath of fresh air. I couldn't put it down. It was very educational as well as entertaining. I love Christian fiction and the fact that it was based on true historical facts was a plus too. Great book!

This is a perfect story to read aloud with the whole family. A great lesson in tolerance and community. We will be reading this book again and again.

A New Year's Family demonstrates to children (and is a reminder to adults) that the appearance on the outside is not nearly as important as the character on the inside.

This is a wonderful story about a young boy and his mother, and all the animals and birds around their lake who work together to find Sarah Duck a husband. The unusual male duck they find is not the most beautiful prospective mate in the bayou, but Sarah and the others soon discover what a tender and loving heart beats inside his feathered chest!

Our organization -- all the 12 top guys -- got copies and spent a couple days a month for 5 months going through all the steps in this book. Wow -- we now all agree on what we're good at, how to consistently increase cash flow, and -- most importantly -- what to NOT spend time on. Most of our time is now spent cheerleading and stressing our beliefs, letting the guys and gals on the line make decisions which agree with these.

Definitely not just for the public, professional manager. This stuff really works for the small company too!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Heather has an innate ability to make a person comfortable with their weaknesses and failings and hopeful at the same time. Her sense of humor coupled with down-to-earth, do-able wisdom makes this book totally readable and extremely beneficial to one seeking guidance on the path to healing and higher living. I appreciate her candid looks into her own life and the insight she shares so freely--truly I came away from the book feeling empowered and very positive about issues that formerly discouraged me. Highly recommended!

When you finally get to later it truelly is too late. Just think about it; can you actually get to second base before you hit the ball (baseball), no cheating.

God is imediate and so is His Word, and His name is the name of authority, so when you pray or speak, "in Jesus' name," you are saying, "...now because I have the authority..."

It is true too many people wait and not ask the "God of the now" for their blessings now. The author does a good job in getting this point across. Great examples easy to read and understand text.

Matt Davis has done a wonderful job. So many children's books are the same and follow the same formula. Matt's book does not do that. It is fun and children really become involved with the story. It's too bad the berries don't exist. The bread sounds delicious! You will find your mouth watering and wondering what is going to happen in the end.

Change is one of the hardest things for us to accept---even if we know change is the road to growth. "Beginning Again" takes the inevitable changes that occur in our lives, and helps us reflect on how these sometimes difficult changes can transform us. The author's use of original poetry and the art of story-telling, stirs something very deep within. We find we can look at these passages from a uniquely personal perspective and, not only heal, but find joy in life's inevitable changes.

This is one of few books that I read cover to cover, and going to read it again in the next few months to remind myself and my business that there is more than just making money in life - its about making the world a better place to live for.

Although it doesn't contain any recipe for ice-creams (wasn't looking for one), it does contain the recipe for a successful business model built on a socially responsible organization that grew into a giant franchise all over the world - from a gas station and a mere 4 grands. GREAT role model for those going into business as well as those already in business.

Great resource annex at the back, from suppliers to other valued-led business. I live in Singapore, but if I have the chance, I will want to visit Vermont when my business takes off.

Since this book was a pre-Unilever take-over publication, it did not mention about the business model changes after that.

The world is getting messy - war, poverty, madness, scandals and terror, this book injects humanity into us, it gives me comfort when I go to sleep at night knowing that there are still hope and greatness in most of us. I give it 5 stars.
