Enhancement

I found this book to be very useful for my work. For quite sometime, I had been planning on getting a book on SQL 2000 since we are planning to switch to SS2K from SQL 7.0 and was interested in the new features and enhancements that are available in SS2K. This book covers all of the issues in detail.

The chapters on Advanced DBA topics are very good and the chapter on performancce debugging is especially very helpful. An excellent resource for anyone who works with SQL Server.

I have been an avid reader of Mr.Sharma's article at swynk.com and sqlservercentral.com and like the way he presents the information. No munching of words, just pure technical information. He has done the same in this book. The chapters on performance issues, profiler, indexed views, collations and the section on Advanced DBA topics is very good.

Even though the chapter on the XML Support in SS2k is good it only talks about openxml and the other native support provided in SQL Server, he should also have covered SQLXML as well which is one thing that is missing from the book. With the release of SQLXML 3.0, the XML functionality of SQL Server is very much enhanced.

It is a very good book though, written with careful thought, illustrated with a lot of examples, no page fillers unlike most of the technical books out there. A definite buy.

Excellent coverage of enhancements. The step-by-step approach is very handy and provides a quick reference. A must have on the self of any SQL Server DBA. Highly recommended. Comparison to Oracle is also good. Am already using the scripts and utilities from the book.

If you had the opportunity to purchase only one book on stock investing, this is the one to have. I know of no other book that covers all the bases as well as Stock Market Strategem and I've purchased and read hundreds. All but 9 live in boxes in the basement. If you're new to investing or even if you've had some experience and success in the market you can improve your performance and returns. I sincerely believe that this book is destined to be a classic.

Whilst browsing the net in January 2003 I chanced upon some of Gladen Bretts concepts on investing in stocks in the US stockmarket. I emailed him seeking some elaboration and clarification. He was generous in his assistance and also advised that I obtain a copy of his latest book - Stockmarket Stratagem.Thank goodness I did so.I had read numerous books and articles on stock selection and management by US, Australian, NewZealand and British authors and "gurus" up to that point but found it difficult to distill a well reasoned, simple, pratical stratagem from their writings although ironically the authors impressed the importance of having such an approach to investing.Braden Gletts stratagem has these features. I began to apply it in the context of the Australian Stockmarket in April 2003 and to date my portfolio has exceeded my most optimistic expectations. As gratifying as this is the most valuable features of Mr. Gletts strategem are its simplicity and risk management principles which give the small private investor the wherewithal and the confidence to go it alone. By far the best stock investing book I have read - a real blueprint for investing.

I wish there was a 6 star review - this book deserves it. I came across an on-line article written by Mr. Glett some time ago. I was so thrilled by what he had written I just had to send him a complimentary email. I was delightfully surprised when he answered. That comunication lead me to discovering his book, Stock Market Stratagem. And wow, what a wonderful book it is. As a middle-aged person just finally getting around to begin investing (hey, better late than never), I had bought and read a plethora of financial investing books before I found this one. And it quickly became my favorite, my most trusted source of investment information. It's simply superb. Mr. Glett writes in a most engaging style, it almost feels as though he's talking to you, one on one. His insight and take on what many of us were raised to believe as gospel is a refreshing change from those pot-boiler books flooding the market. I would rate Stock Market Stratagem way up there on the list of books you just have to own as you travel through life. It is packed full of wonderful advise and wisdom - you will not be sorry investing in this book (no pun intended). I highly recommend it.

This is a really beautiful book to read. It is a must for all pitchers and their coaches. But it is more than that because it is also about life in general though especially relevant to anyone who loves baseball. It is about being philosophical about our failures and being courageous enough to go out to win in the face of them. In that sense anyone who reads this book will feel a little wiser about life both on and perhaps also off-field regardless of whether they are a baseball player or not.

Noooooo !! Don't let the book aside because it seems to be a usual or boring ABC dictionnary. Take your time to look at the content. The paragraphs are linked together with a lot of callbacks. It really forms a great GLOBAL mental APPROACH to the act of pitching and not only a sum of psychological analyses. This book is mainly descriptive, based on experience and examples and that can repulse some people. However if you have the commitment to go further reading, you will profit from the KEY POINTS and PRACTICAL ADVISES given at the end of each paragraph. Put these tips into your practice program progressively, learn them, try them, adapt them, get feedback down the line and adjust. If not used, this reference will be wasted and will only remain a good book that you have read on the sofa. It is said "Every player and coach will HAVE one". Even if it is highly interesting only reading it, I hope that every player and coach will USE it to complement its program in the bullpen. It will be hard to write a better book on the subject before a long time.

This book gives exactly what is needed to pitchers who have not explored their craft to the fullest. This book gives you, the pitcher, the opportunity to not only get better, but to become a professional at the game you love.

Candle therapy is a wonderful books with lots of good ideas and suggestions on how candles can help your life and environment. I wish I lived in New York so that I could visit the author's store, Other Worldly Waxes, and really stock up on beautiful candles. This book will make an excellent present for almost anyone I can think of.

Jack and Sue Drafahl's book was instrumental in getting me through my initial intimidation with digital imaging. While the text is geared toward the underwater photographer, most of the topics included here would be valuable to ANY photographer beginning to manipulate their images through digital enhancement.
The information presented in this book will take you through the complete process, from scanning to various post production techniques. Along the way, you'll learn the key features of Adobe Photoshop, and how to best apply this powerful tool toward enhancing your images.
This has quickly become my favorite photography book, and without a doubt, the book I have learned the most from.

There is everything you ever wanted to know about how to work with you underwater pictures digitally in this book. The Drafahls have done an excellent job puting this information into a format that's easy to follow; it's step-by-step. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in digital editing of their photographs.

Beta glucan is the power behind the well-known curative value of oats and yeast. This is an easy to read, succint little book that gives you an overview of thismost valuable of all health preserving, anti-aging supplements. My only criticism is that she does not reveal that it takes at least 100 mg a day of beta glucan to really boost your immune system and that most products simply do not have this amount in them. A must read for anyone interested in a healthy long life.

E.R. Porter, in Life Enhancement 1, has provided an entirely practical thesis for living positively amidst the chaos of these times. The author introduces us to her personal spiritual advisors, AKA, the Chrysanthumum Kids. Dialog with the "the Kids" allows the author to examine the nature of personal reality.

The author shares many positive strategies for dealing with difficult situations and/or difficult people. Examples of how one can explore, expand and adjust ones personal reality and spirituality are abundant. The book traces the author's effort to increase personal sensitivity and consciousness through group discussions, meditation and the exploration of past life memories. The primary thesis, "we create our own reality" challenges the reader to explore the way in which expectations can effect outcomes. The book reads easily and has many "testable" opportunities for altering one's own reality.

...there are points that need to be cleared up: The book is based on manipulating protein's (claimed) slight effect on insulin and carbs'(claimed) severe effect, but John McDougal, a respected nutrition writer, claims that beef stimulates more insulin than whole-grain pasta. Unfortunately, if you're not willing to do your own research, the pop-science books will have you bouncing back and forth for the next hundred trends..

I have been following this program for a month and feel great. As a avid SuperSlow weight lifter this book has really helped me to keep the muscle and loose the fat! I have been truly concerned about restricted calorie diets and what they can do to all the muscle I have spent my hard earned money on. I have lost weight on restricted calorie diets only to gain it back. What I love about this lifestyle change is I can eat what I want to, only at the correct times, but I am not limited like so many other programs. I love Rob's controversial views and with all the research backup his views make sense. The workout section is great too. This book is really revolutionary and I recommend you read it and use it, it really is easy once you get through the information. The only critisism I have is it is tough to put all the pieces together for the average joe, a guideline or recap chapter would be nice. I made a few mistakes at first but kept reading the key chapters until I got it. Rob's website is very helpful if you have questions. This program is worth every penny you spend on the book and every minute you spend reading. The best thing about this book? He is not trying to sell you some supplement or [something] you don't need. Plain and simple this book is meaty with information. Another benefit, My skin has become so beautiful and my shape is changing. I am 39 and the other day I got a huge compliment, this person told me I looked 25 years old! Thanks Rob you really got it.
