Elephants Books

I love this series of books. This one is great to give a host or hostess as a thank you for their hospitality. It is a beautiful and simplistic book.

I haven't colored in a coloring book in years, that is, until this book. Gef Rice's monsters, and his way of looking at fear, is fun. The drawing on the front is wacky and silly. Hoping for more books in the future...

This book is startling. The disciptions of human elephant interaction lead us to a deep and profound understanding of these magestic creatures. The art work shows both a stunning sense of design and, in my estimation, a certain grasp of artistic metaphor. Critques by artist etc. further validate this view. The culmination is a reevaluation not only of art but of personhood in general.

What a wonderful story for children. Vibrant pictures and engaging animals, draw you into Tonga and her friends journey to see African animals. I encourage anyone with children to add this colorful book to the night time reading routine!

A serenely simple guide to the world of wanderlust. Poltarnees sets forth the pleasures and spiritual nature of travel in 40 pages of short observations and beautiful illustrations. A brief introduction to the joys of exploring new places...or perceptions. Written so simplistically, the book provides an almost child-like wisdom for travel in new lands...or through life. It may not be a "travel book," or a book to carry in your suitcase ("Travel lightly--carrying neither weighty luggage nor burdensome preconceptions."). Indeed, it's a great gift to read at any point in one's journey through life. And would make a great gift for the travelers and seekers in your life. Happy trails!

I used this book in a unit teaching on fractured fairy tales. I had my students follow the story of the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs. They loved the trial as depicted in this story. It certainly helped free up their minds to write their own alternative ending to the trial. I highly recommend this book for any teacher trying to teach a creative writing lesson

So, what can a turtle do when an arrogant, self-absorbed elephant steps on him "for the three hundred and thirty-second time?" The answer is: a lot. Our hard-shelled hero uses his head to show that brain power outshines brawn. This is a fun and beautifully illustrated fable that can teach all of us something about compassion and being sure to think about the needs of others.

this review may not be helpful to those of you trying to figure out if you want to buy the book. I just love this man though. I have worked with him twice and he is a fabulous playwright and person.

My husband and I happened up on this book in a little German shop near Cincinnati and I just fell in love with it. Our daughter is in college, but I bought this book for myself and for small visitors to our home. The illustrations are a combination of works from old children's books and postcards, all different styles, and the effect is simply charming. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

This was my favorite childhood book. It is intended for beginning readers. A touching story of friendship and honesty, it's a must-read for all kids. Ah Mee and his little elephant, Tubby, are fishing for Foodle-fish. But their boat isn't big enough for a boy and his elephant, so Tubby goes in search of one that is. When he finds and steals the great Poo-Bah's boat, Ah Mee is locked in a tower. Tubby can't speak, so he needs to somehow show the Poo-Bah that Ah Mee is innocent. What is a little elephant to do?
