For me, I found "Origami 11" to be truly enjoyable in the series of sixteen books. The models are more advanced and include;
rabbits, bird shaped boxes, flowers and leafs, pop-up greeting cards, an elphant, and a shrimp. The pop-up cards in this
book are fun for children and adults alike.

This is such a fun book to read. It is about Packy, an elephant from the zoo. Packy breaks out of her cage twice, and once
falls into the ditch and has to be rescued. It is especially fun if you buy it along with the cassette or CD. They are sold
at Adventist Book Centers new. I'm sure they are sold other places as well.

I am 18 years old now, but I read this book when I was in the 1st grade. I remember the first time I read it like it was yesterday.
It was funny, and very cute. This book is one of the few that I remember reading at that age. It really made an impression
on me.

This is a delightful book. My 4 grandchildren are absolutely
charmed by it and are continually asking to have it read to them. The illustrations are so darling and the colors just appeal so much to the young ones. The poem is very unique and humorous and it has a very cute ending.

The Get Ready, Get Set, Read! series is the best for beginners. It uses word families so beginners can build an extensive
vocabulary quickly. The characters are cleaver animals and the plot is interesting while maintaining a level young readers
can relate to. The word list is helpful for sight words. The "Bring-It-All-Together" books are a perfect review it is fun
for the reader to revisit the same characters from the other books in a new situation. My five year old has now completed
all five sets, and is one of the best readers in her Kindergarten. She looks forward to reading the books over and over.
She loves to impress her friends by reading to them.

Poomulli and the Temple Elephant
Yet another good offering from the author of the ECOLOGICAL TALES from INDIA series. The story is about a boy called Poomulli who loves elephants. The boy meets Gajarani, the new pachyderm hired by the local temple, and the two form a bonding soon. Poomulli takes the elephant for extended baths and then serves sumptuous meals.
However just before the temple procession is due, Gajarani ends up in suffering. The chains used to tie her have injured her legs, and have thus left her incapable of leading the religious procession. Poomulli gets down to work at once. He refers to the book on elephant care (a Sanskrit originial) and ends up treating his friend.
The book is a very good read for its simplicity. It is not cluttered with difficult words. It is also not hyped. It states the facts as simply as they should be. Another forte of the book is its simple illustrations. They smell Kerala and India. Anybody who has travelled to this
beautiful land can instantly recognise that the illustrator has done a remarkable job. The backgrounds of temples, houses and greenery are absolutely apt. The characters blend well with the background and bring the story alive.
A good book to own.

You Can't Take The Brave New World with You

In the family play "Rain, Some Fish, No Elephants", Y. York humorously creates a frightening world where all of the worst
nightmares of the politically correct agenda (sexism, racial genocide, environmental devestation) are played out to ridiculous
extremes. There is a not too distant into the future sensibility in this play that makes it easy for one sceptical of science
fiction realities to make the leap and buy into York's satyrical world. But the real clichers are the delightful characters
whose familiar strengths and foibles cast a critique on our own world, reminding one of the responsibilty we have in forging
the institutions and ground rules we all must play by. It is refreshing to find such fine roles written for young women, from
the most admirable scientifically minded protagonist to the most spoiled and despicable villainess. "Rain Some Fish..." succeeds
(reins) where theatrical literature is most vital, in building a social experiment that reels (fishes) one in with entertainment
and an invitation to open doors to ones own mind (elephant).
