Little elephant has learned how to do many things: walk backwards, hop on three legs, spin around like a falling leaf, and do wonderful tricks with his trunks like catching a banana, holding onto his mother's tail, and spraying everyone with water! But there's one thing he hasn't yet mastered -- he cannot trumpet. Little Elephant's Song is Wolfram Hanel's delightful story about a fun-loving little elephant who learns a lot, but at his own pace! Wolfram's delightful, entertaining, and highly recommended picturebook story is outstandingly illustrated by the superb artistry of Cristina Kadmon.

This is a cute book that takes your child through Little Elephant's morning from the time he wakes up until he finds out what his surprise is. Your toddler will enjoy listening to the nice flow of the story while your preschooler has fun picking out the words that rhyme. The pictures are bright and fun to look at and this book enjoyable to read. Little Elephant's Surprise is a favorite in my house (a look at all of the taped pages will prove it!).

A Beautifully Illustrated and Informative Book

We love this book. Our 5 year old and 2 year old request reading this book almost every night.
It is well illustrated and very informative. The Little Elephant learns about his surroundings by watching, and immitating, the adult elephants as they go through their day. Little Elephant learns to walk, keep cool, swim, keep safe, eat, and even how to show love and affection.
The center of focus is his trunk and it's usefullness. The Little Elephant learns that the trunk that trips him up, is also the trunk that communicates love with his mother.
This is a great book. I highly recommend it.

INIMITABLE ARTISTIC FLAIR

Gustaf Tenggren's inimitable flair brings three popular tales to colorful life. His bold strokes and brilliant hues illuminate "The Shy Little Kitten," "The Lion's Paw," and "The Saggy Baggy Elephant."

Seldom has a giraffe capered more joyously, a lion roared more ferociously, or kittens tumbled in such cuddly balls of fur.

Few can match this artist's ability to enchant with a brush stroke. His full color illustrations make this an eye-capturing book sure to be turned to again and again.

Long Neck is a story about friendship and accepting people that are different from us. The author, Michael Willert did a wonderful job of using animals to show how each person is different in the world, but we all can learn and be friends with each other.

In the story, three zebras love to play and eat in a wide open field. They run, jump, and let the tall grass tickle their bellies. Then one day a young giraffe comes along and wants to play with the zebras. Instead of letting the giraffe play, the zebras make fun of his long neck. The young giraffe's feelings are hurt and he leaves. The zebras don't notice that each day the young giraffe watches them play from afar, wishing he could be their friend.

Finally the warm summer weather turned cold. The zebras find there isn't much grass for eating and that the big cats of the open are looking for food. When things start to look really bad for the zebras, the young giraffe comes to the rescue by chasing away wild cats and getting leaves out of the trees for the zebras to eat. It's after this act of kindness that the zebras apologize for being mean to the young giraffe and become friends.

The colorful illustrations show the sadness of the young giraffe and the teasing way the zebras behave. Children will learn how calling names and teasing those who are different from them isn't very nice. Children will also learn that being friends with everyone is the best way to have the most fun.

I picked this story from a Persian poem book by Rumi for a multicultural event at my son's school. Then I was looking for a kids version to donate to the school. One parent from India Showed me this book.It seems like India and China and Iran have the same story in their culture. all the parents involved in that event think that this is a great story which gives the kids something to think about.

A great picture book for 4-8 year olds, the story follows Elephant trying to re-unite with his brother. Elephant's journey takes him to many countries in the world - all brilliantly illustrated by Bristol illustrator Olivia Rayner.

My 4-year-old loves elephant, and I couldn't recommend this educational and fun book more highly to others. If you're keen to turn children onto books, this is a good starting point!
