this is one of those plays that begs for the actress to play. it involves a scene in which two of the characters have to
share about the death of their first born by burying them in cracker boxes in the snow. it so tragic and bittersweet examining
both sides of the coin

This is one of the greatest children's books written and the illustrations are amazing. I read it and had it read to me as
a child in the late 60's and my kids (8 and 10 year old boys) still absolutely love it today. It's charming and funny and
the pictures are so fun to look at. It's a classic, and a must for every child's library.

I love this book. Told as a story, GRANDMA ELEPHANT'S IN CHARGE emphasizes the elephant social structure and it also packs
in a lot of zoological information about elephant characteristics and habitat. Two fonts are used to distinguish the main
story from the labels or added information. The illustrations are warm blue and earth tone paintings. There is an additional
paragraph "About Elephants" at the end of the book as well as an index. Karen Woodworth-Roman, Children's Science Book Review

I bought this when my father in law passed away and shared it with my husband. It is a beautifully written poem that was easily
understood by my children as well. I have lent the book out to a number of friends to share with thier children when a pet
died or an aunt, etc. I would buy it again.

This is one of the most comforting gifts that can be given to a grieving person. Blue Lantern has taken a beautiful poem
(my Mom recited it to me when I was growing up nearly 70 years ago), and illustrated it with unbelievable art work. A friend
told me she would rather have this book than flowers.

Gumbrella is as entertaining as a movie on a Friday night.
First you have an elephant trying to help young and innocent animals.Through out the book this becomes a problem.
Second Gumbrella is having as much fun as a kid in a toy store while she is helping the woodland creatures. Will her joy get the best of her?
Third It is winter know and all of the animals are getting restless, but she tells them they can go home in the spring.
Spring finally arrives and Gumbrella soon finds that the animals are gone.
Gumbrella at that time remembers that what goes up must come down or in other words karma. This book is entertainng for kids of all ages.

A Very Magical Book

Discovered this remarkable book in "Shakespeare & Co." the legendary bookshop in Paris. The title and cover art grabbed me
and I jumped right in to the delightful stories, wonderfully recounted by (to my amazement) my old friend Jim Steinmeyer.
He is the ingenious mind behind some of modern magic's grandest moments--the disappearance of the Statue of Liberty and many
more. My traveling partner, MaxPaul, and I spent the balance of our European trip taking turns reading, and loving, "Elephants."
Jim Steinmeyer is a highly-respected and noted illusion designer, magic historian, and, best of all, a enthusiast for all things magic and magical.
Jim and I worked together at Walt Disney Imagineering and he is the real thing. He often introduced us to new and thrilling ways to make our "Disney magic" even more magical--in theme parks, resort night clubs, and Disney's Broadway productions.
Make "HIDING THE ELEPHANT" a visible presence in your library. I have mine on the living room coffee table for easy access--and to share with every visitor. As an unexpected bonus, the book also contains several deft illustrations of legendary magicians created by a living legend (also one-time Imagineer) William (my friend "Bill") Stout.
(WIlliam Stout's books on there own are as magical as anything in print!)

This book by Jasper Tomkins is a lttle gem. I had the book when I was younger and now picked it up again after many, many, many
years. My mother must have read it to me thousands of times and I find myself reading it as a young adult. The illustrations
are one of a kind and always take me back to a world of fantsay only a child could understand.
I hope they reprint this book and many of his others. I have been trying to find other titles by Mr. Tomkins but they are very hard to obtain. After rediscovering this book my love for childrens books and illustrastion has grown greatly, I hope Jasper comes out with new books very soon.

A true home is a place of warmth and this HOME by Carl Larson is a place I'd love to go to. Not only are the paintings inviting
but the writings, link the heart to a dwelling and that's where HOME begins. It would make a great house warming or hostess
gift. Though inexpensive, it would delight anyone from royalty to the "regular" guy.

"God Loves Us, Little One" is a book about an elephant and her young one. The young elephant is very curious about God and asks numerous questions of her mother such as "Does God live in the sky?" and "Does God rest at night the way we do?"
Max: "Cool! Look at elephant's nose!" (referring to the cloth-covered spring simulating the elephant's trunk that goes through the entire book)
Cayden: "I liked the elephant's trunk in the book. That was fun! I liked when the baby elephant asked about God. He asked a lot of questions! I liked the part at the end when the elephants moved too!"
Parent's comments:
"God Loves Us, Little One" by Allia Zobel Nolan is a great book that answers many questions that little ones may have about God. The interactive nature of the book is wonderful and my children had a lot of fun with it. Although the ages on the back of the book are listed as being from ages 3-6, I think that even younger children would love it as well!
