Fun, fun book......

My son loved this book from a very early age, unfortunately to pieces. Now at 20 months old, he has found all the pieces from the bottom of the book bin and STILL wants to read it. The front and back cover are ripped off, the little elephant which pulls out and compares in size to the other animals is missing, the ear of momma elephant is missing and he's torn off momma's face... AND he STILL wants to read it. He was able to learn all the animals quickly in part because of the high-contrast colors. I'm now shopping for another copy. As a parent I like the bright colors, the various animals to help him learn their names and sounds. We can easily point to the animals and count how many are on the pages. And of course comparing the size of the baby elephant to the animals and its mommy.

This is a terrific book for kids of all ages who will enjoy the top quality illustrations and searching out the little details in each picture. The story is a simple one of friendship and going the extra mile to help someone you care about. It's a book for boys and girls alike, but boys will really enjoy the plot that includes performing acrobatic stunts in a junkyard. Hoping for a sequel!

Well....From Elephants to Einstein...: Answers to Questions : Ten Discussions With Workers at the Goetheanum in Dornach Between 7 January and 27 February 1924 he's done it again! Everytime I read one of Rudolf's books, I am awakened even more. Rudolf has a way with words in this entire series. He offers compelling answers to hard to answer questions. I love a man that gets me thinking and using my imagination! Rudolf was a visionary before his time. I highly recommend this book if you are an answer seeker. Everything you ever wanted to know that was far out from Elephants to Einstein rests inside these glorious pages.

A beautifully illustrated book without words telling the tale of an intrepid and inventive mouse who escapes from his book by using the materials at hand to create a boat to freedom in the real world at sea. Monique Felix is a gifted illustrator who's characters speak volumes in their expressions. I used to take turns "reading" the books in this series to my children and having them "read" to me when they were young, and to my delight, they have remembered them fondly and still "read" them from time to time, even though they are teenagers now. This is a charming book, timeless and ageless. Both young and old will find it's simpliciy and beauty an enduring treat.

I got this book for my small cousins as I have known it since my early childhood (my father purchased it for my brother in 1984, 6 years before my birth). This book is truly a classic. I am sure it will tickle children's imaginations for many generations to come.

This is an absolutely stunning novel. Hanley writes in a manner which put me right there with these two lunatics ... men obsessed with being the 'best' at everything they try to do and with fixed notions of what a man should be ... machismo run amok.

I would not have read it had I realized in advance that it concerned hunting elephant for I object to unnecessary killing of elephants. And, thankfully, it is not actually about killing elephants. It is about men locked in psychological warfare with each other and within themselves. The writing skills of this author are enormous.

I've been a fan for years and always found G & E to possess a zen sensibility. The cartoon is difficult to describe, it's like Babar or Lyle the Crocodile, but with them being excruciatingly aware of the fourth wall. I can't wait to share these cartoons with my kids.
