Elephants Books

My father used to read this story to me every night for years when I was a child. It is the story of a baby elephant who returns home one day to discover he will be going on a trip to France. While his mother tells him about the trip he begins to ask how to say certain things in French, and by the end of the book he has quite a good start on a vocabulary list in French.
Well written, nice art, an all-time favorite of mine. I now read it to my 4-year old, who enjoys it quite a bit.

This is the perfect baby book. I was give the girl version for my daughter and I loved it so I purchased the boy version for our newest addition! I love the vintage feel to it. I get tons of compliments on the books . . I leave them in the kitchen for easy access. It's a great book for recording all of your baby's info. I especially like the immunization page. I make a record every time I get back from the dr. office.

I bought this book because I was looking for a baby book for my 2nd child (my girlie!!!) that had a retro vintage look to it. This book is absolutely beautiful and the pictures are great. It is a bit small, and doesnt have a whole lot of space for writing -- and it is missing the tooth chart and a few small things like that -- but having 2 kids doesnt leave much time to fill all of that stuff in anyway, and my sons book had it and I never filled it all out...so this book will be perfect if you dont have a lot of time.

My son is two years old and he loves this book. I had to read it to him four times the first night we had the book. The illustrations are fun and it is very easy to read. One reason my son loves this book is that he can relate to all the ways bernard's family tries to get him into the tub with bath toys, and bubbles. Plus the fact that bernard and his family are elephants doesn't hurt.

Recently my first grade class listened as I read "Bernard's Nap" and it seemed they thoroughly identified with the nap-delaying tactics employed by Bernard. Their eyes sparkled as he was not only able to put off napping for a bit longer, but was able to tuck in all the adults in the process. The pictures were soft and comfortable and filled with interesting and unusual details because Bernard's family are elephants, and as my childrens said, they live in an 'elephant world'!

This is a heart touching story of an elephant that lives with his mom and dad but is very lonely because he cannot find any friends. Gorbachev uses size as an issue amongst the characters. The text is engaging and flows with the life-like drawings filled with watercolors. The illustrations are lively and keep the readers on their toes wondering if the elephant is going to be able to participate in the next game his small friends choose to play. Stark contrasts appear in the pictures as large the items in the house are compared to little elephant's size and the size of him compared to his new friends. This is perfectly fitting for children who are just beginning to feel comfortable being themselves. A fine message highlights the test of new friendships, and is sure to be enjoyed from cover to cover. An easy read for smaller children.

The Biggest Nose shows us to be happy with ourselves. It relates this message in a comical way. It shows that you have flaws, but so do others. A very good book with a very good message. Very well written.

A gorgeous viewl of India. It's a sweet, dreamy story of the adventure of, well, a bird, who travels through towns of India with sing-song narrative that still manages to capture incredible description and stunning paintings.

To turn the pages is a lovely meditation of all that is beautiful in the quiet moments of our natural world. A lovely gift for children and adults alike.

Our kids loved this book. They love to go to the zoo, and they thought Sassi was a delightful elephant.
