My 7 year old has read this aloud to my 4 year old--and both declare it "the cutest story EVER." They seem drawn to the simple, rich illustrations and the message that resonates: you are loved no matter what. This book would make a lovely gift for any child (or parent!).

Although currently out of print, this book, Old Noah's Elephants, is worth finding. The story gives children a glimpse into some of the challenges Noah and his family might have faced living on the ark with all those animals. The tale is told with gentle humor and sweet reverence for God. Perfect for children 5 and younger.

Tickle the Hyenia

We started reading it because my son's name is Noah. We continue to read it because it is a wonderful story! Noah's got this problem. He has all the animals in the boat-- but suddenly the elephants are missing. Soon found in the kitchen, Noah has an even bigger problem. The elephants are eating all the food and now are tilting the boat. Noah asks God for help and God says "tickle the hyenia." Skeptical, Noah does it and the chain of events that result keep my son in stiches.

We borrowed this book from the library months ago and have since checked it out several more times. There is now a waiting list at the library--word must have spread on how cute it is--now it's time to add it to our collection of favorites and actually buy it. Looked [at other stores] no luck. Thanks, for carrying such a treasure!

Very few books are written, which deal with the loss of Adult Children. I found this book to be a godsend. Even though it has been 5 years since the death of my son, this book filled me with the realization that I am normal, and that everything I have experienced and probably will in the future, I share with all these women who allowed themselves to be interviewed. I only hope they do a sequel or a follow-up.

Satoshi Kitamura's Pablo The Artist provides a fun new tale from the Hoof Lane Art Club which aspiring young artists will love. Palo dreams of having a picture in the exhibition: but nothing he paints is good enough for him to enter. Will his self-criticism keep him from doing what he loves best? A fine story of painting and self-confidence evolves.

BOLD, BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATIONS

Most of us have heard of writer's block, that dreaded condition that seems to paralyze authors. Well, evidently theirs is something equally debilitating - artist's block. Poor Pablo the elephant suffers from this. He's an artist who is unable to paint; he stands before a blank canvas while those around him busily create.

This is especially troubling to Pablo as there is to be an exhibition of works by members of the Hoof Lane Art Club, and Pablo yearns to contribute a painting. Everything he tried to paint just didn't turn out the way he wanted. What to do? Miss Hippo suggests that he make a change, go out in the country and see if he can't find inspiration for a landscape.

Well, inspiration comes in many forms and young readers will be surprised at what Pablo finds in the country.

As always, Satoshi Kitamura's illustrations are bold, bright, and beautiful.

A well done comic book! Fantastic illustrations and a great little story line, that'll keep you til the end. I'm not super huge on comic books/graphic novels, but I did love this one (and not just b/c I'm partial to elephants, I promise)! And as the reviewer before me said, it is a good introduction to comics for kids. I don't have any children, but one day (far in the future) I look forward to sharing this touching story with them. For now I'll share it w/ other people and other people's children! ;o)

Path is an amazing read. I bought my copy from a local comic book store but saw it featured here and had to write a few words about it. Greg's artwork is first class, and the story will hold you right up till the very last revealing page. It's also a fab way to introduce youngsters to the comic book universe, I can't wait to share this with my kids when they are old enough. Buy it, you won't regret it!

My five-year old adores this book. It has great illustrations and an engaging story line about a monster hiding in the cave that turned out to be a tiny caterpillar. It is hillarious and involves child attention. After the first reading my son knows who is hiding in the cave and tries to reasure all the scared animals every time we read it. This book is a joy to read for both a parent and a child and has a great message that what we fear often turns out to be small issue.

This book holds the attention of its intended audience beyond belief. The repetitious phrase, spoken by the would be monster, enables young readers to stay involved as they anticipate each animals incounter. Older readers can't wait to find out the monster's true identity. Best of all the illustrations don't give the monster's identity away until the appropriate time. All during the story it is evident the children's imaginations are whirling wildly. A must have for any teacher or reading volunter.

This is a delightful book not only geared for children who are bedwetting, but also children who have low self esteem. This book truly focuses on building their esteem through patience and understanding that many children seem to be looking for. This book is worth reading to your child or having your child read it themself.

Specifically written to help young children to overcome the problem of bed wetting

Enhanced with the delightful illustrations by Marcy Ramsey and now in its second edition, Sammy The Elephant & Mr. Camel is the collaboratively written picturebook story by Jayce C. Mills and Richard J. Crowley specifically written to help young children to overcome the problem of bed wetting. In the allegorical story, a young elephant named Sammy has difficulty holding and carrying buckets of water. Mr. Camel offers him guidance: "You just have to trust you can do it. Some things take a little more time to learn than others, Sammy. And you have time to learn that now." As Sammy grows and practices, he learns new abilities that he can put to good use when a fire breaks out and he has to carry and hold water, then use it at just the right spot to put the fire out. The final pages of Sammy The Elephant & Mr. Camel offer detailed information for parents, by children's author and psychologist Jane Annunziata, Psy.D., about when to recognize urinary incontinence as a problem in children, and what can be done about it, including the importance of first ruling out infections or similar problems. Very highly recommended.

I was a business partner of the late Scott Fithian who originated much of the basis of Tony's book. Tony has taking Scott and the Legacy Company's teachings to a higher level and made it easily accessible to a whole new generation of advisors. The elephant in the room concept brings clarity to the process and gives purpose for learning and wanting to read more. I hope Tony has motivated many other Legacy trained advisors to create and share as powerfully. Scott Fithian's vision of positively changing the way professional advisors do business is one giant step closer.

An Excellent Time Saving Summary
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-14
There's an old saying that predicting the future is easy, it's being right that's hard. The National Defense University produced this book that probably contains the right predictions. They did this by summarizing books on global security from a wide range of authors, in all some sixty books. It is intended that busy people can read this book and get an understanding of what these authors are saying without having to read the original work.

They have broken down the predictions about the future into the optimistic view (neo-Kant) and pessimestic (neo-Hobbs). With each summarized book, the authors have attempted to give an unbiased summary of what the author is saying without injecting their own personal views.

The biggest problem that I see with this book is that it predicts that the overall world view will remain about the same. There is no discussion about what happens to the world economy if oil goes up ten times or if global warming really raises the level of the oceans by twenty feet.

As I said in the opening paragraph, the correct prediction is probably here, but picking which of the sixty predictions will be right is hard.

Fifty analysts provide important essays on aspects of the post-Cold War political environment, analyzing the U.S. role in global security, tracing changes, and providing insights perfect for college-level students of political science. Even working politicians will find SEEING THE ELEPHANT as a major work providing an important intellectual history of U.S. national security thinking since the fall of the Soviet Union: such an analysis provides a foundation work central to any thorough understanding of U.S. foreign relations today.
