Keep up the great work and look forward to the next one. The children you are supporting from the proceeds of the book also a very noble cause.

This book is not at all what you might expect. If you open it expecting the diary notes of someone who descended into insanity, you won't find that here. What you will find, instead, is a big, lush, lavish volume, rich with pictures and personal notes, splashed with artwork and experiences of the author's cross-global journey through South America, Africa, and Asia. It is as much as work of art as it is a book.

What Garner calls his "madness" is what he refers to as his previous obsession with making money and building corporate empires. He spent years of his life at this until one day, he just dropped it all and went off in search of himself. For two years he and a companion, Heather (whose last name we never learn), wandered the world living with the people of the countries they visited and looking for adventure. They found plenty of it--from a fearsome night they spent in Mexico thinking they had been kidnapped, to being attacked by the most unusual brigands in Central America, to living among the Masai in Africa. Everywhere Garner went in search of answers, he found people in every part of the world who were honest, hospitable and somehow managed to live happily even without water, food or school supplies to educate their children.

Not only is this an emotional journey of discovery, it is also a treasure hunt. The author has placed a secret code in his volume and given readers the key to deciphering it. All over the world, he has hidden objects which he invites readers to find as they unravel the code. He has dedicated sales of the book to helping poor children worldwide, and every time a new child is helped, he places his or her picture on the website.

And the website is as lavish and artful as the book. It contains more information about the secret code and Garner's personal campaign to save the world, one child at a time.

And he gives the most unique explanation of typos I have ever seen. On little cards inserted in the pages, he says things like: "Think you saw a typo? Think again." Now that's a stroke of genius that other authors could envy. It automatically excuses every error missed in proofreading.

On the book's gorgeous full-color cover, he says, "This is more than a book, it is an experience."

Armchair Interviews is inclined to agree with him.

This is more than just a book, it is a journey around the world

I have to say, being an avid book reader, this book was truly a wonder. This is a book for everyone who is interested in travel, adventure and buried treasure. It has 40 amazing chapters of travel stories from around the world. The stories themselves are so well written and it amazed me they are all true. Also, inbetween each chaper you get to see full color artwork and photography that the author has taken from all over the world. In addition to all that, GD Garner has actually hidden clues inside the book that lead the reader to a buried treasure! The clues are hidden on all 7 continents as well as online and the reader can use the book and website to uncover the buried treasure! This book is really an amazing and unique experience for every reader. It is an absolute MUST READ for anyone interested in travel, photographgy, or just really amazing true stories. I highly recommend this book as a next purchase for your book collection.

It only took reading the book's prologue for me to completely commit to following the author through his journey. The perspectives on geography, culture, and humanity were vivid, enlightening, and entertaining. The artwork and photography included alone has value way beyond the asking price. I've dreamed of traveling the world. I can only hope that I would receive the experience a fraction as well as the author. Add that part of the proceeds from the book benefit children's charities makes this book a must buy!

The purchase of the book was easy and its delivery was prompt, even with the Amazon offer of free but relatively delayed delivery.

This is the second book of John Ehlers, a well-established pioneer in cycles and trend analysis for the technical analysis of stock price behavior. It is for advanced analysis, and it is a sequel to his classic book of "Rocket Science for Traders". You do need a math aptitude and some programming experience to get the maximum benefit of both books. John also offers eratta and corrections for minor typos in the formulas as well at his Mesa website.

Those who find this book of interest might also check on John Bollinger's classic book "Bollinger on Bollinger Bands", Steve Achelis' book on "Technical Analysis from A to Z", Steve Nison's book on "Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques", and Martin Pring's "Technical Analysis Explained", Paul Murphy's "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets", and "Technical Analysis of Stock Trends" by Edwards and MaGee. This is not a complete list, but a good start.

Remember that no single book offers the Holy Grail of investment. Stay objective to balancing your background, because investing mistakes can be the most expensive education you will ever have.

The computerization and digital signal processing development let improve classical indicators essentially due to application of modern methods of information processing to prices. Indicators began to smooth better and to delay less. However . First, the prices are non stationary, i.e. the characteristics of filters are varied during the time. Second, as different from technical problems, the kind of a signal and noise distributions for the price are unknown, i.e. nobody know what to filter actually. Third, being filtered by means of Fourier and similar methods prices change the previous values to the addition of the new data: we receive ideal trends under a history data but we can only trade them from right hand to left hand.

Fourier transformation is based on representation of initial series by the infinite sum of sinusoids with a various phase, amplitude and frequency. Recently wavelet transformations was widely adopted in various areas of data processing in which initial series are represented as the sum of some locally defined functions named wavelets. They are constructed by shifting and vertical and horizontal scaling of certain the prototype function. Wavelet transformation, in essence, is fractal that allows the effective using it in the technical analysis. First, it allows to carry out the multiscale analysis of prices, objectively identify trends on various scales by duration and amplitude, separate traders to various groups: scalpers, day traders, swing traders, position traders and long-term investors. The multiscale analysis can be interpreted as the analysis on various time frames. Second, it allows determine noise as the insufficient for reception of the profit amplitude and frequency movement of the prices that effectively allows filter the price series simply subtracting the lowest scale wavelets from it. Third, the additional filtration of white noise without delay is possible. Fourth, long-term trends are defined objectively. Fifth, wavelets do not contain optimized parameters in construct to standard indicators. Sixth, the used wavelets type is adapted to deal with the time ordered data and does not distorted on the last price values. Seventh, the used wavelet transformation is very effective computationally that allows use it in real time for the large massives of tick data. Eighth, it is effective to use wavelets as input data for neural networks and other methods of forecasting and recognition.

Brain Surgeons Can't Trade Stocks Like Ehlers Can

John Ehlers newest title is sure to make even the brightest of brain surgeons quiver for fear of closing the renal artery prior to completing the operation. Other reviewers may diss this author but his latest book truly reaches for the stars and makes it. The chapters while short, are to the point and exquisitely illustrate the concept being taught. If you are new to trading systems the shortness of the explanations may be too short but for experienced traders and developers of trading systems they are long enough.

Aspects of many indicators are reviewed with fresh insight added for several new systems not talked about in print before. Removing the lag is the traders dream. Many of the indicators shown do work although errata in the code does spoil some of the implementations given. Ehlers has provided for the keener updates on his website that corrects the mistakes, kudos here for doing the right thing.

Overall Ehlers has done it again and this book should be a staple in any traders library. As for the wannabees wanting all the answers and sure fire methods, choose brain surgery as your career option. No one said trading would be easy but Ehlers has given more toolsets that a successful trader can use in a concise to the point book.

Tabucchi's works are settled on the margins that are not a limit, but instead carry within possibilities, they allow characters, events and situations to turn into their opposites in accordance to the dim and creative field of his fantasy. During an ingenuous first reading, his books are infinitely enjoyable, but yet much more joyful for those who accept sharing Tabucchi's position on the margins of literature and philosophy in a fruitful and co-creative dialogue with the author.

Review Date: 2000-08-05
This book is one of the more enigmatic of Tabucchi's. Spino, who works for a morgue, is a man unwilling to make a commitment to marriage while enjoying a long-term relationship, a man unwilling to finish his medical degree and "make something of himself". On evening, a young unidentified body "Carlo Nobodi" is brought to the morgue - the victim of a police raid / shootout. Spino becomes obsessed with identifying the person and traces Carlo back to his school days without truly succeeding at putting a person or family behind the name.

The story is part detective story - tracing an identity through a priest that befriended Carlo, through the jacket he wore that had been given to his father (uncle?), through the small boarding school in which Carlo resided, and through Spino's connections in the seamy underside of the port. Memory, dreams, death and commitment all wind their way through the plot.

This is another fine book by Tabucchi which forces one to consider connections, life, death and identity. I recommend it.

TAVERN AT THE EDGE OF NOWHERE is not what you expect -- it's a lot more. It's funny. Not just amusing funny, or chuckle funny, but sometimes laugh out loud funny. It's thought-provoking. It's everything you look for and more. It's not for everyone, mind you. You have to read for more than just passing the time. But if what you read matters, this is a good book to pick up.

This is a time travel story with a difference. It is interesting and funny. A remarkable novel of considerable entertainment value. Mr Joyce's sence of humor is distinctly warped. My only complaint is that the book is a little on the short side. Even so, this is one for the serious collector as I can see a bright future for this author. The story really rolls. Never a dull moment. Would make an excellent movie. I wish the author luck, but hope that his next book is a bit longer.

The Tavern At The Edge Of Nowhere is a time travel story full of original ideas. On the journey there is romance, plenty of laughs and some ‘darker’ moments. New concepts are introduced and old ones bent out of shape. It is the rather unusual story of Tony Wheelbough. In extreme depression after the death of his girlfriend, he disappears off into the Scottish mountains. The intent is suicide. Instead, he gets VERY drunk, and meets a weirdo with a time machine. Tony ends up at the Edge Of Nowhere, where he is ‘persuaded’ to become the barman at The Tavern. Once there, he quickly discovers that the patrons can be more that just a little bit ‘unusual’. Read an unusual detective story in ‘Love, Death And An American Car’. Contemporary horror as you read of the serial killer known only as ‘The Jawman’. All this and more in something that flows as smooth a honey off a warm spoon. Individual sub-plots fitting seamlessly into the frame that is The Tavern At The Edge Of Nowhere. Several folk have compared the writing style to Douglas Adams (which is unintentional) and this book has won the April 2001 Book Of The Month award at BookNet .... Trust me, you will enjoy it! ....

This story is sober science fiction in the tradition of Arthur C. Clarke's "2001" series i.e. there is NO dwarf king questing for a magic ring. "Beyond the Edge of the Universe" is both the story of a contentious voyage of exploration undertaken by two justifiably paranoid superpowers and the inner turmoil of Kellan Blake, the protagonist. (Note to self: Deep space is not a good place to have a mortality crisis.) The author excels at describing exotic, alien worlds. You can almost feel the gentle sun of the water planet Dahai on your face and feel the sweat running down the back of your neck when Blake and his mining team are trying to outrun the deadly, rising sun on the nightmarish planet Imrada. There is suspense and some interesting plot twists in Beyond. . . and the characters are well-drawn. I particularly liked the skilled but alcoholic Stoney, an Imperial Ranger; Kit Dreyer, who looks like my maiden aunt Tillie but is tough as nails and a formidable opponent for the arrogant Julian Alfiri; and the irrepressible robot Bellycold. As I finished this book, I thought I might not have heard the last of Blake and Stoney, Dreyer and Alfiri, Bellycold et al. A sequel

Award winning poet Scott Arminas presents Sojourn on Eternity's Edge, an anthology of brief poems and prose passages, embodying Christian as well as secular reflections, sentiments, and love. The simple free verse is expressive and flows naturally within each page-encapsulated thought. Highly recommended. "It's Ironic": Sometimes life seems un-livable / Depending where in life you are. / Most of us are desperately seeking / A radiant shining star. // So many people / So many problems / So many ways by which to see / The whole of mankind trading reality / for virtual reality. // It's ironic some may say / That there is no good in our present day / But when evil confronts these very same people / They often look the other way.

It applies to ANY business and EVERY business. I run an Internet-based publishing company and use the strategies in this book, everyday.

The results?

I have doubled my NET profits in three months!

I will trade less that $15 for that kind of money all day and everyday...

I thought I was good at helping my clients increase sales and marketing before I ran across Dan's books. I'm a business coach with results that over 80% of my clients were doubling their business in 3-4 weeks BEFORE I ran into Dan and his materials, but now I've actually been able to increase my own marketing response, and that of my clients by 4-5 times, not just double.

I coach clients on marketing and sales techniques, yet Dan blows me away. Although I was already way above the national average for marketing response and sales, once I started reading and working with Dan and his materials my own figures really went through the roof.

Now I read everything that Dan writes and constantly get better and better results for my own sales and marketing, and for my clients.

What you learn in this book can be applied to more than sales letters. I use the principles for all areas of sales (networking, marketing, cold calling, etc). I've also taken his ideas for a long sales letter and applied them to shorter marketing media such as post cards. My post card response rate went up 4-5 times!! Fantastic.

Dan is probably one of the easiest marketing and sales experts to follow and learn from, and his ideas deliver results.

Dan always tells it like it is in a no-nonsense fashion. The book is full of hard-nosed, pull-no-punches solid advice from the trenches. I highly recommend it. In fact, Dan Kennedy has really helped my business. Actually, I recommend anything that Dan Kennedy creates, writes, and sells.

Applying what I learned from his courses allowed me to grow my "kitchen table" business into a nice six-figure a year income.

I like Dan Kennedy so much that I acquired a license to sell his "Magnetic Marketing" toolkit. It is highly recommended.

The book is a little bit old (1999) but nevertheless it offers good advice in a easy to read, simple and concise way. It addresses five main areas: People - Hiring The Best and Keeping Them, Doing Business On The Web, New Products, Not-So-New Products and The Partners You May Not Think Of As Partners (Coworkers, Service Agencies, Dealers, the Press). My favorite books about Microsoft are still "Microsoft Secrets" from a management point of view and "Hard Code" by Eric Brechner from a software engineering perspective.
