This play is probably Giraudoux's masterpiece: it contains every emotion that could possibly be felt by a woman torn between
the love of her brother and the hate of her mother. Electre is a complex mythical character, incredibly well described by
Jean Giraudoux.

This book is a reprint of one first published in 1912. I purchased a used copy of it last year. Although the translations
are old, they are fairly accurate, if you're looking for a literal version of the Greek in English prose. There are also
numerous foot notes explaining the more obscure jokes. (And unlike many modern editions of ancient texts, these notes are
printed right on the bottom of the page you're reading, instead of in the back) That said, if you want a funny translation,
this is not the best. Being literal, I believe, hurts Aristophanes more than it helps. I generally only use my copy of this
book to reference along side other more imaginative translations; such as those by say Douglass Parker.

This play is one of the best plays Barbeau ever wrote.
As always, he's a player with words and turns québec slang language (joual) into a rare jewel.

I cannot afford the price!

Bernard Werber, author of "Les fourmis" (The Ants)and a legend in France, has done it again: writing a book with a scientific
background and making it entertaining is no small feat!
In this book, you'll discover many mysterious things and experiences that you will tell to everyone you know. It was offered to me, I love it and keep browsing through it from time to time.
Recommended to curious people.

Civility Anatomized -- From Below

This is a fine study of the filthy anti-conduct text, GROBIANUS, which Correll calls "that strange verse compendium of bad
manners first written thirty years after THE COURTIER by the minor German humanist Friedrich Dedekind." Beautifully written,
elegantly thought, this book analyzes early modern identity formation, "refocusing on the margins" to show how this text seeks
to "secure normative masculine identity and construct the gendered subject of civility by means of the labor of aversion."
Correll sees GROBIANUS as an end point of conduct books and connects it with a dense early modern European context. One comes
away with an enlivened appreciation of the minor text and with the pleasure of contact with an insightful and deeply informed
intellect.

Akademiai Kiado's two dictionaries, MAGYAR-ANGOL SZOTAR (ISBN 9630569434) and ANGOL-MAGYAR SZOTAR (ISBN 9630569426) are the
only real option for English-speaking students of Hungarian in search of a pocket dictionary. The only competition, Hippocrene's
awful pocket offering and the Rough Guide Hungarian phrasebook (which turns out to just be a normal dictionary) contain so
few items and are typeset unreadably to even come close to Akademiai Kiado's.
Edited by Tamas Magay and Laszlo Kiss, the dictionaries are sold in bookshops in Hungary and are mainly focused at Hungarians. However, the editors were kind enough to make these entirely useful for English speakers. The Hungarian foreword has an English translation, the list of abbreviations has explanations in both English and Hungarian, and there's a layout of Hungarian speech sounds just for foreigners. MAGYAR-ANGOL SZOTAR contains three appendices. The first, a table of English irregular verbs, and the second, a short list of English irregular nouns, need not concern us. However, the third, conversions between metric and imperial weights and measures (and their English and Hungarian terminology) will prove quite useful for the foreigner travelling in Hungary.
The dictionaries are durable (hardcovers with no dust cover), insanely cheap (especially when bought on the spot), and relatively recent (1995). There's no better option for pocket dictionaries, highly recommended to all students of Hungarian.

This is a wonderful book covering the tradition of miniature painting in England. Plenty of plates and images to inspire
both artists and scholars. I consider this book a "must have" for those seriously interested in the study of this precious
art form especially as it relates to England. My only wish...additional chapters highlighting the current revival of interest
in the genre!

A necessary book to anyone who is interested in the subject matter. The chapter on Shakespeare, in particular, is a revelation.
A great book on English poetry by a great English poet.
