I ordered this book that comes with a CD for my son who only speaks French and he absolutely loves it. The CD is only 8 minutes long, it's all in French and at first the music seemed a bit too much for the very simple story. But then upon further listening I think the music perfectly represents the story and the sound effects. we love it. We've had it for a couple of months and my son (2 years old now) listens to it several times a day and reads the book with the CD and acts all the events that take place in the book. Highly recommended to those whose kids love firemen and telephones. Note: the firetrucks are the sound of French fire trucks which made us really nostalgic. But I am sure American kids can also recognize that it's a firetruck sound, even if it doesn't sound like the American fire trucks.

These dictionaries come in a single English-German (as here) or a reverse German-English. And they aren't cheap. But if you are serious about translation and learning contemporary German, these are indispensible. Mine would have to be dragged out of my hands by main force.

This is a great dictionary, full of thorough definitions, slang usages and idioms, an invaluable tool for anyone learning or translating Spanish!

Awesome, simply awesome. But DO NOT try these operations at home

I kind of like this one. It gives quite the geography lesson all wrapped up in water. Each chapter is informative and could be read in a single setting. I like how simple the Grand Canyon is explained in the second chapter. The point of the book is the whole river and the author does a nice job of introducing all of the rivers components. But the best chapter is five, the people of the Colorado Basin. It starts not with Euro-man but with the Anasazi. Chapter six is the geography lesson. The map on page 11 should have been re-printed back here for the young reader to reference. I was going to rate this book a four until I saw the �To Find Out More Section�. It make this book a Wow. It recommends even web sites and a CD-ROM.

This is a long-needed reprint of a work which is fundamental for understanding Cicero's __Pro Caelio__. That speech relies heavily on humor and comedy throughout, and Geffcken explains her subject clearly and concisely. This book is a cholarly work, but it opens the speech up marvelously: after reading Geffckken you are much more likely to realize just how delicious some of Cicero's comedic attacks are. I recommend it to absolutely anyone who might read Cicero's __Pro Caelio__, including high school students preparing for the AP examination.

This book is absolutly hilarious, and gives the reader a view of the world I'm sure few of us have even considered. The obvious has never been so funny and philosophy never so modernly witty.
It's a fantastic work of mind-bending, "laugh-out-loud" wonder.
Umberto Eco has created a philosophic masterpiece for the masses.

Every once in a while, a book is published that siginificantly advances knowledge. Thus, it is with great pleasure that I state that Dr. Nemata Amelia Blyden's book is bound to be regarded as one of the greatest books on West Africa produced in this decade. This brilliant, synchronic, historical tour de force teaches us about the trans-oceanic migration of West Indians from the Caribbean to Sierra Leone in the decades after slavery was abolished in the British colonies in 1807. Employing both primary and secondary sources, Dr. Blyden in the eight chapters of this book chronicles how the West Indians who immigrated to Sierra Leone during this period came to occupy numerous positions in the colony and the colonial administration; how they became an important minority, albeit not always well-liked; and the impetus for their power and influence. More tantalizing is how Dr. Blyden skillfully weaves together the economic, political, psychological and social contexts of the time (1808-1880) to tell this fascinating history in an interpretive style. In essence, any student of history and the social sciences should get a copy of this book. It represents effulgent scholarship
