There is not too much available information on the Vienna Actionists, and this book stepped in and filled a necessary vacuum. Especially good since it is illustrated generously, and still shockingly so - as I found out by reading it on the NYC subway.

Shocking?

This must by far be the best and most comprehensive book on Viennese Actionism available until now. As I understand from the colophon, even after 35 years the publisher was unable to find a printer in the UK that was prepared to agree to produce the book without excluding "some of the photographs". A shocking fact indeed, in my opinion. Fortunately, the remaining pictures are very good. In combination with the text a very enlightening book on the workings and especially the real intentions of this art movement, which has been feared, incriminated and/or discredited far too long now. A healing book.

A hand book for mastering the dynamics of groups.

The Zen of Groups is a handbook for effective group participation. It achieves this through distinguishing the elements of group dynamics.

The Zen of Groups is written in simple language and makes complex and subtile issues clear and easy to understand. This gives both the beginner and advanced facilitator or group participant alike access to understanding and making a useful difference in the dynamics of any group.

The Zen of Groups also has a section of tools and processes which can be applied to assist groups which are stuck or not acheveing their purpose to move forward.

I highly recomend this book to anyone wanting to develop a greater understanding of the the dynamics of groups. I use it all the time as a resource in my practice as a professional facilitator.

Facilitation - Working with People

This group puts together a wonderful message of how to manage group meetings with heart. They give clear examples of activities that can be used to defuse conflict, enhance team effectiveness, and methods to monitor yourself and your team for leaving your baggage behind and achieving group synergy. If yours is a consensus-oriented organization, or you'd like to begin using consensus-based decision making, this is a great book. See also their book specifically for meeting facilitation, "The Art of Facilitation".

Ocean Info for young readers

Starts out with a great map of the Oceans of the World that shows locations of gulfs, bays, seas, and trenches. Here is an example of an interesting fact presented. "Did you know that the water in the Persian Gulf could reach 97 degrees Fahrenheit?" There is a lot of information packed into this book's 32 colorful pages. The cities where we live give us the chance of finding more about our lifes. We thinks for our past or for our future but the time we live, now,is the mysterious and we feel alone behind the present. So we can't count the importance of the seconds in our life. All of us,in every second, lives inconsciently an eathquake in the deep of our heart .With the power of human love we must return to the life in every second. A magnificent look at history of typography
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2003-08-21
This is not a book on modern typography, or on modern ad campaigns; it is a wonderful review on the use of typography through the first 50 years of the 20th century.
Best of all is that the book itself has a beautiful design and concept, as if it were a book from that era: rounded corners, washed away colours... Therefore, in brief, it is more a book to look at, admire, and enjoy, than a book to work with and get ideas from on a usual basis, as it would happen with other kinds of publications. Me, as a lover of typography, strongly recommend it.
