Interesting Foray into the Power of Thought.Review Date: 2005-09-23

SummaryReview Date: 2000-02-12
This book uses the metaphor of a "river" to emphasize that our subconscious nature is like a relentless far-reaching stream that connects us to others, to our environment, and to the universe. To access the information available from these psychic currents, all we need to do is be open to the possibility of experiencing our psi nature and to find approaches that best match our needs, preferences, and cognitive styles. The examples in this book illustrate a variety of methods for accessing our psi potential in both a conscious mode and via dreams. Specific focus is given to lucid dreams¾ dreams when you are aware of experiencing or being in a dream.
RIVER DREAMS includes two sections and three Appendices:
Deep Currents and Hidden Rivers River Shadows Appendix A, Journaling Your Future Appendix B, The Creative Journal: Journaling Toward Goals and Well-Being Appendix C, Try Your Psi
Deep Currents and Hidden Rivers describe the author's experiences in exploring psi, personally and professionally and examines factors that enhance connections with our psychic nature. Resonance explores mind-to-mind communication (telepathy), contact with the environment (remote viewing or clairvoyance) and accessing information about future events (precognition). The following chapters, Fire!, Airplane Down, Search for General D., and On the Run, present personal psi experiences and remote viewing of colleagues for several operational STARGATE projects. Examples include detection of a rocket motor test, location of missing airplanes (including a Soviet plane in Africa), location of an Army General abducted by a terrorist group in Italy, and the location of a fugitive wanted by the US Customs Service and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
River Shadows reviews a variety of issues associated with psi phenomena. Confluences examines the root cause of why psi is sometimes disregarded, ridiculed, or even feared by people. Delta Regions considers psi from an explanatory viewpoint and places the phenomena in a perspective that tracks aspects of quantum physics (the hologram, nonlocal effects). This section also considers the potential that psi has for contact with extraterrestrial or multidimensional intelligences. It also includes perspectives on certain experiences, such as UFO sightings and abductions, that draw sensationalistic media attention. An alternative view, based on the author's lucid dream experiences, is suggested. The last chapter, Reflections, considers the author's personal and professional psi experiences from a learning and philosophical perspective. We can all uncover our intuitive/psi nature in both conscious and in dream states. However, for most us, the easiest way and most personally meaningful one is to experience psi in the dream state, in the domain of our "theatre of the mind."
Appendix A, Journaling Your Future explains how anyone can tap into their psi potential and gain information about approaching future events. These are seen as probabilities dancing on a hidden stream. Some are likely to occur; others are less likely and can even be avoided or changed. The key to becoming a "future see-er" is intention and dedication, along with journal keeping.
Appendix B, The Creative Journal:Journaling Toward Goals and Well-Being explains how anyone can improve their physical and psychological condition through dedication and goal setting, and by drawing on the insight available from dreams.
Appendix C, Try Your Psi provides the reader with a step-by-step approach for exploring their psi potential while awake and relaxed or via dreams. Specific "targets" are included as psi objectives to help illustrate experimental and practice procedures.
RIVER DREAMS presents our psi nature from a natural and practical perspective. It encourages anyone to explore for themselves to discover the reach of their subconscious connections, and to apply this uncovered talent for helping themselves and others navigate along the challenging river called life.

Greatest of Top 7 Spiritual Books Since 2000Review Date: 2009-01-07
I have encountered no other Christian spiritual figure so inspiring to read about and learn about, not only because of her obvious spiritual achievements and wonderful communications about them, but also because her life story and insights are so unassailable that they become the standard for all Christian writings since the Bible.
Even Rudolf Steiner, whom I highly admire and who thank goodness is not at odds with the beliefs of Hauffe in my opinion, excessively, and Andrew Jackson Davis, of whom at this point I have to put in somewhat less trust for truthfulness relevant back then and today, I think need to be held to the standard of the Seeress' insights.
This book, which I've only today finished reading, I'm sure will prove a wonderful spiritual inspiration and resource for any dedicated Christian (or even entirely open-minded) individual.
One slight weakness of the book is the astonishingly bold and significant in terms of overall text and content, speculations on the part of the author, DeSalvo. This includes the fact that he doesn't quite sufficiently acknowledge, in my opinion, that he is engaging in such wild speculation, which in a couple of cases, I could even come up with alternative speculations myself based on my background, although perhaps also admittedly wild.
However, it is a treasure for DeSalvo to have introduced in the context of the Seeress and in this wider context, the 16th century amazing and admirable individual, John Dee, advisor to Queen Elizabeth I among other roles. Also highly appreciated by me is DeSalvo additionally introducing me, for the first time, to the Voynich Manuscript, as he says the most mysterious and certainly one of the most fascinating books in existence (it likely dates from the 15th century and even likely was written in its indecipherable language with exotic illustrations, by Leonardo DaVinci).
A more subtle positive throughout the book and in the bibliography is the advocacy of mesmerism and hypnosis, but especially the former, which is far too little understood and appreciated today, especially in comparison to the better known hypnosis.
One other weakness of the book, although in itself how DeSalvo incorporates it is fascinating, is DeSalvo's serious and major enough incorporation into the end of the book of the famous Roswell, New Mexico 1947 UFO incident (as well as the famous 1961 alleged alien abduction of Betty and Barney Hill). I say this is a net weakness, although he does it in a fascinating manner, because its relation to the rest of the text I think is more tenuous than all other parts of the text, plus extreme skepticism is needed in the case of UFO research, much of which (although I'm no expert) I discount, and finally because, although once again I'm especially no expert on famous but contrarian UFOlogist Jacques Vallee, his views at the surface level of my knowledge are intriguing and his biography is as impressive, as the famous more traditional and heavily involved in Roswell and the Hill Case UFOlogist Stanton Friedman. Friedman is heavily relied upon by DeSalvo in the book, and Vallee and his contrarian views on many things UFO-related (although I'm unclear how opposed he is to the bulk of research related to Roswell and the Hills) are unfortunately never brought up.
But this whole UFO thing, as the above lengthening of my review also indicates, is something I prefer to stay away from, and therefore in fact I know little about UFO research and don't mind if that stays the case. It just seems to me incorporating UFOs into this greatest spiritual book in many decades does it a disservice and in fact represents the one wild speculation added to the solid account of the seerest herself, that DeSalvo indulges in, that I certainly can't entirely accept or go along with.
But the Seeress and her life are so heretofore unknown, and so beautiful, and so inspirational, and so advanced-level understood and made clear with new research and not just rehashing or republishing some of the obscure past material about her (although the old materials are well-explored and presented here and are essential towards understanding the Seeress), and the accounts of John Dee and the Voynich Manuscript so intriguing, that all of DeSalvo's other speculations can be forgiven and this book accepted as the most beautiful and wonderful Christian and spiritual book to have been published in many decades.
This is a must buy!

Her Secret Language
And Prophesies from the Spirit World
By John DeSalvo, Ph.D.
Talk about an interesting book! I am always on the lookout for facts to back up amazing phenomena, and Dr. DeSalvo not only backs up his statements with facts, he answers your questions before you ask them. The result is a fascinating biography of a woman with extraordinary talents, one being like those of Edgar Cayce and Sir Oliver Lodge. While Casey gave histories and cures for illnesses, the Seeress actually described the method used by spirit to attain the spiritual concept behind them.
I was particularly interested in the secret language of the not too well known 19th century German mystic, Frederika Hauffe (1801-1829) for several reasons. It is something that I experienced myself once in a vivid dream, and, I have read about it in books by past life hypnotist Dolores Canon - Conversations with Nostradamus, and her Convoluted Universe, that this language of spirits has been encountered by persons under hypnosis who, at a certain point during hypnosis enter a level where they understand a language they do not know in this incarnation. Dr. DeSalvo explains in his Preface that the basic language of the angels that the Seeress encountered always happened on a journey at a certain soul level in the world of spirit. To me, this proves the reality of "the secret language."
Another interesting point is the fact that this Seeress was able to write the language as well, examples of which are in this book that are from the original German writings about the Seeress. Seems that the spiritual script that the Seeress was able to write has a lot in common with the script produced by Betty and Barney Hill while under hypnosis concerning their captivity aboard a UFO. Samples are given that show the similarity of the two.
Most of us get feelings and impressions of people we see the first time and are immediately drawn to - or repulsed by them. Ever give a thought to what the reason may be? I certainly have, and chided myself for judging people on these feelings. On page 84 DeSalvo's explanation of the Seeress'sensitivity to a person's moral character made all clear the reasons why.
Numerologists will be interested in what the Seeress had to say about our two personal inner numbers, and where she looked to calculate the date of a person's death.
While Dr. DeSalvo was a college administrator he found that once the small talk was over he would introduce thoughts on things of a spiritual nature. Students would immediately perk up wanting to learn more, which proved to him that the real goal for most people is to find something meaningful in life, and that is spiritual enlightenment.

A Divine Slice of LifeReview Date: 2007-11-15
Reading Sefer's poetry is like taking a spiritual plunge into some divine and mystical ocean of thought and light. I found myself mentally immersed in some inner journey ascending upwards toward a long stairway to heaven. Her poems are clothed in her truth and love; a mixture of pure feeling along with a connection with things beyond and within each of us.
She talks about and to angels, esoteric beings, and ideas that leaves the reader uplifted and inspired. I was impressed by most all of her poems but found that some like "Connected" and "Harmony" were particularly standout efforts and their verses resonated with me.
If you are a lover of poetry, or simply a seeker of higher evolutionary truths, then this might be the right book for you to read and perhaps meditate on. It is spiritually laced with magical thoughts that may open inner doors. I highly recommend this book of inspirational poetry. It gets "The American Authors Association's" highest book rating of FIVE STARS!

well-written, quality presentation of material, credible substantiation of ideas and hypotheses.Review Date: 2008-11-25
I was captivated by the material and the unemposing statements by the author. I would recommend it to the readers who are interested in knowing more about this "shadowy" area. Well written, well thought through, well explained.
