This book covers gets into different forms of psychic energy: the seer, the empath, the warrior, and the shaman.
As a whole this book is alright. Actually, the best part was a paragraph at the end, "I've made hundreds of errors and my clients keep coming back. They trust me because I don't try to be a superhero in their presence. I laugh with them, crack jokes, tell personal stories..." That was very sincere and a key part.
When working on these 'skills', please try to incorporate some form of personal development to improve your whole energy and love. Overall, psychic phenomena is very low on the energy scale, as these are just graces that come naturally when you commit to a life of personal development through some form: spiritual training, energy training, Master/ Apprentice, etc. The commitment it takes to rewire your brain and organs to become more in tune with your authentic soul self is great. It can take years, depending on the person, but it will be time well spent. An incredible journey, and you will bless many along the way!
Visit www.JohnPositive.com for sessions by John Positive/ Jan Tijmes (me) to learn more. I am just one person out there open to helping as many people as possible to find their true source of Light. Each person will resonate differently with their teacher, so search out many to find 'the one'.
Blessings and be well :)

I got this book a while ago and it didn't grab me at first (it also had a really ugly cover, not the one you see on Amazon, so...marketing helps), but once I decided to sit down and read it cover to cover, loads of information jumped out at me. I think the best thing about this book is how Andrei really points out that the psychic world and our abilities are normal, everyday things. It's very practical. It also is extremely honest and fresh. I like how there are exercises, but they are only suggestions. It isn't a "program" to follow, but if you need guidance, he offers some. One thing I really connected with--he mentions that often when we meet our mate, we feel like we've known them forever. Often it's because we very well may have dreamed or traveled somehow and met our mates when we were much younger. I don't remember any specific instances, but I've always had a very clear picture of my partner as a teenage boy--around 14. I feel like I know that boy, and when I met him for the first time, it was like meeting someone I had met somewhere else, somewhere secret, like another world or something. Anyway, I love how Andrei makes everything make total sense. It didn't grab me at first, but then again, its lack of pretention and buzz words proves refreshing once you decide to sink in. Oh, and I found this out AFTER I read the book, and it has nothing to do WITH the book at ALL, but I thought I'd mention it: check out his picture...rrreggle...I wish I had a dvd of him reading the book to me!

. . . here is the book that will show you how. This book shows how all of us already have psychic ability and learn how to develop it. The author has a thorough understanding of sensitivity and demystifies the subject, giving practical suggestions and simple exercises to strengthen our innate perceptions. He teaches the reader to trust themselves and teaches us how to do it. Everyone should have this in their library. I loved this book, I recommend it all the time.

Having had a few psychic episodes, I wanted to tap into this ability with greater regularity. When I first opened this book, it began with stuff that sounded very New Age to me, which put me off. However, I continued reading, and found that the book is actually very common sense, with good and even practical ideas for psychic growth.

Whether you are New Age, common sense, or even skeptical, I think you will find this book both well written and entertaining. Like others, I'm finding it very useful for the purpose.

This is the follow up book to the 1980's best seller, "We Don't Die" also team authored by George Anderson, Patricia Romanowski, and Joel Martin. The George Anderson books written with Romanowski and Martin take special pains to provide convincing supporting evidence to lend veracity to George Anderson's discernments or psychic readings. Both Romanowski and Martin are respected journalists who apply the rigors of healthy skepticism to their subject matter. If you're looking for a flimsy debunking, you won't find it in,"We Are Not Forgotten."
Instead, you the reader, encounter page after page of transcripts from George Anderson's sessions with people seeking information from loved ones who have passed over to the other side. After reading this book, one tends not to use words like death, with the usual sense of finality and resignation.
From the transcripts of sessions, it is obvious that Anderson is not cold reading. He doesn't throw out random names and relationships hoping to score a hit. His discernments are usually precise to the point where Anderson will persist with a hint of stubborness. Anderson will often insist that the spirit coming through has given the correct name and relationship to the person undergoing a session. Other less capable mediums or psychics will refrain from insisting on the accuracy of their readings.
If you become engrossed in this book the way I did, the two hundred plus pages will go by rather quickly. You may be interested in pursuing the subject matter further with a reading of "We Don't Die" or several other George Anderson books. The stories included in the Anderson series are insightful, inspiring, and well written. George Anderson truly is one of the great clairvoyants of our age, and his readings are nothing short of remarkable.

I dont want to get involved inbetween the believe systems, but anyone who is not doubting at all that these people are genuine can at least challange themselves....by knowing whats available. Nobody has to change their minds, but there are simply things that seem absolutely and one hundred percent impossible,..... and are not.

I recommend typing the term cold reading into a yahoo search engine. Or might as well go directly to http://www.tarotpassages.com/coldreading.htm

Or, if you would like to know what so called mentalists do....even thoug it seems impossible to the audience, go to www.magicproshop.com and type mentalism into the search engine. or the name osterlind or marc spelman. you certainly dont have to buy anything, but on the webpage you can at least see descriptions of the effects and remind yourself of the fact that even though impossible to find out and stunning indeed> it is not really magic. or supernatural.

So as a review this one does not help much but will hopefully contribute a bit to the discussion.

An excellent read and a nice follow-up to his first book.

I saw this book in a bookstore in Atlanta, Ga over 17 years ago in it's first edition. While I had not been impressed with other "How to 'do' psychic stuff" books, and was also under considerable parental pressure not to acquire more (being a young and "impressionable" teen at the time), a cursory read of the text showed what appeared to be quite simple instructions and a fascinating breadth of supposed psychic abilities covered. So, impressed, I snuck up to the counter when my Mom wasnt looking and bought it.
As other reviewers have noted, the most amazing fact about this book is that you start seeing results from the moment you put its techniques into practice. You will have some degree of success with everything mentioned in the book, from seeing auras to table tipping. There will be points during practice of the excercises when you make a breakthrough, and your hair will literally stand on end.

As one of the most easily accessible texts on psychic abilities I have ever encountered, it is indeed a shame that this text has gone out of print. Having said this, a more widespread reading of the text and practice of the excercises would no doubt make many of the "extraordinary" abilities listed in the book become downright commonplace. The author, and the book, are really that good!

Very, very practical!!

I read this book on the recommendation of an online buddy who belongs to a metaphysical discussion group. He called it a primer on manifesting and I have to say . . . this book delivers!

It gives simple exercises (many of them) that the author has used in his seminars. It is sprinkled with stories from attendees and the results they have seen but it is NOT heavy handed in this respect.

The language of the book is simple and clear. The author is very funny and not out to prove anything. He is just passing on really useful information. I am in the process of experimenting with the techniques and when the results come in, I'll update this review.

I recommend this book because it is very easy to read, very easy to understand, down to earth, and funny.

Happy reading!

Finally, finally! I've just ordered another (used) copy of David St. Clair's 'Instant ESP'. I bought a new copy years and years ago - loaned it to a dear friend after she heard my raves about the book - she subsequently lost it - and I never got over its absence. (I've never loaned another book since then which was that precious to me. I'll buy a book and give it away, now, but upon realizing this book was out of print when I tried to replace it was almost devastating to me.) The lessons really are instant! I've bought, read and studied much material since my initial purchase of David's 'Instant ESP' but nothing has ever replaced its importance to me regarding this subject. It's difficult to understand why this book is not currently in publication!

This is the best book if its kind that I've found!

Read all the reviews... but get this book, if you are at all interested in expanding your mental abilities. It is clear, concise, conversationally written, and the directions are easy to follow. No jargon, no aura of mysticism, nothing suggesting that you must be "above and beyond" the rest of mankind to make any or all of these skills work for you... THE FIRST TIME YOU TRY THEM! They are amazing, and most importantly, they are effective, and efficient. Find yourself a copy of this book... it is truly a must-have, or, at the very least, a must-read!

This book literally saved the life of a loved one in "impossible"
circumstances twice! Thats only 2 of the things that its done
for me. An amazing little book by a man who's been President of
a few different American psychic societies and has a way of coming across which is so down to earth and easy to approach that your level of education doesn't matter. I think thats great.

I also think its amazing the number of books on Amazon and [another store] on this subject that don't get as nearly as many reviews from folks telling you how THEY got specific results from the use of this little book.

I've read many of St. Clair's books and was inspired to create a FREE MSN (microsoft network) community dedicated to him and his books. There are many books out there more sophisticated and prestigious but few that will get you the RESULTS you want as quick or as successfully. That's a rare talent. Thanks David!!

Recently picked up a book by Wanda Easter Burch called She Who Dreams. Come to learn Burch and Moss met in New York many years after Burch dreamt of a young boy drowning, which happened to be Moss. Do not believe in coincidence and if you are looking for a path to understand your truths in life, this book will help your realization.

Real shaman of the West is Poet of Consciousness

Review Date: 2005-09-24
Robert Moss's deep experience in the dreamscape is unlike any other shaman-writer in the West. As in all his books, this one shows the mark of a real shaman. In Dreamways of the Iroquois, Moss is more revealing about himself even than in his previous books. In spite of this personal tone, the book is scholarly at times. Interspersed with a retelling of the ancient myths of the Iroquois and Huron people, the children of Aataensic, is Moss'initiation by Island Woman, an Iroquois guide who leads him into the wisdom of her ancient people. One of the book's most potent message is that dreams reveal the real desires of the soul and should be honoured. There's little instruction here on how to work with dreams (one chapter does it) as the book is more of an exposé and a manifesto for the rebuilding of a dreaming society. I recommend all Moss's books to people interested in dreamwork as they are all very deep and rewarding.

A wonderful read and the author has clearly spent time in other realitys that are just as real as our own. There are many guides and messengers that can help us through our dreams if we are open to them and can remember how to communicate in this fascinating world.

I hope this book will help me along in this writing about the ancient goings-on. If you study Iroquois, you will dream vividly and feel special when looking at stars.

Over the years, I have found myself returning to it, again and again, for solace, strength, and guidance and have always found what I need, when I need it, between its covers. This book shares a universal wisdom that most of mankind has forgotten and acts as a much-needed reminder. Can't recommend it highly enough.

One of the most real and grounding books I have ever read. It can quiet any raging storm. It certainly quieted mine. I have owned this book for years, and everytime that I read it, it's like reading it for the very first time. It is always new. And I am one to rarely read the same book over and over and over. You really do get it when you read this book. Every word resonates with my soul. I am at a point in my life, and am having experiences that are making me really assimilate the truths presented in the book as the way to do this life while on earth. So simple, yet power beyond any earthly measure that I've come across. It has replaced my need for a therapist and other things recommended for controlling anxiety and depression. I am now able to let go and trust in what I've always known to be true. If you purchase the book, you are giving yourself and the planet, because we will all benefit, a great gift.

As intimate companions to famous humans, celebrity pets have a unique and privileged vantage point. In some cases, pets know these celebrities better than other human members of their families! The animals interviewed in this book gifted Lai with their trust. Assured she would accurately reflect their thoughts, they offered glimpses of the person behind the public image. Lai's gift to us is not just the information divulged. Of equal value is the insight into the personalities of the animals. You will be charmed, entertained, and touched by their comments. Through Lai, these animals offer the ultimate gift...to know that our love for our pets is reciprocated in ways we could never imagine.

A Bit of This and That

Review Date: 2008-09-09
One day I stepped into a New Age book store in town and I came across Mountains, Meadows and Moonbeams. I had never heard of the book before but when I opened it I found it intriguing.

This 220 page book is a bit of this and a bit of that. About half the book is filled with cute but rather amaturish black and white illustrations by the author Mary Summer Rain. The back of the book says, "...full of illustrations for coloring. It will help parent's nurture the imagination and creativity of their children...". Well, I do think it fails in that department.

I'm an anti-coloring book mom and the illustrations really don't nurture the imagination and creativity of kids. Children need to draw their own pictures for that to happen. Also, my daughter doesn't seem interested in coloring in the illustration.

Still I like this book very much. My 6 year old has been going through some fears regarding death. She is afraid that I will die soon and she is afraid of facing her own death one day. I bought the book because I felt it would give her comfort and it has.

The book is divided into 4 rather distinct parts. Part 1--The Spiritual Basics of the Universal Truths. It seems to me to have a mix of new-age, pagan, and Christian elements mixed together which I don't have an issue with. Some of the latter parts such as out-of-body-experiences seem too advanced for a 6 year old but the earlier things like "Your Circle of Protection" are very helpful now.

Part 2 is called, Spiritual Lessons from Animals, which include some very nice poetry and a lesson that goes with it. These are appropriate for my child's age. Part 3 is Spiritual Messages from Verse. Part 4 is called Mother Nature's Babies and contains bits of information that would appeal especially to Pagans with discussion of pixies, gnomes, and elves.

It's an odd book. Sometimes we hear of God the Father and at other times the Creator is referred to as Mother Earth. Still the book keeps growinging on me and provides comfort to my daughter. Despite it's imperfection (or because it them) I would reccomend this eccentrically charming book to spiritually open-minded parents and their children.

This book brought a little tear to my eye as I began reading the first 5 pages. It really makes you feel good about the gift of life and how each and every one of us is a special human being. The easy to read format and drawings makes this book a delight to read to my children and is a positive view on life and delves into spiritual awareness e.g. dreams, healing, auras etc.
With all the negativity in media these days, it is refreshing to read something positive. I loved it that much I have bought another as a gift for my close friend.

This is a great book for kids. I bought the book and read it first before I gave it to my daughter. It had the same beliefs I have and although we discussed my beliefs before this brought up more questions for her and gave her deeper insight into the spiritual world. She loves the book. It explains about being born and differant types of psychicness and it is easy for children to understand. With stories at the end that will teach them like children sitting by a grandmothers feet.Great for opening up young minds.

This is an excellent book for teaching the spiritual basics of the universal truths. I have 5 children ages 18, 13,11,9,8. All of them have benefited from this book. This book has helped me explain truths that I could not put in the right words. Mary Summer Rain speaks so well to young minds as well as to adult minds. The pictures are on a childrens level so that where they dont at first understand the words, they can look at the pictures and get an idea of what is being said. By the second time around in the book my children were all understanding. I make this book a nightly bedtime reading. She has broken down the truths in small digestable pieces just enough for understanding. What a wonderful gift we give our children to help them understand and to heal our land. They are the age of peace and harmony.

I had read such glowing reviews for this book, and was disappointed when I ordered my own copy. The simple line art illustration wasn't to my liking and while the book had interesting chapters on dreams, visualization, and wish craft, I found it's basic theology to be inappropriate for my Pagan belief system. I believe in the multiplicity of deity, and was surprised that this book was very monotheist, stressing "one God" who "has a plan for our lives." I would recommend this book for those following a New Age, or Mystical Christian path, but not those raising their children on a Pagan path.

What I enjoyed most when reading the book were the very helpful summaries that Carter provides of the relevant psychological, philosophical and scientific principles that need to be understood clearly, in order to have an intelligent opinion about paranormal phenomena. What on the surface appears to be "supernatural" is nevertheless experienced through the senses, as described by sincere and honest individuals. I myself have experienced such things. How is this possible? It's because there is indeed room in the science of the natural for these phenomena, when blinkers and prejudices are removed. However the masterful research that Carter has put into this book is clearly and interestingly explained; it never comes across as dry academia.

Could the existence of psychic power have ground in scientific fact? "Parapsychology and the Skeptics: A Scientific Argument for the Existence of ESP" is exactly what it says it is. A scholarly written account arguing for the potential existence of this once instantly dismissed as myth concept, author and Oxford graduate Chris Carter tackles the arguments and looks at them objectively with wisdom. "Parapsychology and the Skeptics: A Scientific Argument for the Existence of ESP" is a deftly written piece, an ideal addition to any community library metaphysical studies collection.

I recently finished a book about parapsychology myself, and I had planned to have a chapter at the end, addressing the fact the the results of the experiments I had written about were never generally accepted (at least not publicly). I quickly realized that the subject was a book in itself, and not a chapter. There isn't one reason, there are many reasons, and a lot of misinformation and rumor that has been repeated decade after decade that needed to be dispelled.

I read this book and was so happy because now I no longer had to figure out how to accomplish that, Chris Carter already has. He has done an excellent job of addressing every rumor and mistaken assumption one by one and making it accessible to the non-scientist. It's an interesting subject. As a non-scientist, and someone looking from the outside in, I had always assumed scientists were so rational. But of course they're human, aren't they? Carter's book is must read. Especially for open-minded scientists.

An instant classic on the subject

This is a book which will be very valuable to a lot of people interested in the scientific research which has been done on the subject.
It describes the whole saga that parapsychology has been through on a very clear way. Dogmatism, ignoring evidence, out-dated arguments, a bunch of dogmatic media skeptics, it becomes clear why parapsychology still has such a hard time to become accepted in the mainstream scientific world and this has very little to do with the amount of evidence which is out there.

Looking forward to the next in the series.

The best book on psi skeptics

While writing on a book on yoga psychology, which included a section providing an overview of parapsychology research, I spent a considerable amount of time going through the skeptical literature. I had found Dean Radin's "Field Guide to Skeptics" particularly helpful. But I've never found anything as comprehensive and incisive as Chris Carter's "Parapsychology and the Skeptics."

For those sitting on the fence, Carter marshals a massive amount of evidence showing - for those willing to consider psi research with an open mind - that there is no doubt that psi phenomena have been found in laboratory experiments, and that such experiments have been successfully replicated.

Particularly helpful is the way Carter shows how skeptics misrepresent parapsychological research. Have you at times wondered, if parapsychological research is valid, why nobody has taken up the so-called "Million Dollar Challenge" of the "Amazing Randi"? I was quite surprised to discover in Carter's section on Randi that the "amazing" magician Mr. Randi set it up so he would never have to pay out. Carter quotes Randi as saying, in regard to the challenge, "I always have an out". You will find many other quite intriguing examples of the skeptics' tactics in Carter's book.

Despite some of these at times shocking revelations, Carter maintains an admirable clarity of mind, providing a fair, balanced treatment. Particularly helpful is his overview of quantum physics and its relevance to parapsychological theory. He does not make the mistake (as unfortunately was done by several scientists in "What the Bleep") of claiming that the findings of quantum physics "prove" psi phenomena, simply that they more flexibly allow for the possibility of telepathy, psychokinesis, etc than classical physics.

Finally, showing again his sympathy toward the skeptics he criticizes, Carter helps us to understand the motivation of the various skeptics. Given their wrong assumption that psi "violates" the laws of nature, it is understandable that they might go overboard in their misguided attempt to "protect" science from psi. Together with B. Alan Wallace (who, in his "Taboo of Subjectivity" provides an excellent account of the origins of psi skepticism both in ancient Greece and in certain aspects of Christian theology), Carter will help many understand why skeptics have been so vehement and irrational in their attempted defense of rationality.

Finally, one of the Amazon reviewers, in an otherwise positive review, made three comments that are worth looking at. She wondered why Carter focused mostly on experimental parapsychology and didn't make more mention of the difference between lab psi and "real-world" psi. In fact, he has an excellent chapter near the beginning of the book providing a summary of extremely interesting anecdotal evidence for psi. Regarding the reviewer's follow-up speculation that psi effects in the lab will never be as strong as those found in the real world, Carter doesn't address this, but look at Alan Wallace's "Samatha" project and consider whether individuals highly trained in contemplation may not surprise us all in terms of the kind of psi effects that might be demonstrated in the laboratory.

The reviewer also asked why Carter didn't mention unconscious fear of psi. I suspect this is actually a more powerful factor working in many skeptics than the desire to defend the scientific enterprise (philosopher Daniel Dennett has said - one hopes, in a whimsical mood - that he would commit suicide if psi were "proven" - someone should write to him and warn him about Carter's book!). However, if Carter had thought of mentioning this, I think he was wise not to. The few times I've brought this up to otherwise rational skeptics, they become vehemently irrational in their denial of the possibility that any kind of unconscious motivation - fear or otherwise - could possibly be relevant to their decidedly rational rejection of parapsychology.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention - the book's lots of fun to read.

I would recommend Jacquelin Smith's book for everyone -- whether or not you have an animal friend. She has realized her oneness with all life to the point where she can communicate with the animals. While I have not gotten there, I can see from her book that it is possible. She has such a reverence for all life that it jumps off the page and into your heart.

Jacquelin Smith revealed in her book what I've always believed. I've heard the animals, but not listened and now with what I learned from Jacquelin I am getting quiet with the animals and trying to really hear what they are telling me.
I believe that now I am understanding what my horses truly are telling me.
If for no other reason one reads this book, it's to help an animal lover become more connected with their animal friends.

A well written, and most interesting book. If you are an animal lover, you will be most intrigued by what all animals really think, they are cer tainly not dumb, and this book makes me realise that they are just like children but in a different outer coating!!
So the protection that they should have by law , needs to match that of children . although this is my own point I have to say.!

A thoroughly enjoyable read, easy to pick up and put down at any time..
The more we can learn to communicate with animals, the less they will suffer, and soon may this happen.

This book has changed the way I look and feel about animals. Each chapter had me gripped - it makes so much sense. I am an animal behaviourist and knew that there was something missing. Jacquelin portrays what she does and how we all have the ability in such a way that makes you feel like she has been one of your friends for a long time. There is no ego involved, just a sense of true love for our animal friends. The more people can realise their potential to communicate the better this world will be - Thank you Jacquelin.
