RJ Stewart manages every time to write the most solid of books. This is a book outside of the over-published Wicca tradition. He does work very much from a Western magical perspective however. I worked with this book alongside books by John and Caitlin Matthews, aswell as WG Gray. It is due to be re-published in an omnibus edition along with "Advanced Magical Arts". RJ's work is always trustworthy. His books go well beyond much of the new age nonsense generally available, and working with them is not for the faint-hearted. He leaves you with no illusions as to what is involved with doing the work. Highly recommended for anyone serious about their magical work.

authoritative -- based on experience and common sense

Stewart's book made me get out my highlighter, because he states basic truths succinctly and clearly -- truths I want to come back to again and again. This book derives from Stewart's personal experience, and unlike other texts on "magic," it is no pastiche of the work of others, or a mere catalog of magical correspondences. Stewart offers clear instructions, rationales and a coherent and profound magical philosophy for what he presents. As he defines it, "magic is a set of methods for arranging awareness according to patterns." These patterns catalyze a transformation: "the purpose of magical arts is to enable changes within the individual by which he or she may apprehend further methods [of magic and transformation] inwardly."

The ultimate goal of magic, for Stewart, is not the acquisition of mysterious powers, wealth, health, control of others, etc. These are the vaudeville tricks of inferior and negative books on so-called magic which give the art a bad name. Yes, Stewart calls a spade a spade, from his point of view. His reasoning is simple: "magic attempts to relate human consciousness to divine consciousness through patterns inherent in each." So anything that obstructs that goal is unnecessary and even harmful. Magic is not a religion, and certainly not anti-religion, but rather "a coherent set of traditions regarding human potential." The god(dess) images of a religion are imaginative images "engineered to a high standard of performance." So magicians, without ever denying the power or value of such images, work through and beyond them because they want to experience and work with the reality which lies behind images and which energizes them.

Stewart's style is educated and not a breezy, colloquial one. Though it can feel a little stuffy at first, this book should be in the hands of anyone interested in developing awareness, transforming consciousness and inner growth. I say this not because I expect everyone will (or should) agree with Stewart. I don't always. But his common-sense, grounded, utterly practical outlook is refreshing and unusual when you look at the sometimes careless, unscholarly, irresponsible and misleading books on the market which promise a lot and don't deliver. Use your reason and intelligence fully, as Stewart would urge, because they're tools too. He remarks late in the book, "if the intellect can be turned to prove to itself that conditioned life patterns are false, it becomes a useful tool towards liberation." No quick fixes (I'm usually suspicious of books which promise those anyway), but a path worthy of prolonged dedication.

This book is really special. It covers so many things about auras. Even the auras of plants and animals and learning to see spirit guides. It has some great experiments to explore. It never occured to me that we hear and smell auras too.

A wonderful reading book.

A wonderful story of the connections between those of us on this earth, and those of us who have already passed to another plane. It includes some amazing details on how we are helped by our guardian angels, and how we can have these helpers changed, as well as help in understanding how our thoughts, good and bad, have an impct on those who have died.It includes a very insightful description of what happens when a human dies, and where our soul goes at that moment. Mrs Williams' guide describes how the newly departed soul is taken care of and helped in his/her new surroundings, something that should comfort all of us here on earth. Her comments on how the living should deal with a suicide helped me understand what I can do to help both the person who took their own life and also myself. If we can think of the day of death as "our new birthday" perhaps it will make death easier for all of us, those who die and those who are left behind.

Reading this book will give hope to everyone who has to deal with death, as we all have to, both for ourselves and those we love.

Great book if dealing with the loss of a loved one.

When I first read "Love Never Dies" I was enthralled. I could not put it down. Other books on losing someone you love always dealt with more mundane matters, relocation, care of finances, energizing oneself. That is hard to do when your whole world is shattered. But "Love Never Dies" goes beyond the mundane. Ms. Williams comes alive on the pages, as does her late husband. She talks of the trauma she went through, the despair, but then there shines through the account of contact with him again, the love she thought had died with him comes alive once more. Ms. Williams not only writes of her experiences, she gives aid and comfort to the reader, teling them how to achieve what she has achieved, albeit with patience. "Love Never Dies" also deals with some of the pitfalls that beset the bereaved. Sometimes we find that friends do not really understand what this is all about and make unknowingly hurtful comments. No one really understands your troubles until that have walked in your shoes. Ms. Williams lets the reader know throughout the book that she has been there, and she deals with all kinds of bereavement from many sources. "Love Never Dies" also tells how to help those we love who are no longer with us. To know that we can take an active part in helping and loving those who have gone before us gave me a tremendous boost. I no longer felt frustrated and helpless and lonely. I could do something constructive to help the one I lost, and in doing so, help myself. Ms. Williams' informal style of writing draws the reader in. I felt as though I were sitting at her dining table and listerning to her while we had coffee. She did, indeed, help me work through my grief because she made me feel that I was not alone; that somebody else had been there before me; that someone else knew the emptiness and pain I was feeling. "Love Never Dies" is a wonderful book to read, not only for those who have lost a loved one, but simply for the interesting and uplifting story it tells.

Although published in 1972, this book is full of information, the kind you won't find in today's Scott Cunninghams'or Yasmine Galenorns', who pack their books with spells and superstitions, things that would sell basically.
Conway's book however, delighted me when he went on indepth discussing how the Magical Method ACTUALLY WORKS: for example, he explains the power certain words carry, as over the centuries their repeated use has charged them with this power, or how certain sounds are powefull through the same method, and by pronouncing them correctly, they are imprinted onto the astral atmosphere, ( he also includes appendices in which alphabets and scripts are displayed) and the magician thus becomes a proper conductor for the energies, which are then released to do their work, as the words themselves produce a change inside the human being, as well as outside in his surroundings. Not only that but Conway goes indepth explaining the Tree of Life, the different realms that surround us, intentions, days, hours and time and their respective intentions, correspondences, symbols, planetary relationships, elements...
I am only dissapointed that this book is out of print, and has not been followed up by more books, as obviously Mr. Conway really knows his trade, and I'm sure if a subsequent book is written with the same honesty, clarity and enthusiasm for the occult, it would definitely be in my collection, as well as those who are serious about their magic.

One can read this book on two levels--or perhaps two hundred. It is smoothly and well written, and for one reading with just the conscious mind, it is fascinating, absorbing, and a wonder of a book. On another level, I found myself reading it as a remembrance of things I had forgotten in the dust of ages past. Things I had forgotten, things half remembered, lifetimes lived and not fully explored. I found myself understanding the action in the book at levels far beyond the conscious mind. Some might argue that the product of past life therapy is a group of mind fantasies, and if they do, nothing is lost. As a past life therapist myself, however, I would question the mind's ability to produce something of the awesome depth of this book as pure fantasy. Not only does this book have a profound depth and a wealth of metaphysical, spiritual and philosophical understanding, but it renders that wealth in a supremely readable format. I would give this book 6 stars if that were available.

Once again, Loyd Auerbach, author of the classic work "ESP, Hauntings, and Poltergeists" comes up with a book that is not only extremely informative, but also fun to read. He includes topics such as mental healing, psychic attack, poltergeists, and how to do PK yourself, presenting the material in a sometimes humorous, but always interesting, common sense manner. Few people writing in the field today can do so with as deft a touch.

Loyd Auerbach is probably the most sensible and knowledgeable expert in the field of parapsychology today. Any book by him is worthy of your consideration. This just happens to be the one I recommend the most. I can't say enough good things about Loyd and have been a fan of his for many years. He always seems to be on the cutting edge of the latest paranormal research.

a book that excites me

Why does reading this book lighten me up?

Part of it is the authenticity of the author's voice, the warmth that comes through as he talks of his experience with the afterlife and his deepening relationship with his Higher Self.
Sometimes you read an account of people's spiritual explorations and one comes away with the feeling that a salesman has been trying to sell you something, a set of beliefs or limitations. There is nothing like that here. This book is a delight.
I came away from reading this book with an excitement and lightheartedness about my own path & life, a feeling of infinite possibilities.

There is something exhilarating about entering into different viewpoints. To read of the perspectives both of the recently deceased and those beings offering assistance to them... the dialogues with Higher Self, gives me something that is rare for a book to give; it excites something in me, wakes something up inside. I feel spacious, larger than my own ordinary ideas of myself, a relaxed confidence flows forth.

There is much here, food for thought & food for the heart.

Excellent Afterlife Offering From Gordon Phinn

More Adventures in Eternity has touched me as few books have (I have read a prepublication copy). A worthy follow-on to Gordon Phinn's first book "Eternal Life and How to Enjoy It: A First-Hand Account," this second volume is a combination of adventures in the spirit lands and insights into life both here and there, expressed in the author's dense but easy-to-take writing style.

While this is not an entry level book, there's a lot of good material for all readers. It helps to be familiar with the works of Robert Monroe, Bruce Moen and others and it is best if you can absorb the Gordon Phinn's first work before tackling this one. Still, there is much to enjoy for all readers willing to enter into the refreshingly happy spirit of this writing.

The brief description of the creation of the earth is a classic and oh so different from other approaches to this subject. The retrieval stories, which are not limited to efforts of physically alive human beings but include intriguing stories from "Henry" (Gordon's alter-ego in the spirit realms), are particularly instructive in understanding how the retrieval process works. The higher self material is definitive and uplifting, very helpful to this reader in understanding the role of higher self during this lifetime. We are, indeed, here for a wonderful purpose.

I am ready for a whole series of books such as this one, full of adventures, retrievals and wonderful insights into life here and there. And Gordon Phinn's writing earns my respect in another way. In a refreshing contrast to the self-importance and presumed sense of truth possessed by some New Age writers, the author does not own a dogmatic certainty about everything he writes, and I appreciate his comment about that: "Until then, I hope the reader can relax in my uncertainty and still enjoy the ride."

This reader can and does.

Amazing visual evidence of the multipotential nature of consciousness. We are able to do a lot more with "our mental equipment" than we have yet discovered. More than just a belief system, Dr. Millay documents a lifelong pursuit of the evidence for remote viewing and telepathy. Well done.

I never met anyone who who was an astral-traveller, now I have. Mr. Ferguson showed up in my life in a miraculous way and we shared many touching stories and lessons. It just goes to show you that you can't judge a man by his 3-dimensional job... right, Jesus? Wow, being a postal carrier, could you imagine how many lives you could touch... what a fastinating journey to walk the earth AND other dimensions. I think this book is awesome because it shows us on many levels who we are and breaks down a large mysterious universe into a very easy to read and understandable text. I look forward to the new books Mr. Ferguson is writing!

It is truly a shame knowing that a brilliant man like Myles Ferguson is a postal employee, rather than secretary of state or even president. Until I read this book and learned that Jesus is a good-humored kidder, and also led several lives, I was a Catholic. Now, thanks to this genius mail carrier, I know the truth that the church is trying so hard to cover up.

This book tells a delightful story starting with Gavin Cromwell's early life as a psychic.

From his first ghost encounters at age four through his recent visits to the U.S., Gavin tells us about his life in a forthright, informal style. It is charming, and the childhood illustrations are astonishingly detailed.

Since I have also been a psychic from childhood, I can easily spot when someone's making it up. Those of us who are truly psychic... we talk about it differently than other people do.

So, I was pleased when I read Gavin's story and saw -- from the beginning -- that his experiences are genuine.

This book is especially good for anyone who has felt that they might be psychic, but they don't know who (or what) to ask to confirm it.

I'd also recommend this book to adults working with children who seem to be (or think that they are) psychic or in touch with ghosts.

This is a compelling, interesting book. Once I started reading it, I felt swept up in Gavin's experiences. I kept reading straight through to the last page. It's a fascinating book.

Wonderful trip with Gavin

I've been listening to Gavin Cromwell on paranormal podcasts on the internet, and his book enhances his adorable, friendly, empathetic personality. He handles the difficult times in his childhood with humor and wisdom that would be helpful for psychic young people and their parents. For him, his powers are normal and, although a bit frightening at times, very interesting. He is very lucky, too, to have family members who understand and accept who he is, which made all the difference for his strong self-esteem and self-worth. Not all people are that lucky.

I think this book would be good for those who do not have an open-minded support network, because he is such a friendly, sharing person who will put you at ease. Because he allows you to enter his personal space, he in essence makes you a friend and confidant. He wants psychic people to know that they are not alone in the world, and if you are one and just patient enough, and with enough faith in your spirit guides, then you will also find your path.
