Fantastic, educational and witty account of SEX in and after life!Review Date: 2007-07-23
An excerpt from the IntroductionReview Date: 2006-08-29
Welcome to the second in a series of tours of the afterlife, following The Beginner's Guide for the Recently Deceased (Llewellyn 2004). On that tour we examined our surroundings and the capacities of our astral body; we explored what was going on in the astral world, and who and what we might bump into on our travels; and we delved into the whys and wherefores of existence. On this tour, however, we are going to explore just one subject - but the most profound and most mysterious of them all: sex.
During this tour we will determine the source of our sexual energy, and we will trace its course through our bodies to reveal some of its extraordinary power and capacity. We will see sexual energies that are imperceptible to physical eyes, and we will observe them with the benefit of additional dimensions of space and time. We will observe different types of sexual activity, and we will find sex in some very unusual places. We will look into the deepest core of the subject so that we can grasp its essence, as well as observe it in action from the foot of the bed.
Our primary objective is to present an expansive sexual philosophy - something we don't have but sorely need. Although sex is constantly being talked about, thought about and practiced, it all seems to happen with little real understanding. We experience sexual feelings without knowing where they come from, what they're meant to do, or how best to use them. We have virtually no comprehension of the sexual big picture and no solid philosophical basis from which to judge its phenomena. We therefore find ourselves subject to a great deal of ignorance and manipulation.
If you think sex is something that's only applicable to physical bodies, that it's all about pleasure, that it's simply a function of friction or a gathering of groins, then you have glimpsed but a tiny fraction of it. Sexual energy may well be the greatest power in the cosmos. It is capable of utterly transforming us, and it is the only power capable of unfolding all our potential. And if you think that's overstating the case be prepared to be amazed.

A Trusty Guide Shows the Way to Hidden RealmsReview Date: 2002-04-14
Brent Lee includes a large number of useful exercises in this book, after first presenting a historical overview for each concept. These exercises can help you see your spirit guides, identify your dream symbols, notice what different levels of consciousness feel like, learn how to communicate psychically through the dreamplane we all share, discover how to enter the consciousness of others, practice exploring your past, view possible outcomes of the choices you make, connect with other forms of consciousness, connect with your soul, and practice telekinesis.
I especially enjoy reading the stories Brent shares -- such as the times he played astral travel tag with a friend of his. He could usually catch his friend, because he did not share his friend's belief that it was impossible to walk through furniture! Brent describes an earlier out-of-body experience in which he walked half-way through his closed bedroom door, when the thought ran through his mind that he could not walk through solid objects. "Since I was already half way through the door, I became imprisoned within the door. For a moment, I felt fear: how was I going to explain this predicament to my family? Then I 'got a grip' on myself and remembered that in my spirit form, I am not limited by physical structures. With that realization, I received a mild shock from the door as I passed on through. In the same manner, you can pass through solid objects in your conscious state or in your physical body, or pass your hand through your 'solid' table. The only limitation is the limitation of your own belief about your own reality."
I recommend this book to those who are on a spiritual path and would like to open their minds to new possibilities. BEYOND KNOWING is an invigorating book that will help clean out any beliefs you might be feeling limited by. I am moved by its wisdom, touched by its honesty, inspired by its integrity, and awed by its love. I give it my highest recommendation, and look forward to reading more wonderful books by Brent Lee!

A Foundation of RosicrucianismReview Date: 2000-07-10
This is the first modern and accurate English translation of this work, attributed to a renegade esoteric Lutheran minister.
Lynchpin of the Rosicrucian PhilosophyReview Date: 2001-08-05
Joscelyn Godwin provides the translation, and though my knowledge of medieval Latin is not complete enough to grade her work, her reputation is impeccable and warrants little scrutiny. Adam McLean provides introduction and commentary, and it is for his efforts that this volume is most valuable. He abandons the arrogance shown by J. W. Montgomery who quantified the story as an expression of Orthodox Lutheranism, and doesn't attempt a literal translation of the book's intricate symbolism as any specialized religious banter. Instead, he lists the literary symbols (actual and metaphoric) one by one and shows how they link to key Rosicrucian and Hermetic ideologies, leaving the reader to draw their own conclusions, never attempting to force feed any specific brand of Gospel. Indeed, despite the fact that the commentary's length rivals that of the text itself, my only complaint is that it is not longer, much longer, as I'm sure his valuable insight could literally fill hundreds of pages: it leaves the readers curiosity piqued more than sated.
All of the drawings and diagrams from the original are faithfully reproduced, and summarily analyzed for their symbolic content as well. As a bonus McLean shows links between the Chemical Wedding and other allegories afterwards, paying close attention to Goethe's `Tale of the Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily', and includes the Parabola of Hinricus Madathanus Theosophus (an anonymous translation from `The Secret Symbols of the Rosicrucians') as an appendix. If you are looking for further readings on this subject, my best suggestion is `Foucault's Pendulum' by Umberto Eco. Despite being a work of fiction, it describes a very thorough picture of the Rosicrucian's world, and other medieval secret societies too. Showing them as wildly diabolical, it stills bears the immutable signature of a dedicated and terrifyingly intelligent scholar.

a Light and Delightful readReview Date: 2007-10-02
inspiringReview Date: 2005-01-06
The James children and their father use energy, "Light," in every aspect of their lives and in efforts to help many others. Calling down the light through meditation can be so beneficial to anyone, and to those one wishes to share it with. The James children have developed this skill early in their lives, working toward their soul missions to be healers and helpers in this incarnation. They have reconnected to their higher selves and are working toward meeting their goals.
There has been much talk in recent years about "Indigo Children" and the like. Bryan believes his children to be such and explains what this means in the book. The children voice their own understanding of who they are and what they do with the Light energy. This book of testimonial offers an understanding to those who share these skills and beliefs and also inspires others to look into themselves, to the Universal Energy and reconnect with their own higher self.
Bryan shares their encounters with angels, deceased loved ones, Jesus, saints, teachers and guides. The three offer their understanding of the Lights and the process of which to call them down through meditation. Examples of what the Light can do are shared with honesty and faith.
The book is short but inspiring. It is an introduction to the topics of synchronicity, telepathy, psychic ability and more and opens the doors to many paths should the reader choose to continue their quest for information and guidance. Having an understanding of the topics already I wished there were deeper explorations into each chapter, but for the person just opening their eyes and mind, this book is a perfect primer.

Wilber's effort to integrate psychological approachesReview Date: 2001-04-21
(a longer review can be found at http://users.pandora.be/merlevede/eqnl0302.htm#BOOKREVIEW)
Excellent new book, plus a whole lot of great essaysReview Date: 2000-02-13
Of special importance is the essay titled "Death, Rebirth, and Meditation," in which Wilber, following the Tibetan Buddhist data, details the process of dying and death in intricate detail. He also clearly defines his use of the word "soul" and shows how even Buddhism is not exempt from the doctrine of an eternal and indestructible soul, despite popular notions to the contrary. He explains how certain Advaita teachers who insist that the Absolute is the only transmigrate are somewhat mistaken, and he also mentions the work of Dr. Ian Stevenson, and says that while some persons _may_ be able to remember past lives, most memories are strictly mental, and therefore they dissolve completely once the present-life mind disappears into the soul during the dying process.
Also important is Chapter 14 of _Integral Psychology_. Here Wilber gives, for the first time, a truly thorough analysis of the mind-body problem (much more than he did in SES or TEOS). The chapter is expanded upon in an endnote that is particularly illuminating, discussing everything from the naivete of most forms of "panpsychism," to the extremely low level of consciousness possessed by quantum particles, to the necessity of all exteriors (matter) as having interiors (consciousness), since, as Wilber explains, "To say that the physical universe is a universe of all exteriors and no interiors is like saying the world has all ups and no downs--it makes no sense at all. Inside and outside arise together wherever they arise. . . ." He insists, however, that the real solution to the mind-body problem is not solved through mental understanding of dualistic interrelations, but rather through the radical transcendence of all dualism in nondual awareness, "whereupon the problem is radically (dis)solved."
Anyway, I highly recommend it to Wilber students, as well as to anyone with a serious interest in psychology, philosophy, or spirituality who finds something profoundly lacking in the position of scientific materialism and seeks a saner, more comprehensive approach to matter, life, mind, soul, and the infinite reality that contains the entire display.

Learning to recieve the truthReview Date: 2003-08-14
The ability to navigate the treacherous waters of interpersonal telepathy is only one of the many aspects of the subject dealt with by Tuella in her impressive overview, "Cosmic Telepaty." For the most part, the author focuses her attention on cultivating contact with the higher realms by means of voice transmissions to the receptive human mind, and a great deal of the text lays the groundwork for facilitating that contact. Varioius kinds of mental and physical purification as well as learning basic meditation skills must precede the novice's first attempts to achieve the desired communion with the spirits of light.
Tuella's beliefs about just who those spirits of light really are runs the gamut from the kindly Space Brothers first popularized by George Adamski and others in the 1950s to the Heavenly messengers of a brand of Gnostic Christianity that also takes in the writings of the Apostle Paul, the Psalms of the Old Testament and the Book of Revelation. There is a form of Christ himself present in all of us, Tuella preaches, and learning to recognize that core of goodness in ourselves and every other individual is a crucial step on the Heavenly Path.
It is an accepted fact of of UFO abduction research that telepathy is nearly always utilized in the typical abduction scenario. The aliens not only communicate telepathically with the abductee, theya also seem able to read even the most hidden parts of the human mind with complete ease. In that sense, "Cosmic Telepathy" may function as a kind of "Contactee's Handbook," spelling out as plainly as possible the dynamics of telepathic contact and the skills one must learn in order to get the most out of the experience. There are even a few diagrams of the human brain that seek to explain just what parts of the brain are activated in the various stages of receptiveness to the cosmic messages that the typical adept will go through.
Tuella repeatedly cautions that the beginner to be patient in follwing the meditation and listening techniques she details. The ultimate goal is to hear the voices of the aforementioned benevolent spirits of light and thereby join a team of human Light Workers laboring hand-in-hand to establish Christ's kingdom of heaven on Earth. One wonders however whether those voices are the kind that never shut up and leave one wandering the street pushing a shopping cart? Not so, counters Tuella. She includes some spiritual exercises designed to keep the practitioner from the dark influences of evil spirits and even from fellow mortals who are overwhelmed by infectious, negative emotions.
The final chapter of Tuella's "Cosmic Telepathy" is an inspiring pep talk about walking in spiritual victory that even the most jaded reader of New Age literature will find uplifting and encouraging. Learning to literally "hear" the small, still voice of cosmic common sense and wisdom is a skill that anyone would find useful--given that they are opened up to it in the right way and actually able to master it in practical terms. If Tuella manages to lead the reader to even a small portion of that bliss and peace she says is available to all, then "Cosmic Telepathy" is more than worth its purchase price and the time spent in reading it.

Wonderful!Review Date: 2007-09-20
I have several crystal books and I have to say I am most happy I found this book! I ordered it, along with the new edition of The Book Of Stones and have absolutely fell in love. For the size of this book it has a great amount of information, uses, and pictures of crystals and stones.
I am very pleased about the pictures; the pictures are somewhat small, but they are nice up-close and clear shots. There is not an example of both the natural and polished stones for each one, but the picture quality is excellent.
The book also talks about choosing a pendulum, cleansing stones/crystals, choosing the stones/crystals, and several other topics.
Chaper 4 is what I say is one of the best features about this book. It talks about crystal remedies; first it lists different physical ailments and the stones/crystals that would be helpful. Next is remedies for emotional ailments, examples of them and stones/crystals that would be helpful to them. Last there is a section for spiritual enhancement; it lists examples and what stones/crystals would be most helpful to you in regards to it.
Out of the other crystal books I have that list remedies, I really love how this book was formatted. Having an entire chapter deticated to various remedies is fantastic. It was easy to read though and also just as easy to find what I was looking for.
I really recommend this book and I honestly wish I had found it a lot sooner. If I had found this book right away, I have about two or three other crystal books I wouldn't have purchased!

She goes into some simple exercises to "develop" intuition, but most are simply creative exercises, or variations of simple meditation. Nonetheless, for someone with casual interest in these subjects, this is a great read. But, if you're very studious in topics such as: intuition, meditation, transpersonal experience, spirituality, philosophy, you may be better off getting a more thorough and definitive book.
