The title catches your eye, but Mia Dolan's lifelong struggles against poverty, abusive men, and family losses makes an interesting memoir even if the psychic parts were omitted. It details her efforts to survive verbal and physical abuse and to make a life for herself and her children and to overcome the circumstances and poor choices that try to drag her down.
Adding another dimension to this, is the awakening of her "gift" which enables her to help others. For those skeptical of anything they cannot see for themselves, this may seem too airy-fairy. For those with open minds, it's fascinating to see the development of Mia's psychic skills.
This book was published in Britain under the title, The Gift.

Interesting psychic awakening.

I read this book in a day. It was that absorbing. I was touched by Mia's challenges and impressed by her desire to help others. The stories of her awakening psychic life were fascinating and told in a way that was quite down to earth. I truly enjoyed this book.

This book called out to me at the library yesterday and I picked it up, not even knowing whether it was fiction or non-fiction, what it was about even. At home, I began reading it after lunch and ignored everything I had to do around the house as I turned page after page, totally enthralled by Mia's world. I ended up staying up until midnight to finish this wonderful book and wishing I had another book to start immediately! It was fantastic.

This book is great. its helpping you to discover how to reprogram you brain in a possitive way. it teaches you things that people also can learn from intuition classes, but this book makes it less expensive to learn. I recommend this book for all people that would like to know their intuition.

An Outstanding Investment in Your Future

Review Date: 2006-05-26
One of the most valuable things that you can do for yourself is to learn to develop your intuition, which helps you gain access your Overself and its infinite repository of information. There are clearly many types of intuition: from simple instincts, originating in your physical body and your brain, to insights that seem to come from a different dimension of existence.

I have written a great deal about the value and importance of improving your intuition and learning how to use objective measures to monitor the accuracy of your insights. In my own print and eBooks I have presented many exercises and experiments that have helped thousands of people around the world. My challenge in the future will be to say something new or fresh that isn't already covered in this fine book! I had somehow missed this work until quite recently.

I have not met Nancy but I hope that I shall: her book is well written, short and to the point. Many of the exercises were taught to me as a youngster, and I have not seen then elsewhere. I shall be interested to learn where she found them or whether her own intuition guided her to them.

I particularly like that she makes the important point that intuition is a valuable source of information, but it is meant to enhance logical and rational thinking, not replace it. The great scientists who discovered relativity, quantum mechanics and the structure of benzene all had intuitive insights, but then spent weeks, months and years putting them into the language of mathematics and science. So it should be when we use intuition in our daily lives: use it as an internal guidance system, but use your mind to work out how to get to where you are supposed to. I have actually known people who would not eat until their intuition told them what to order.

The one extra small point is this. Books about intuition can guide you a long way, but it is also true that personal teachers can often wake you up to intuition extraordinarily quickly. So use and learn from this book, but if you get the opportunity to spend even a little time with a good teacher, that may well enhance and amplify what Nancy teaches in this excellent book.

Highly recommended.

Excellent book!

In "The Limits of Influence," Dr. Braude presents compelling examples and arguments to support not only the validity of non-experimental psi evidence, but also its potential value as the basis for development of a theoretical framework for psychokinesis. He includes fascinating accounts of mediums at work and discusses apparitions, telepathy, ESP, precognition, and other potential psi phenomena. I found the chapter on the "super psi" hypothesis amazing. Dr. Braude examines the concept in depth and suggests that psi might play a subtle and pervasive role in our everyday lives and be a reason for such things as coincidences or why some people are luckier, healthier, etc., than others. A solid 5 star reading experience

Any fan of Edgar Cayce and his psychic readings will want to read this book which describes events that occurred in the more significant incarnations of this very unusual individual.

The value of this book is not only the descriptions of each of Cayce's past life separately but also how his past lives affected his later incarnations.

Many examples are provided of how choices (both positive and negative) made in one life caused effects in a future life. This is called the law of kharma.

I doubt if there's any other source of information available that can provide this type of insight into the process of reincarnation. For most of us this type of information remains mainly at the subconscious level while we travel through our earthly lives.

This is one of Edgar Cayce's greatest legacies.

There's also a tremendous amount of other information besides Cayce's experiences in this earthly realm. Cayce interacted with incarnations of the Christ spirit in some of his past lives as well as with Abraham in the bible and other famous historical figures.

The sceptic will find it hard to believe that one person would have had experiences involving so many significant historical events and so many historical figures. However the reason for this is that Cayce himself is an historical figure and he is a very spiritually oriented person. Often when people like this are reincarnated they reach a level of fame and recognition and they share experiences with similar types of souls.

Not all of Cayce's past life experiences were positive by the way. He was the one who got tricked into letting the Greeks bring the Trojan horse into Troy and then he committed suicide. He hit rock bottom during his two incarnations as the soldier of fortune John Bainbridge, going so far as to use his psychic powers to make money gambling.

At times the Edgar Cayce soul entity had problems in two areas which are problematic for many people; sexuality and a feeling of racial superiority. As the law of kharma says must happen he experienced the negative effects of these things himself in the most heart breaking and brutal ways. Unfortunately the mistakes we make often affect not only ourselves but those we are closest to.

The author indicates that Cayce gave specific dates for the second coming of Christ and Cayce's next incarnation. The year for both of these events is given as 1998.

Since this year has already passed the questions are:

1) have these things happened but we don't realize it yet ?

2) did Cayce really say '98 (as he sometimes did) and mean for example some other year ending in '98' such as 2098 or even 3098 ? (this seems doubtful because the author is an expert on the Cayce readings.)

3) did Cayce really mean 1998 but some other misunderstandings occurred when the readings were recorded or interpreted ?

4) was Cayce wrong about the year for these events ? since he was right very often this is an interersting question.

I don't know the answers to these questions. I did order a book entitled 'Edgar Cayce In Context' which may help with putting Cayce's psychic prophecies into perspective. I haven't received or read this book yet.

I had never heard of this book and have followed Edgar Cayce and the ARE for 30 years. I just found a used copy of the original version, "Many Happy Returns" on Amazon.com, ordered it, and read it in record time. It is a fabulous book!! I have been exposed to most of the information in some form or another but never had Cayce's lives put in chronological order with explanations and overlapping karmic implications and indications. W. A. Church is a wonderful writer and I couldn't put the book down.
If you get this book for your personal library it will be on of your favorites!

The authors have a wonderful gift for connecting the mystical to the everyday. They also prove very conclusively that spirituality and abundance are not mutually exclusive, and that money is a form of energy that can be invoked, directed and amplified. The technique that they teach here is built around the sign of increase. Further magical techniques and exercises include the rituals of the black mirror, getting help from your subconscious, reading your dreams and the fivefold Prana sequence for increasing psychic energy. The style is simple and engaging, making for reading enjoyment and stimulating the reader to go through with the interesting exercises. This is an excellent manual on achieving personal prosperity, probably one of the best. The book includes an illustration of the Sign of Increase, a catalog of dream symbols and an index to the practices of creative money-making. It will amply reward the reader if you put the exercises and techniques into practice.

First Time Edgar Cayce Reader

This book is extraordinary and superbly written. As a first time reader of the life of Edgar Cayce, I think I picked the right First Time book. It certainly helps me better understand the mystery behind the man, a simple man, I might add, not unlike any of the rest of us and who, I believe, was uncomfortable and uneasy with this very mysterious and inconceivable ability. For this reason, I advise other readers to be conservative about their purchases of books about Cayce. There are many people today no different at all than during Edgar's own lifetime: always seeking to profit from someone else's gifts rather than appreciating the man's torment and altruistic nature. He must have been a truly special individual to those who knew and loved him.

This is a wonderful autobiography pieced together from Cayce's own writing over the years. A. Robert Smith, who compiled and edited the material, has done an excellent job of assembling and organizing the diverse materials from the Cayce files.

It is a book that should be read by everyone, especially those who have heard of Edgar Cayce but are unfamiliar with the man and his work. He gave thousands of psychic readings for others--but did not operate a psychic "hotline" and never charged anyone for a reading. His is a story of faith in action.

I have been reading about Edgar Cayce for years, but this is the only book that has allowed me a very personal view of the Sleeping Prophet. It allows deeper insights into the man himself, from his own point of view. The book documents the troubles he overcame to become one of the world's most loved prophets.

Memoirs Of A Psychic Spy: The Remarkable Life Of U.S. Government Remote Viewer 001 tells of the first military recruit for the government to use his abilities as a 'psychic spy' during the Cold War and beyond, following nearly twenty years of psychic spying and reissuing the classic 2002 title The Stargate Chronicles in paper. His predictions and observations were startlingly accurate and his intelligence-gathering results included pinpointing the underground facility used to store Soviet missiles during the Cold War. While the Stargate project was shut down and labeled a failure, it's interesting to note that forty percent of its documents are still classified.

Dr. & Mrs. Gentry have condensed years of research and development into a concise methodology that even beginners can follow. I have used his methods for the past five years--they are failsafe. Especially useful is his method for energizing compatibility between two or more people. I have used his beacon method to bring to my practice just the right clientele whom I can help, are interested in my work, can benefit from it, can pay for it and who can refer other clients to me. His life story is very interesting. Dr. & Mrs. Gentry continue to do research. The key to do what they do is to practice, practice, practice! Mental healing takes energy and preciseness, conviction and intention. As he teaches, most of us spend too much time being angry--we waste vital energy. We need to take the energy we conjure up when angry & turn it and ourselves into positive energy to heal. Angry energy might as well be a shot gun. Healing energy is the miracle! It's free and abundant--everyone can manifest it.

A truly inspiring story of personal triumph.

This book was a great read and really makes me believe Marilyn Monroe was murdered. The book takes you into Marilyn's home to experience the last hours of her life. Through the help of psychics you learn how Marilyn was murdered in a great cover up. This great cover up involves president JFK, attorney general RFK, FBI and Chicago mafia Boss Giancana. It was really sad to read how Marilyn was killed. I don't think Marilyn knew she was in over her head angering some very powerful men. I believe this shows in this book. Marilyn was a woman in love with a President who just used her for a fling. When Marilyn became too attached to JFK and threatened to tell all she was murdered. The way Marilyn was murdered in this book is very believable. There would be no easy way to trace the murder evidence. I would like to see Marilyn's body exhumed so that detectives can extract the murder evidence from Marilyn's hair. We now have the technology to find how Marilyn died and the only way to find out is to study Marilyn's hair. Marilyn didn't commit suicide she was murdered, which truly shows in this great book. Anyone who has read Marilyn's book "Her Life In Her Own Words" knows Marilyn wanted to live. Marilyn talked about wanting children and looking forward to her life. Why would Marilyn kill herself? I want to see Marilyn's name cleared so she can finally rest in peace. Hopefully someone will start a new investigation into who killed Marilyn Monroe.
Overall the Murder of Marilyn book is a great book and a must read for Marilyn Monroe fans.

Amazing!

The honesty and sincerity with which this book was written is truly captivating. What I find most interesting are the facts that have come out about Marilyn's demise that these authors found out on their own years earlier.

I have heard these authors had a second book near publication but it got withheld because they were too close to revealing the truth about other questionable deaths.

THE MURDER OF MARILYN MONROE
Helpful Votes: 8 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2002-01-31
This is one book that really surpasses all when the reader finishes it. It is written through the eyes of four psychics who were "allegedly" transported back in time to August 4th and 5th 1962, the scene of the Monroe murder. The book's Forward and Preface gives the reader an informative overview in the world
of the psychics. It delves into the world of the "occult" and explains the differences between those who practice the so-called "black arts" "channeling with the "demons" (devil),
as opposed to using the practice of "channeling" friendlier "spirits. The controversial use of the "ouja"
board and meditation through "seances" are used by the
authors in this book to summon the "spirit" of a woman
who lived much earlier than "Miss Monroe" in California
who inturn was in contact with her spirit as well as
Mr. Peter Lawfords' spirit. The reader will also come
in contact through the "psychics" Monroe's former vocal instructor while she was still a struggling starlet;
"Fred Karger". They ("psychics"), also come in contact
with Monroe's mother Grace, and the spirits of JFK and RFK. Again, this book is extremely different in its content
(subject matter) than any other book that I have read
on Monroe and should be viewed in an "objective" fashion.
I myself, while reading this book was surprised,
intrigued and saddened at the reinactment of the
Monroe murder as it was told by the "spirit" of
Marilyn Monroe. What I found most interesting was that
the psychics were instructed by the "spirit" and
supernatural visions to draw the would be ("suspects")
assasins and later show them to Marilyn Monroe's spirit
for her to identify and verify that they were the ones
who killed her. As I mentioned earlier, this is a very
unique book that anyone who reads this must have an
objective viewpoint on what the subject matter is;
that is the use of "channeling" spirits and the use of the "Ouja" board.
...
I don't know how many of these scenarios through the
eyes of these psychics were true, but, the reader will
make his/her conclusions as to its'credibility.
Interestingly, Monroe's spirit was satisfied as to how the "psychics" conducted its'investigative findings and
urged them to do what ever possible to "re-open" the
MM Murder Case. Monroe's spirit was extremely troubled
because people the world over believed she died of a "drug" overdose and not by a premeditated murder scheme contrived
by powerful people she was in contact with. In closing,
whether you will believe this book to contain the slightest amount of credibility is up to the reader. For those conspiratorialists of wrong doings such as crimes and
murders of famous celebrities may find this book
entertaining as well as thought provoking.
I for one thought so!

For fifteen years, "A Passion for this Earth," by Valerie Andrews, has been
high on the list of books I have recommended to my creative writing and
mythology students. Ms. Andrews writes in the passionate tradition of Rachel Carson, Thomas Berry, and Annie Dillard. I find her book to be a resounding call for a "new story, a new mythology" that reconciles women and men with the earth. To my lights, Ms. Andrews' prose is stunningly beautiful, and her conviction about the role of passionate storytelling, in an era marked by irony and cynicism, is a balm for the soul. -- Phil Cousineau, author of "The Art of Pilgrimage"

What an odd comment from Library Journal! Its sister publication, Publisher's Weekly, got it right. The book is a good companion for those of us who are tying to live a more balanced life (inner and outer), in tune with nature, better balancing feminine and masculine. As to the particulars in the Library Journal review, nowhere does Andrews say that the term childbearing has to do with bears (Was that in another book?). Many writiers, including Riane Eisler have since pointed out that any society which values the gifts and accomplishments of one sex over the other is one-sided. The early chapters of Passion read a bit like Garrison Keillor on the importance of a sense of place and are friendly reminders of what us baby boomers lost as we saw our hometowns invaded by malls and freeways. But Andrews also takes us on a literary jaunt, showing how our inner lives have changed as we altered our relation to the land. She cites the Arthurian legend of Dame Ragnell; the 19th century playwright Von Kleist on the tangle between the Amazon heroine, Penthesilea and the Greek warrior Achilles; Tolstoy's War and Peace; and Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbevilles. In fact, Passion has been used in college level courses that focus on eco-spirituality.

Andrews edited "Dream of the Earth," Thomas Berry's classic on Deep Ecology, and she is familiar with scholarly sources, but her writing is personal and immediate, and she often gives us examples from her life. It's a book I've had on my bedside table and found to be like an ongoing dialogue with a faithful, stimulating friend. The writing is personal and provocative and makes us think about our values and our chosen way of life.

Andrews received glowing reviews from the Jungian community for this book. Marion Woodman called it a courageous work, best selling author Jean Shinoda Bolen said this is a powerful and poignant meditation on our need for a sense of place in a time when most people experience some form of uprootedness. As a pastor, I know how much people are in need of reorientation, and how our modern mobility often leaves people cut adrift, without a sense of community, without a deep connection to a certain place. In my own work, I am greatly concerned with the balance of masculine and feminine- and a divine model for creation that draws equally on the gifts of both ways of being in the world. This book has much to say about the way and individual can draw on each.

Robert Johnson, another best-selling Jungian analysis says, "I have a consuming hunger for a new mythology that will be loyal to the past but rises above the one-sided patriarchy that has occupied humanity for several millenia. Valerie Andrews writes with the grace and insight on this subject that only a woman could provide. It is good to hear a reconciling female voice."

The best part of this book is the author's even handedness when describing relations between men and women, and our common goal: to serve the life force and reconcile ourselves with our own internal opposites. The essays are really about our own inner work as much as they are about the broader canvas of nature, and the workings of the living world. I've also found the films the author cites useful in my own educational work.
