I really don't understand the reference some have made to the BOCs and competitive carriers and wish someone would explain it to me. What does it have to do with the FCC's treatment of telecom giants? Otherwise, a classic.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is currently doing breast MRI or interesting in starting. The first several chapters are directed toward understanding the physics behind breast MR and are easy to understand even by a non-physicist. The second half of the book turns toward protocols, safety and optimizing breast MRI techniques. The book is clearly written and has changed my clinical practice. I am now performing studies that use magnet time more efficiently and with improved image quality. This book is valuable to both the beginner and the experienced breast imager. It is particularly helpful to radiologists who want to improve their breast MRI protocols. I also recommend this book to any technologist who wants to know more about breast MRI.

The Original "Libber"?

Kierra was on the cutting edge at a time when being on the cutting edge may not be in her best interest. But Kierra could care less about traditional male/female rolls. Keen observation of her environment told her things could be improved and she was not about to keep it to herself. Breaching the male dominated task of hunting would not be easy, but something had to be done.

Killing for food was necessary in Kierra's era, but the present methods-although successful most of the time-were inefficient and unnecessarily cruel. A new tool to harvest the beasts of the field was needed and Kierra had ideas.

The radical new hunting tool Kierra gleaned from elements in everyday caveman life was not received well by her male counterparts, but nothing succeeds like success, and Kierra is the hero of the day. Her new invention would be used from that day forth.

The author has written a story that very well could be true. Historically correct or not, I think you will find "The Caveman (er, Cavewoman) Inventor, the Bow and Arrow - Patents Pending" an entertaining read, as I did. Nice job, Mr. Berry.

A must have for all raters and senior raters
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 8 total.

This book is just as the title implies, a complete guide to writing good NCO-ERs. It goes through all the sections in an easy to understand step by step format. It also give suggestions for positive and negative bullet comments that you can either use straight from the book or simply use for brainstorming your own comments. Compared to many of the other NCOER help books this is the best one I have come across and is well worth the money.

Excellent practical implementation of databases
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-23
This is an excellent book for learning and referencing database usage. It has a wide breath of knowledge covering client server, transactions, SQL, physical and logical database design. There are numerous practical examples for implementing SQL for a large variety of applications. I thoroughly recommend for anyone learning databases for the first time as well as seasoned professionals who need an SQL reference. This book also servers as an excellent introduction to the more theoretical book Fundamentals of Database Systems.

Er war mein Chef: Aus dem Nachlass der Sekretarin von Adolf Hitler (German Edition)

Hitler's secretary tells all (well, almost all)
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2004-04-12
Christa Schroeder worked for Hitler from 1932 until his death. She was not as close to him as Dara or even Traudl Junge, and her big mouth got her into some trouble sometimes with Hitler. But she knew enough to produce an extremely interested, penetrating look at the inner Hitler. It's too bad that Christa gets so much wrong about Hitler's private life. For some laughably inexplicable reason, she contends Hitler never had sex after 1919 and never even consummated his relationship with long-time mistress Eva Braun. Forgive me while I laugh for the next three days. Why she has this blind spot is unknowable, especially since she wrote differently in the Zoeller 1948 book.

Aside from that, the book is riveting. Schroeder dishes dirt on all the major players in Hitler's entourage, with scathing indictments about Goebbels and Himmler, and some praise for Goering and vo Ribbentrop. If you're seriously interested in Hitler, this is required reading.

The end of this story lies shrouded in death
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-09-08
Haim Be'er's Feathers is a unique novel, at turns frolicking and grim. Feathers plays with the entire notion of the Zionist enterprise in its utopian guise, but does so covertly, by taking on other, equally as unsuccessfully utopian schemes and gestures. Some of these are little known, like the Popper-Lynkeus dietary cult, while others need no introduction, such as Esperanto and Communism. All the while Be'er betrays his deep and convoluted knowledge of ultra-orthodox religious Judaism. The search for the biblical "true" blue dye and the actual willow used in the hadass, the myrtle tree at Sukkoth, take on an equally utopian flavor, as characters try to bring the ideal into the real with crushing results. All the while these actions are framed by the Yom Kippur War, Israel's most ego shattering conflict. For humans, there is probably no great source of disillusionment than trying to enact our dreams in the real world. Feathers is a case study in this exercise.
