Very good research on a much neglected subjectR.S. Christie exposes a complicated network of interdependencies, relationships and problems in a seemingly narrow area of government. Yet, this work can be used as a model for anyone interested in the old "Where does the money go to?" question in the area of Government Science. Christie's writing is fluent and crystal-clear and she clearly has a good grasp of the inner workings of the Austin government. The US has long been debating issue regarding public spending in the area of Health Care. This work is an example of how some basic problems can be unlocked. I'd call it "A Barefoot Model for Problems in Government Spending". We usually talk of "taxpayers' money" - and this scientific work does an important service to those of us who wonder why red tape does seem to get worse every year. Highly specialized, yes, but recommended without doubt.

A lively and fun collection of poetry for kids!Christmas With Alice-Ems: Mathematically Possible Poems is a lively and fun collection of Elizabeth Elder's poetry for kids and would grace any family, school, or community library collection. Considering Louis: Considering Louis, it isn't enough/to think of his stuffing as nothing but fluff./A rabbit like Louis is more than he seems./A rabbit like Louis has wonders and dreams./The wonders are wound in the pink of his toes/and the pucker of whiskers and tuck of his nose./The wonders are mysteries he may wish to keep,/or secrets he only relates in his sleep./A rabbit like Louis is clearly more/than a fuzziness left in a heap on the floor./With Louis there's fluff and there's something else too./I cannot begin to describe it. Can you?

The reference book in mobile messaging technologiesDon't know what mobile messaging is about ? Read the first chapter and you will feel more comfortable about it ! You're an engineer in mobile communications but you lack expertise in EMS and MMS ? Go for this book !
To put it shortly, Le Bodic's book is first an excellent introduction to mobile messaging and then turns into a great reference manual for all those who work in this promising field. It is a must have !
I particularly liked the way he turned the boring "standardization" stuff into clear figures and tables. Le Bodic made 3GPP litterature accessible and that was quite a challenge !!

Mosby Emergency Dictionary ReviewThe Mosby Emergency Dictionary has proven to be an excellent resource during my Paramedic studies. I recommend the Dictionary as a requirement if you are going through a Paramedic Class. My class used the Mosby Paramedic Textbook, but most of the terminology was not in the glossary. The Emergency Dictionary was necessary to keep all of the terminology straight in my head during my studies. It also includes some good reference materials in the last few sections, including a Pharmacology guide.

Great TextAs I scrambled to meet the direction of my CEO to get our disaster plan updated in order to deal with the pressing threat of terrorism it was recommended to get this text by a peer. After reading this book, I can say without a doubt, that it is one of finest disaster works I have ever been exposed. It has taken complex issues and presented them in a real world method that makes comprehension and application quite easy. Frankly this is a must have reference for emergency service and management personnel in public and private sectors. Outstanding work!
Outstanding text with real world insightThis text is perhaps one of the finest works on the Incident Management System and mass casualty response. Written in "Plain English" the authors have taken great steps to keep the confusion to a minimum while delivering technical and operational accuracy. This is a great text for use in all disaster training programs. The chapters are designed to follow the flow of managing an incident with critical factors boxes built into each assisting you to reinforce important points with your class. Additionally, each chapter has lesson objectives and end questions to further reinforce the premises espoused. The final component that is worthy of note is sample templates for IMS implementation and "real incident" critiques by the Incident Commanders. Incidents such as the hurricanes, world trade center bombing, Alabame train wreck and other professionally drive the point of IMS use home.
OUTSTANDING BOOKThis is a GREAT book. The authors have done an outstanding job bridging the EMS and medical aspects of disaster management with the IMS system. Surely a must include text in any disaster training program
There are eight chapters. Chapter 1 provides a detailed overview of EMS and ISO 14001. Chapter 2 provides an overview of P2. Of particular interest in this chapter is a breakdown of the costs associated with environmental compliance. The authors make a good point with regard to how traditional approaches tend to heavily discount so-called soft-costs, thereby opening the door for future and long-term liabilities. Chapter 3 discusses the authors' integrated EMS/P2 model program. This chapter sets the stage for the balance of the book and is worth a careful reading. Chapter 4 ' titled Getting Started, describes for the reader innovative approaches to establishing the entire P2/EMS program. Chapter 5 covers pre-planning activities. Chapter 6 covers planning priority environmental management initiatives. Chapter 7 covers planning pollution prevention initiatives and is an exceptionally well written chapter providing good information on life cycle costing and introducing unique concepts like P2 investment portfolios. Chapter 8 wraps up the volume by focusing on monitoring and the importance of top management review, and how to implement environmental management initiatives.
The book includes two in-depth case studies, reviews of six types of environmental management initiatives, has a glossary of EMS and P2 terms, photographs, diagrams, charts and calculations, and end-of-chapter summaries. It also includes an examination of the relationships between activities in each phase and the requirements of ISO14001 and how a company would fulfill ISO 14001 certification requirements through an integrated EMS/P2 approach.
The book is a great volume for senior managers, EH&S personnel, compliance officers, and engineers (especially because of the life cycle costing and risk assessment principles laced throughout the book). The authors are highly knowledgeable about the subject and their bios support a large international experience in applying the principles and practices presented in this volume. Dr. Cheremisinoff in particular is a well-known chemical engineer that has contributed many books and articles on pollution prevention to the industrial press.
