I send all my customers who don't qualify for a car loan. I have seen some amazing results from these guys in a short amount of time. They are affordable to the kind of customers who would need credit repair in the first place, they charge less than $500 and will get results. Just a heads up from a Sales Manager of a New Car dealership.

I think this book has good information for those who are just learning about their credit scores and why they're so important. It's easy to read and understand.

Like several other's, I already have a good score and was hoping to find some suggestions on how to improve/tweek my score even higher. I was dissappointed not to find anything on that topic.

All in all, it will be very helpful for beginners.

You literally can't afford to ignore your credit record. Every negative mark or mistake on your credit history can cost you big bucks: Over the course of a lifetime, a person with merely average credit will pay thousands more for a mortgage, car loan or credit cards than one with good credit. However, if you don't know the difference between FICO and FICA, can't understand why you have a 23.5% interest rate on your charge card, and were shocked when your car insurance payments went up even though you weren't in an accident, don't despair. Liz Pulliam Weston explains it all to you. Her book is brimming with accessible, vital information, and getAbstract believes that it will save you money, whether you're just beginning to learn about personal credit or you're an experienced, savvy consumer. And for that she deserves a lot of credit.

I bought a few name books from Amazon, this one being by far the best. All names imaginable are in here, even names that would be considered American Ghetto names that I thought were made up have Biblical roots. Many Asian (Japan, China, etc) as well as Mid Eastern names.

Be careful, once you open this book, it's nearly impossible to put it down!

In the Company of Ogres
By A. Lee Martinez

"Ned had learned there are worse things than dying. Dying over and over again."

So begins an uproarious comic fantasy that, like so many others of its genre, tosses up pretty much every element a serious fantasy can have. In three hundred pages, Martinez dumps Sword of Shannara, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Dragonriders of Pern, Dune, Star Wars and all types of Greek and Nordic mythology more times than you can count.

However, unlike many spoof novels, Company of Ogres has an actual sense of depth and meaning that goes beyond the humor. The novel is about a man named Never Dead Ned, a nickname forged for him by the fact that, according to folklore, he cannot die. The truth is quite the opposite; he dies quite a bit (at the beginning of the novel Ned has died forty-nine times). He just has the tendency to not stay dead. Unfortunately for him, every time he dies he takes a reminder from the injury that kills him (for instance, he has had his arm chopped off and now it has a mind of its own, and he has been scarred across the face, and now has only one eye). He is sick of this, and is trying to stay alive and safe for the remainder of his years until he dies of old age (which he hopes he will not return from).

After sustaining a job at Accounting for an army entitled the Legion, and doing quite a good job of it, he is sent to go command a section of the Legion called Ogre Company. Ogre Company is usually your "last stop on the way out of the Legion." It is home to the outcasts of the Legion, plus a bunch of ogres. The last ten or so commanders had been strangely disappearing and never being heard from again, and the Legion figured why not place a man who can't die in charge...just in case the members of the company were killing the commanders.

The storyline is based off of romance. Two women in Ogre Company fall in love with Ned a few days after he arrives, dying a couple of times on his way. The two women are Regina, a normally angry Amazon warrior, who is part of the threesome of the highest ranked soldiers in OC (they argue frequently over who is the highest ranked), and Miriam, a siren who is called the "morale sergeant," who tries to keep the army in high spirits. However, another of the three highest ranked, a large ogre named Frank, is in love with Regina, but likes Ned. The third of the high ranks is Gabel, an orc who is suspiciously goblin-esque, who wants to see Ned gone.

However, when Ned finds out who he truly is, why he keeps being revived, and why he is being stalked by demons, all of that becomes small matter, and Ned has to make the decision between life and death, the decision that will affect the whole universe.

I thought this book was quite well written, with witty dialogue, and parts you can't help but laugh at. Martinez is talented, and I look forward to reading his other works. The way he weaves in little things is astoundingly subtle, but placed just at the right time for you to make a realization of his commentary, and laugh shamelessly.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to laugh.

I have read a few of A. Lee Martinez's works, this being my most recent and I was not disappointed. If you like the breed of humor that Douglas Adams and Neil Gaiman follow, you will probably enjoy this writer as well. This particular book highlights the sort of "ugly is the new pretty" and "gross and awkward are kind of funny" randomness that I love. The protagonist is extremely likable, the plot is full of adventure and the end is successful and satisfying. Everything a good book should be :)

I really enjoyed this one. There's just something really amusing about a man who can get killed in a variety of ways and is never truly dead. He's just mostly dead.

A. Lee Martinez has a great sense of humor. This is a fun story packed with irrevant digs at his own hero and some of life's craziest moments. For instance, the devil runs the tax collection business which ensues a whole tortuous scene much like how I felt when I needed to call the IRS last year over a few dollars. If you want just a quick lark while you need to wait at the airport or for your child to get out of ballet or karate-- this is a good bet.

Witty and well-written

A. Lee Martinez is one of my favorite new authors. His writing style is pitch-perfect: he creates strong, memorable characters; he describes scenes and action perfectly without getting bogged down in extraneous details; and he knows how to tell a joke. IN THE COMPANY OF OGRES displays Martinez's talents to the fullest.

In OGRES, an accountant named Never Dead Ned is put in charge of a military company of supernatural misfits. It's a little bit like "Bad News Bears" set in Middle-earth. What makes this book work so well is Martinez's treatment of the fantasy genre and the "fish out of water" cliche. He brings a fresh perspective to everything he touches, and the result is a hilarious, well-written, and even heart-warming novel.

I laughed out loud many times while reading OGRES - it was a book I couldn't put down. I highly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Terry Pratchett, Peter S. Beagle, and similar authors. I also recommend it to anyone who appreciates good humor and a great writing style. I can't rave enough about this book!

I have always been a fan of Catherine Coulter, Johanna Lindsey and last but not least Virginia Henley, and having read all of their historical romances and running out of new and interesting authors, it is refreshing to find an author who has the same kind of passion for writing as my favorites.
Nicole Jordan incites a response from the reader and I found that I couldn't put the book down. I fell asleep reading The Prince of Pleasure and woke up and picked up where I left off, because I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
Having said all that, yes, I like books with intrigue too, but not too much. This book really didn't need the whole bit about the assassin to pull you along, their antics were more than enough to keep me interested.
The hero was flawed but, he's supposed to be, and the heroine was defiant but helplessly submissive, but would not let body overly rule her head but her heart was no match for him. I am currently waiting for the new Virginia Henley novel, and The Prince of Pleasure has kept me thoroughly entertained. It also has led me to an author I hadn't had the pleasure to enjoy until now, an author who isn't afraid to burn the pages, as well as my imagination.

The best I have read of Jordan's books

But then, I haven't been that fond of her others. The Prince of Pleasure presents a deeper relationship and a more involved plot. Although Dare's rationale for his ultra hedonistic lifestyle seems stretched and Julienne's reasons for never revealing the truth about her past appears slight once her mother died, they are still more fully realized characters than I have previously encountered from Jordan's pen. Dare remains rather self-centered for much of the book, but he has a pleasing vulnerability. Julienne exhibits great inner strength.

The traitor plot is rather obvious in its intention to thrust these two people together, but it retains a sense of mystery and excitement. The book is sometimes slow, and as always, Jordan allows the sex scenes to dominate the narrative--but much less than usual in this effort, to great effect. Indeed, only toward the end does this penchant begin to annoy.

I had intended to avoid more of Jordan's books, but I already had this one from the library and decided to read it, frankly not expecting much. Nicole Jordan will never be at the top of my author's list, but at least I found this one to be better than the others I have read.

Another **winner** from Nicole Jordan, who over the past few months has completely won me over as a reader!!

I normally don't like rakes who are AS RAKISH, and outrageous, and daring , as 'Dare' North, Lord Wolverton, but Ms. Jordan has scored quite a coup... she's made me fall in love with this hero... .he is really quite tired of being a rake (he's still young, but nevertheless...). He 's only ever been in love once , seven years earlier, with the then 17-yr-old beauty Julienne Laurent, of noble French birth, but an emigre at age 4. She may as well be British ,
having lived there for most of her life, but ---this is 1807 , smack-dab in the middle of the Napoleonic/Peninsula Wars, and there's no real love lost between the English nobility and the French Royalists, who want a real king on the throne, not that upstart Corsican , Bonaparte; but MARRYING one of those emigres was quite another thing. Dare wanted to marry Julienne (he calls her his Jewel) 7 years back, despite his grandfather, then-Lord Wolverton; but the old man refuses, vehemently....
Dare still wants her, badly, anyway, he LOVES her... and she , him, but , because the grandfather will disown him if they wed, and because she cannot bear the thought of Dare resenting her for this later on, she breaks off their love in the only way she can think of (it's ingenious, I won't give it away), and Dare is CRUSHED. Her ruse worked, only too well... Dare leaves, vowing never to love again (and certainly not HER), and then the old man trashes Julienne's name in polite society, accusing her of being a traitor to Britain, of being in league with the Bonapartists...

It's a complex plot... and the subplot [I am often bored by subplots, but this is so well-written , so much research has been done for the sake of accuracy in the broader historical backdrop to the main story, that it's fascinating!!] ... the subplot is Dare's (and Lucian's , from DESIRE), and then Julienne's search for the evil Caliban, who may be about to assasinate the one person in Britain who can help convince the French to overthrow Bonaparte and keep him out, that is, Lord Castlereagh.... Julienne had become an actress in the years since the horrible break with Dare, and she is quite accomplished, although of course actresses were not allowed in the upper echelons, the best circles... not at all.

Dare sees her on stage after 7 years have passed; she is lovelier than ever at 24, and he is older too, but still young, and sick and tired of playing the rake. It's hard to make me believe men such as this are in earnest about really changing their ways, and Dare is INDEED outrageous in his 'pursuit' of Julienne.... the things he does and says are the stuff romantic/sensual dreams fantasies are made of!... but still, he loves her, and I believe it. I believe him. He has never stopped loving her, nor she, him, but the divide between them is a huge chasm now... I won't give the book away; there is still so much more in this tight, complex plot!

He is bent on revenge for what she did to him 7 years before, and she loves him madly but is very proud, as he is.
Their pride and mistrust must be overcome in order for any love to flourish between them again, and Ms. Jordan makes it FLOURISH, all right....
I was actually blushing in places, and loving every minute of it! NO ONE writes such torrid yet romantic and loving scenes as beautifully as Ms. Jordan. I have a few other fave authors, but her love scenes are to die for, the best.

How will Dare and his lovely Jewel come together again? How can their love ever be made alive again? How can they learn the truth about their deepest feelings of longing for one another?
Read it, and find out. It's GREAT!!!
Dare and Julienne are REAL people, with real feelings... and it shows on every delicious page.
Brava, Nicole Jordan!
I never re-read books unless it's worth my time, and I'm rereading this one , now... it's even better than the first time.
I love ALL the books in her 'Notorious' series, and her recent MASTER OF TEMPTATION is another killer....
have fun, dear readers!

Jeremy Adair North (Dare) is known as the Prince of Pleasure. 7 years ago, Dare lost his heart to the young Julienne Laurent, a french emigrée. He courted her during one summer of innocent love but was betrayed when he found her in the arms of another man. Julienne had pretended to betray Dare because his grandfather would have disowned him if Dare had married Julienne. So in order to forget Julienne, Dare has been living a life of debauchery taking his pleasures in carnal sins.

7 years later, Julienne has become a celebrated actress treading the London boards. Julienne and Dare's path cross again when Dare is employed to uncover a traitor, the notorious Lord Caliban. Dare thinks that Julienne may be involved with the Caliban and publicly announces that he will make Julienne his mistress. In return, Julienne wagers that she will bring Dare to his knees.

As Dare discovers that Julienne is indeed not in league with the Caliban, together they play a dangerous game of uncovering the true identity of the Caliban.

I didn't care much for the story about the Caliban but the love story between Dare and Julienne was engaging and the love scenes were so hot that the pages will burn your fingers. Be warned that the sex scenes were very graphic and may not be agreeable to all readers. Otherwise a rather good read.

Most books that deal with tales of the supernatural suffer from a similar affliction; that being poor writing. This is the first book of Rule's that I've read, and I'm not exactly "blown away" by her writing, but it does stand out from the pack. Other reviewers have mentioned that her mother was/ is a true-crime writer. Could that have something to do with her daughter's first chapter being all about crimes and their possible connection to haunts?

I enjoy reading ghost stories, particularly ones that claim to be true. I believe more than a few... but solid writing definatley sways my judgement because cheesy writing... ugh... I'll get off the writing subject.

ANYWAY, when I pick up a book of ghost stories I don't anticipate anything real deep; I read them for a light raed on a good night or a rainy day. I think you readers out there know what I'm talking about.

This book was well spent one cold fall afternoon in Pittsburgh. And because I was in Pittsburgh, it was raining. The atmosphere was right, and the stories good. The overall affect was pleasing. I recommend "When the Ghost Screams."

Leslie Rule has done it again. I have adored her books from the first one on ghosts that she has written. I eagerly look forward to each one she writes. She has a style that is informative yet readable. Some ghost books get bogged down on all the technical jargon and electronic toys the ghost hunters use. I'm pleased to see that Leslie does not do that. She gives us a history of the site where the haunting has taken place and the general population of the time. Her books make for a very interesting read even if you are a skeptic that doesn't believe in ghosts. I'm delighted to see that Leslie writes as well as her Mum Ann Rule.

This is a book I am sure I will read again and again over time. A look into many ghostly hauntings, and
a few possible answers. To me, the most entertaining ghost stories are the ones that I believe are likely
to be true. For me, I have seen a ghost once - the ghost of my grandmother after she passed away in our childhood home many years ago. The feeling I got was that she was watching me play - and did not want to be
seen - just watching. All I saw was her clearly was her foot turn the corner into the living room - when I went to
the next room - it was empty.

It is fascinating as you read of ghost stories - how some are terrifying, some are simply the ghost seeming to go
through the regular routine they remember so well.

This book is a must-read as far as I am concerned.

Our son is currently engaged in his college hunt. He's a fairly well qualified high school junior...top 10% of his class, varsity sports, Eagle Scout, outside job, etc. We thought this college thing would be a fairly easy process. WRONG!

We are so thankful to have discovered this book. Dr. Hernandez does a superb job of explaining the entire process of applying to a "highly selective" college or university. She provides a behind the scenes look at how a college application is screened, while providing many practical and insightful recommendations on completing the process. Had we not discovered this book I can assure you our son would have made some egregious errors when completing his applications.

To date we've visited Cornell, Duke, Wake Forest and UNC-Chapel Hill. Each of the college admissions lectures we received at these institutions validated the information in this book. It was as though Dr. Hernandez was prescient. If you've not already done so, I cannot encourage you enough to VISIT COLLEGES. Listen to their admissions presentations. Take their tours. Talk to their students. You'll learn a great deal that's not addressed in the U.S. News & World Report and Princeton Review college selection guides. And it's FUN!

Run, don't walk to purchase this publication. It's a quick read. Have a highlighter handy.

I also highly recommend "The Early Admissions Game" by Christopher Avery. It's imperative you understand the effect of "Early Decision" on the college acceptance process.

Good luck during your college hunt!

I used this book when helping me fill out my college application to Cornell University. Cornell recently just had their lowest admission year at 20%. I have only a 1280/2000 on the SAT (710M 570V) and got accepted.

I did everything the book asked me too. Highlighting my advantages and writing descriptions to EC's the exemplified leadership.

This is tailored to the Common Application. However it can definitely be applicable to all applications. I do credit this book with getting me into all the schools I applied to except one. This is the only book I used in the application process. I recommend it.

There are several really good golf books out there. But if I had to choose only one this would be it simply because it has all the instruction elements you need on which to build a solid swing and learn to play better golf. But more importantly is this that John Jacobs keeps it simple and to the point. Great book would recommend to any golfer especially those just starting out or struggling with consistency.

I first discovered this book in the early `90's, when I was just beginning in the game of golf. Applying the learnings from this book allowed me to cut 10 strokes off my game within 3 weeks. At that time, I had a handicap of about 30 - which quickly dropped to 20. Now, many years later, my handicap is 6.

I still use this guide on a regular basis. When my game encounters problems, I pull out the book to diagnose and solve them.

Over the years I have given copies of this book to more than 30 of my clients and friends - all who share my love of the game. Everyone who has received it shares my opinion of the usefulness of this book and says it has significantly helped their game.

There is no question that John Jacobs knows the golf swing and knows how to improve all aspects of your game. The book is written in an easy-to-understand fashion with excellent illustrations.

I truly enjoyed this book. The only reason it is not getting 5 stars is b/c I felt a litle misled by the synopsis on the back. I thought the entire book would be about wolves and Yellowstone. The book was about these topics but also much more about the author's relationships with her animals. As an animal lover, I really enjoyed these parts of the book. And as a married person without children, I can relate when she writes about people not treating pets as family or the lack of sensitivity towards animals (as opposed to humans).

I bought this book after visiting Yellowstone recently and it was a good follow-up to my trip. How could anyone not have been excited about the reintroduction of wolves into the park. What an amazing story.

This is an excellent book and has much to offer for nature /animal lovers, how difficult such a project is, to combat many opposing forces. It has a measure of spirituality, romance and animal nature.

Someone should ban this woman from ever using a simile or a metaphor again. At least she could refrain from using 3 or 4 of them in every sentence. I like wolves and from reading the back of the book it sounded interesting. I wish that I would have read the first chapter before buying this book. It might have some decent imformation in it, but I just about threw up from trying to get past the first chapter.

Not so much about Wolves

I bought the book thinking it was about wolves and yellow stone-what the book described on the back. But in short it seemed that the majority was an auto-biography about woman who loved wolves. Other than that the book was good but I wish it had more stuff about the actual subject.

I cannot express in words how much I loved this book. It is more in my heart than words on a page. I felt uplifted at times and horribly saddened at other times. I cried out loud and smiled big smiles when a part of the book touched me. Rene had many, many wonderful experiences and shared her life with so many wonderful people and animals. I could not put the book down. I had bought this book for my Daughter as a Christmas gift. She is studying to be a wildlife bilogist and her passion is the wolf. Ashley (my daughter) reminds me so much of Rene that it scares me. Her passion to fight for the wolf is exactly what I wish for my daughter. I recomend this book to anyone who loves wildlife and who wants to fight for their rights. Rene is an asset to the world of wildlife and should be commended on such honorable work. Great book! Buy it! together we can all make a difference!

This book was used for a health assessment course. It is thorough, going through each system and how to systematically assess the patient. It includes information on infants, children, pregnant women and older adults for each system. Many color pictures aid to the assessment.

I have this and the large hardcover textbook. This pocket version is great and fits nicely into my coat pocket when I am in clinic. Although it's not as comprehensive as the big Mosby's, it's definitely handy.

The best RPG ever!

D&D 4e may get all the attention, but Alternity is a superior system. This GM guide gives you the basics you need to do starships combat and build a universe. Not bad for something under $20! ;-)
This flexible, intuitive system only died because the Star Wars RPG replaced it. Star Wars has the brand, but its RPG system is inferior to Alternity. Alternity's way of handling hit points and damage is far more realistic. Same goes for Modern d20, although poor replacement to Alternity.
Thanks to Amazon, you can get all the Alternity books today for cheap and play away!

Fan of this old series and was tired of the old d20 rules. These rules seem more "realistic".

As a veteran gamer who probably has more gaming material than should be healthy, I'm pleased to see TSR introduce the very promising Alternity game. This book is for gamemasters who wish to run an Alternity game and is the companion volume to the Alternity Players Handbook.

The rules are explained simply and concisely with all the tables and charts well organized and easy to find. More importantly, unlike much of the game products out there, this book is vividly written with inspiration and flair, bringing alive the technology, citizens, and cultures of the setting. All this is finished off by quality art as well. This terrific book prompted me to add the Alternity game to my gaming cabinet. If I can find any fault at all, it is that some sections like equipment and starships are a little brief - I suppose the publishers wanted to leave room for future supplements (what else is new?). A fine effort, nonetheless.

The Alternity Game is Very Good

So why only three stars, well first let me say that the rules and mechanics of the Alternity system are second to none and are straight forward enough to allow the GM to do what he is supposed to and tell a good story. Where this book falls down though are the specifics sections.

Alternity is a generic Sci-fi rules system which you can use to run games in the far-future (featuring spaceships, aliens, and whatnot) through to cyber-punk (near future with large corporations running the show and bionic implants enabling charcters to perform the impossible) right down to modern day (conspiracies, alien abductions, ghost, vampires etc...). So whilst the rules work for all these settings some of the specifics dont, for example the spaceship section is a waste of time if you are running a near future setting. Now this information isnt badly presented and I found it very interesting even if it wasnt going to play a part in my campaign. IMO it would have been better to leave these specifics to seperate volumes where they can be dealt with in detail.

So in conclusion, the Alternity system is good and you should play it, its a shame that this book doesnt live up to the systems potential.

An Essential Element For An Exciting New Game

A core rulebook for TSR's new science fiction roleplaying game, the Alternity Gamemaster Guide provides ideas and essential rules for running an Alternity campaign. Alternity brings flexibility to the sci-fi gaming universe, allowing the gamemaster to create any sort of campaign, from friendly exploration and alien contacts to gritty, grim wars of vast planetary destruction.

Use of this book assumes ownership and working knowledge of the Alternity Player's Handbook. It covers the basics of running a roleplaying game for novices, Alternity's special quirks for the experienced gamemaster, adventure and campaign design, and fast-play rules for the impatient. Sections deal with details of handling character creation, personal statistics and their effects, hero careers, and non-player characters. Tips are given for designing new hero careers, alien races beyond the five provided in the Player's Handbook, and a variety of vehicles, star systems, individual planets, spacecraft, and alien artifacts. The Guide contains many short tables for effects and characteristics, and for determining species lifespans (as determined by technology level). Brief optional rules are also presented for mutants, psionics, cyborgs, artificial intelligence, and "special effects" (any magic, miracle, or superpower beyond the other rules provided).

For players' displeasure there are statistics for 15 dangerous animals from good old Terra and 20 generic alien creature types to modify for every alien need. TSR fantasy fans will find an appendix of conversion rules for bringing AD&D characters, races, equipment, and spells into an Alternity game.

For ease in using published adventures and accessories, a sample nonplayer character statistics form with explanatory notes is provided. Also included are forms for ship design, ship status, and solar system design/record. There is an index of both this book and the Player's Handbook.

Alternity Gamemaster's Guide is an essential element in what promises to be an exciting new game in the science fiction game genre.
