I'm a big fan of Canada, and in the past, I've had good experiences visiting its major cities and skiing its slopes. I've also had the good fortune of having some dear Canadian friends. When I was in law school, one of them recommended I read "So You Want to be a Lawyer, Eh?" by Adam Letourneau. The clever title alone was enough for me to want to read it.

It is a very accomplished book - well written and organized. Canadian law students are lucky that it is available, and from what I've seen, it appears to be unchallenged as Canada's ultimate guide to law school. It would be a useful prerequisite for anyone entering law school in Canada.

Yet I would recommend it to American law students as well. The most I got out of it was an interesting comparative look at what our colleagues from the North have to suffer through. But, though there are some key differences in the Canadian and American systems, there are even more similarities, and as the book goes on, it's easy to forget that the action is taking place north of the border. Just because the title says "eh" at the end of it, it would be a mistake for American law students to think the book is not applicable to them.

A good, useful book for anyone who wants to be a lawyer; Canuck or otherwise.

Tales from the Country Pub by Brian P. Martin

This book has a very special place in my home library. I only found out of it's existence two weeks ago from my cousin, who lives in Royston, England but grew up in Barley. The village of Barley was the setting for one of Mr. Martin's stories "Record Breaking Regulars". My brother and I have enjoyed many a "Pint" with family and friends at the Chequers in Barley. The record breaking regulars of the Barley Chequers were in fact my uncle and cousin.

Throughout my twenty years in the U.S. Naval Service, traveling around the world, I have visited many Bars, Taverns and the like, but not one of them can beat the very special charm of an Old English Country Pub.

In 1996, Dr. Edwards was featured on the Sally Jessy Raphael Show for making a significant difference in a former student's life that was born with a physical disability, Nancy Johnson Miller. At the time of their initial meeting, Dr. Edwards was a first-year Physical Education teacher at the school where Ms. Miller was a 5th grade student. According to Ms. Miller, Dr. Edwards was instrumental in enabling her to move past her diability by accepting it and by being confident in using and/ or developing the talents that God did give her.
As a result of hearing about his impact on this student's life, Dr. Edwards wrote this book. Since then the two have created the Edwards-Miller Foundation for Physical Disabilities, Inc, to provide scholarships for physically challenged individuals to pursue a college education.

Provides an in depth and scholarly (yet highly readable), explanation of some of the more mysterious apocalyptic writings. James ("Mickey") Efird is something of a "state treasure" here in North Carolina: He has long worked as both a scholar/professor at Duke Divinity School, and as a teacher/special lecturer in numerous individual congregations. Not all may agree with his school of thought, but for me, it advanced my appreciation of the Bible.

"They Know Us Better ..." is a highly intelligent, thoughtful examination of the subject. A fascinating read for an historian or a casual reader. I look forward to more work from Dr. Brown.

This book was written by my grandfather and while I have not read it for a number of years, I still remember and use it's information on a regular basis. Dr. Tiedjens is also known for his research on hydroponic gardening.

I purchased the book for my granddaughter. She needed it for a course she is taking at the California College of Design. I aske dher what she thought of the book and she said it was easy to understand and enjoyed the illustrations.

In this incredible book, Loren Cunningham challenges and inspires, offering powerful real-life examples that illustrate the power of completely relying on God, and how we will come out on top by doing so. The key is that the "top" is God's top which is much better than our often selfish estimate of success. I would highly reccomend this book to anyone who wants more than the normal, boring, mundane Christian life. Walking daily with Jesus is exciting and challenging. This book will help you to maximise the excitement and boldly face the challenges. I highly recommend it.

Well, I bought this book for my History class. You really have to give this author some credit. He wrote the whole damn book by himself. Now that is quite a feat to undertake. Most textbooks have multiple authors, but Felipe Fernadez Armesto has the audacity to do it all by himself. That very respectable. And he did a pretty darn good job, if I might say so. I like how he included lots of maps throughout when writing about specific areas/cultures. I was going to sell the book, but I decided to keep it. I only read it once, and it was very interesting, so I'll have to read it again. I like books like that. That allure me into reading them again and again. Books that I possess, but they also possess me. LOL. Some say I'm crazy, but when it comes to good books, I am crazy about them. Get this book. Let it possess you.

Some textbooks make you feel like editing them before you can read them; they are overdone with long, drawn-out drivel, as though the authors got paid by the word count. This is not one of them. The information is presented in a clear, non-boring, progressive way that anyone can follow. It uses many examples to illustrate the message they are trying to communicate. (OK, some of the sample writings are dull, but whaddya gonna do?) It has a point-by-point section in each chapter which goes back over all the pertinent information, so that when you're writing a paper, you can be sure you've covered all the bases and you're not overlooking any part of the assignment. All in all, I'm very glad my professor chose this book to teach the class. It made me a better writer, and it didn't bore me to tears in the process.
