Decided to buy the MOC (MS Official Curriculum) for this test. Didn't find it worth the money. Seemed to be a longer read than the Sybex books (although didn't use the Sybex book for this exam so I can't say how it would compare). Text was well written and easy to understand. It was written for a newbie to network admin role. I was upgrading my MCSE to MCTS so was able to skim a fair bit. Review sections/work at the end were very good, however I wasn't able to find answers to the questions. Maybe I missed the reference to where on the web they were, but I looked a number of times, so if it's there it's not obvious. I eventually quit doing the review parts because I couldn't check my work. Books were fine, but in hindsight I wish I had bought Sybex.

Although the QUANTITY is high, I thought the QUALITY of the reproductions was low. This might be a better resource for art historians than artists.

This book was recommended to me all over the place when I wanted to know more about music therapy. As a parent of a child on the autism spectrum who was very interested in music therapy, I did not find it so helpful or hopeful, for that matter. Dorita Berger's book, Music Therapy, Sensory Integration and the Autistic Child was very good.

I thought this would be a helpful resource for Treatment Planning with children. It's more of a brief synopsis of treatments for specific disorders with little instruction on how to replicate treatment methods. The cases I've read are 2-3 pages and all have a happy ending which is frankly not realistic. There is little focus on the family system as a whole which is disappointing b/c kids don't live in a bubble, they are strongly affected by their environment and this book totally ingnores that fact. This might be a good text book but not a good resource for a therapist as far as I can tell...

Shakespeare As Prompter: The Amending Imagination in Theatre and Therapy

Repetitious ad nauseum

I had high hopes for Shakespeare As Prompter, especially considering the authors' experiences with drama used with patients in a psychiatric setting, but I was highly disappointed. The discussions are repetitious and highly abstract. Not enough connection is made between theatre and therapy -- which is an expectation set up by the TITLE!

Unless this is a required textbook for a music degree (as was the case for me), don't bother giving this textbook a second look. Although it covers the basics of music theory right up through in-depth theoretical analysis, the difficult-to-understand directions and extremely frequent misprints and incorrect artist credit given make this book a poor buy. Yes, this is the first edition, so many of these mistakes will be corrected (i hope), but Ralph Turek has a long way to go with this one. If you're looking a great, easy to understand reference on music theory, check out "Tonal Harmony" by Stefan Kostka and Dorothy Payne.

Just re-iterating comments from other readers...this book is outdated. Most of the code samples don't work and by extension the book is out of sync with the 1.0 SDK.

Based on depracated API

I started reading the book and thought it was well written. Unfortunely
it is based on pre 1.0 API. The example program is based on the Telephony
API that was withdrawn by Google. Wait for an update.

This book could have been decent, but instead it's just outdated. Too many things have changed in the SDK. I recommend waiting either for an updated version of this book, or a different book covering 0.9 beta, or better yet, 1.0.

Beginner's Guide to Traditional Japanese Embroidery

I have been studying traditional Japanese embroidery for several years, and I can only say that I agree "in Spades" with the other two reviewers. Instead, purchase Shuji Tamura's book. It is superb.

Abysmal
Helpful Votes: 34 out of 34 total.

Japanese embroidery is an exacting craft using precise techniques that must be correctly mastered. Either Ms. Gray never studied them or she is deliberately ignoring them, because much of the information in this book is wrong. Anyone who uses this book to study Japanese Embroidery will be disappointed in the results. And if he or she finds a real teacher, the reader will have to unlearn a great deal. Some of the instructions are really weird, for example, steaming the finished work a foot away from the fabric. This is not how it's done and for good reason. Save your money and buy Shuji Tamura's book on Japanese Embroidery.

Very Disappointed

When I saw this book I hoped for a wonderful addition to my library on things Japanese. But I am sadly disappointed.

Anyone who tries to use this book to guide them into the world of Traditional Japanese Embroidery will have a lot of trouble unlearning bad habits later on. I firmly recommend that anyone with an interest in Traditional Japanese Embroidery find a good teacher and use the standard text written by Shuiji Tamura entitled "Traditional Japanese Embroidery: Instructions for the Basic Techniques."

Although the photograph quality is excellent in this book, the content of both photographs and diagrams is poor. In addition, some of the text describes shortcuts which are not only incorrect, but may be damaging to your fabric. Please beware.

Do not spend your money on this book....all it does is shows you designs from patterns (that you have to go buy separately) that you make minor adjustments to them by addings trims, etc.. returned it immediately!

The same as Stylish Skirts

This is the same idea as Sew cool, Sew Simple: Stylish Skirts. You have to have the patterns to start with and it gives you ideas for adding to that. I didn't like the book and wouldn't recommend it to friends.

This book promises an overview and keeps that promise. However, I found that the author could have left a lot of commonplaces and irrelevant knowledge unwritten. Was it really necessary to mention Freud? I was repeatedly wondering if there was anything to be learned from that book at all, other than how to give no new information at all in many words. For example under "practical matters" the reader learns, that working conditions are not always ideal.
I was hoping for some ideas and inspiration I could use in my own work, but, sadly, I did not find that in David Edwards' book.
