This book covers all the steps necessary to get your VPN up and running, but it was written years ago and Microsoft now has management software, such as ISA, which didn't seem to exist when this book was written, and which makes setting up VPNs even easier than by following this book.

This is a very good introduction to BizTalk 2006 and its use of Visual Studio 2005. What I found to be lacking are references to others reference materials for a more detailed look in the two tools

A very succinct primer!

I think that Ms. Davis-Minik's book is an excellent EDI primer! It is very succinct, brief (in the best possible way) and easy to understand. The ten steps it "sketches out" to EDI success are valid deliverables for ANY EDI Project Plan. A very good value - I bought one for each of my team members. - Brian J. Cattle, Manager Inacom IT Sales & Solutions Architecture

This book is a good concise introduction to EDI for people that don't have the time or energy to sift through a few thousand pages. An excellent read for newbies to EDI.

A waist of $10.95

This is not a book, it's a pamphlet. Worse yet, the graphics are so bad some of the lettering can't be read. If I contacted a EDI consulting group and asked for information, this "book" is something I would expect to get for free!

This "book", or rather brochure, is a complete waste of money. There are better resources readily available (for free) on the web or at your local library.

Do not waste your money. Little information provided. There are much better vendor white papers on the web. You can not even read the diagrams. A copier could have done a better job of printing this pamphlet.

This book (if you can call it a book) is a total waste of time and money. It offers very little as far as anything helpful. You should spend a little more money and get a more comprehensive book.

Poorly printed and constructed. Limited very general information

A total rip-off!
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2000-09-23
This "book" is a rip-off! I strongly recommend you do NOT buy it. All I can think is that it preys on your inability to see what you are getting before you purchase. Shame on you, Amazon, for even having it on your shelves!

You get a set of badly photocopied pages stapled together. The information is less than scant (for example this is what it has to say on Physical Inventory Stock Counting: "Full count at a defined interval (monthly, quarterly,...)". That's it!) and in many cases is inaccurate.

There are no tools, no algorithms, no formulae. The graphics are straight out of Powerpoint.

You will learn nothing from it. Avoid it.

Had Martin Plonus spent more time proofing his text he would not have wasted so much of mine. My class found errors in the abbreviated derivations, examples, homework problems, and even one conceptual error. This book has far too many errors to be of much quantitative use. I would wait for a corrected edition to become available or simply use another text.

I have a BS in EE, pursuing a teaching degree in Physics. This text is being used for a Physics undergrad course in Electronics. It has several typographical errors in both the text and end of chapter problems in the first two chapters. In addition, the explanations are dense and unhelpful, and the derivations skip steps without explanation. This text should not be used; there must be several better written texts, even if you need to delve into those meant strictly for Electrical Engineering coursework.

Warning: this is a freshman paper, grade C-.
Helpful Votes: 55 out of 55 total.

This is seven pages of paper stapled together with nothing more than what I can learn from the brochures sent out for inventory workshop seminars. For example, this is the the total printed on one of the 14 pages: Getting Started: Define your problem areas, Create a team, Create a plan, Set goals. (Further insult: printed crooked on the page, no pages numbers.) A slight mention of EDI and barcoding. This is a sham and Amazon should not be involved in it. There's a need out there for information on electronic inventory management, but this is not it, not even for a rank beginner. No stars (Amazon won't go lower than one.)

seriously lacking in content
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2003-11-17
First of all, this book is overpriced. 45 dollars for 155 pages of actual book text (minus the index, etc) is ridiculous. Yes, I saw that it was a small book in the description, but I hoped that the content would be dense and useful...it was not.

This book was copyrighted in 2001, yet there isn't even a mention of HIPAA or ASCA. This book is best described as an advertisment for the use of EDI. It rambles on & on about how great EDI is (yes, we know that) but never gets into any meat about standards, communications, formats, etc.

Save your 45 bucks...it would be better spent on beer...

This 'Book' is so overtly simplistic, you'l kick yourself for having paid so much for it. The self-tests at the end don't work, and the text is obviously written for managers (first grade level, with spelling errors!). It does NOT deliver what the desciption promises and goes into NO detail at all. It is utterly useless.

This is a 114 page book that could've easily been written in a third of the space. It took only 20 minutes to read. It is badly edited, with several typos and bad internal references. A good deal of the information in it is out of date, and there is very little technical information at all. It seems to be a small expansion of a magazine article written for purchasing people. It is addressed to senior management, but I don't know of any senior management who would listen to the hype. It would be a good book to give a senior management person whom you don't like, but wants to know something about EDI.

The book is very poorly written and is lacking in content.

Grammer aside I found the content to be poorly organized, very fragmented and incomplete.
