Solid for a dictionary and priced right
It's hard to get too excited over a dictionary, but I needed something for my summer job doing e-commerce related work in the states. I've used it twice and both times it had the word I was looking for. I suppose I'm giving it 5 stars because it was only twenty bucks whereas other dictionarys were over fifty. Tech books are overpriced, so it's nice to see something useful at this price.

Excellent basics for understanding logistics and E-Business
The book provides an excellent point of reference for anyone involved in logistics or E-Business. I must note that I got a sneak peak at the book before it went to publication.
Although, I personally do not deal with logistics on a regular basis, I often have to interview people who are in the business. The dictionary provides access to these professionals' very particular language and as E-Business spreads throughout the world, it would be a good idea to own a copy of the book.
Nevalainen also slips some humor into a few of the definitions -- check out "cracker" -- which makes the read more interesting and some words more memorable.

Concise; descriptive where it should be.
I think the author intentionally spent extra time on some of the keywords in e-business that are often overlooked or misrepresented (e.g. commoditizing products, disintermediation). The ANSI X12 and EDIFACT appendix is invaluable. There are also several pages dedicated solely to supply chain, e-procurement, and EDI. Recommend it highly.

A Beautifully Done Horror Tale
Garlands of Moonlight is the first effort from creators Jai Sen (Writer) & Rizky Wasisto Edi (Illustrator), but you'd never know it by the finished product.

The story is deceptively simple: An isolated island village is plagued by mysterious deaths, which the local medicine woman believes are the work of a supernatural creature. Within the relatively tight confines of the book's 86 pages, Jai Sen makes the village come alive with vividly realized characters, and Rizky Wasisto Edi's art is simply breathtaking. At first glance, it looks relatively simplistic, but a closer look shows a very talented illustrator at work; He knows just how to frame a scene, and each character looks like a real individual. The book is printed in a small format, so the price is accessible, and rather than standard black-and-white, an eye-catching silver ink is used. The result is really something special to see. The story itself moves briskly, and I was surprised to see how much story Edi fits into these 86 pages without bogging the pace down with unnecessary dialogue and/or extraneous captions. The ending is downright chilling. I'll definitely be on the lookout for future projects from these two extremely talented creators!

Mesmerizing!
I can honestly say I've read this book through at least 6 times. Each time I open it, Im once again drawn into the town and its inhabitants. It's rare for me to get this captivated by an illustrated novel, but Garlands does it for me. The exquisite illustrations in black and white are so in tune with the plot line, that the characters seem to come alive. I can't wait for the next in this series!![.]

Moonstruck!
Not knowing anything about the premise of this book, I entered into it cold and found I could not put it down until I finished reading it. Jai Sen has written a captivating tale of Asian mythology, drawing the reader in and entrancing you until the very end. Each character came to life so much so that you were able to truly relate to their personalities as you read the tale. It takes an incredibly creative, soulful writer to bring characters to life so quickly in a story.

Rizky Wasisto Edi's artwork is phenomenal! The illustrations cast the right amount of detail without a lot of clutter, which would have truly distracted from the telling of this story. From a production standpoint, the black and white artwork with silver inking to bring out the details is outstanding! I have never seen that used in a comic before and it complemented the artwork beautifully as well as bring the mysticism of the story to life!

This is Shotopress' first book. With this type of quality story-telling and illustrations, they will undoubtedly have a long, successful publishing career.

Excellent guide to wineries in France
My husband and I wanted to do some time in "wine country" during our 1 year stay in France. We picked up this book at a local "english language library" and it was great! It really gives a lot of good information about the regions, the wineries, and the traveller's perspective on wine country in general. We've also used it extensively to document our pictures after the fact -- you know how you can forget the names of the 20 chateaux and 12 towns you visited! Well, this book provides enough information to put it back together when you are looking at a picture of a very pretty building which you cannot remember the name of.

It doesn't cover particular wines in detail (mentioning only a few), but for wineries, its a great guide.

very useful in locating wines and their vineyards
The Wine Atlas of France by Hubrecht Duijker (with support from Hugh Johnson) is the best way to start exploring the various famous French wine regions by car. After presentation of the history and a description of a particular wine region, the book lists the address and describes the important wine estates of the region. Suggested routes for driving as well as listings of the top regional restaurants and hotels, in order to recover from the wine tasting. Besides excellent maps of different scales to find your way round the book has superb pictures so that you know what to expect. Alternatively, you may first want to use the book to browse through the various wine regions. Even without using the book as a travel guide it is very useful in locating wines and their vineyards.

a must for travellers
This books contains informative descriptions, combined with detailed maps, and beautiful pictures, covering all the major wine producing regions of France. In addition, the author includes his favorite vineyards for each region. This book is a must for anyone travelling to France or just interested in learning more about the wine producing regions of France. Included in each section are a few selections on where to eat and where to stay as well. Having personally taken this book on my most recent trip, I can give it my hearty endorsement.

One of the Best Book on Microcredit!
This is an excellent book on microfinance - or microcredit, the practice of lending very small loans to low income individuals. This book uses simple language that can be understood by someone who is not a finance specialist. And this is important! It has very useful insights on microfinance and it will help anyone interested in the topic in general -either those who have to make credit decisions or those who have an academic interest on the topic but little knowledge of its financial implications. Another interesting book on the topic (not quite as thorough as Von Piscke in its financial analysis) is: The New World of Microenterprise Finance. Eds: MariĆ” Otero and E. Rhyne (1994, Kumarian Press).

Beyond electronic commerce
The emergence of electronic procurement, the UN/CEFACT BCP model and XML based transactions, have brought open EDI back into the monitor of e-business developments.

The stakes are high for those legislations that have not sufficiently embodied electronic means of B2B transactions. To those that have, though the challenges are ahead of them, since there have been no functional examples of legally binding on line negotiation models as yet that could facilitate true automated B2B transactions over open networks.

This book presents a superb overview of a subject matter that is here to stay and reviews potential solutions.

What's this elaborate illustration? "Horrible Hairy Hogs Hurrying Homewards on Heavily Harnessed Horses," of course. Graeme Base's astonishingly creative oeuvre begins with Animalia, the 1993 alphabet book that challenges the standard idea of how long reading a book for small kids ought to take. Animalia, like many of Base's books, is a vast puzzle, built with entrancing pictures that unfold into layers and layers of objects--all matched to each page's corresponding letter. Base leaves us stunned and amazed, painting reflections into the oddest surfaces and driving the urge to page-turn. This wonderful picture book works for 2-year-olds, 5-year-olds, and adults alike--something few other alphabet books can manage. --Andrew Bartlett

Beautiful book by brilliant Base!
Base's beautiful illustrations and silly alliteration make this book one of my favorite teaching tools. It's perfect for 3rd graders and up. The text will be difficult for younger kids to understand, but they will enjoy the bright colors and the sounds of the tongue twisters.

What makes this book so much fun is that the illustrations on each page are all items that begin with the same letter as each tongue twister. However, it's not always easy to figure this out. For example, on the first page with the letter A you will see a picture of a snake. But snake begins with the letter "s", so how can this be? Well, it's an Anaconda!!

You can keep your kids (or students) busy by having them be a detective and list all the items on a page that begin with that letter. This activity really requires higher level thinking
skills and is perfect for challenging your students.

Also, in every picture the author has drawn himself as a little boy. It's like a little puzzle on each page.

Kudos to Base. A brilliant book that finds the child in all of us--regardless of our age.

One of the Most Amazing Sights in books
"Animalia" is an illustrated book that brings you into a magical fantasy land full of animals. It features brilliant pictures of cats, birds, mice, unicorns and all sorts of animals. Each creature acts out interesting activities with gorgeous backgrounds. I am now sixteen, but I remember when the book recently came out, some six or seven years ago and I was amazed by the many sights of this book. Every page has "tongue twisters" for the letters of the alphebet, such as "Crafty Crimson Cats Carefully Catchting Crusty Crayfish" and "Lazy Lions Lounging In The Local Library". The pages also have pictures of many things that start with the letters. The lions look at books titled "Lassie Come Home", "Let's Learn Latin", and "Life In Louxembourg". The cats where charms and sit next to a pond, surrounded by a grand horizan where in the background you see castles and churches. Myself and my brother and sister loved looking for all of the things that started with C. We were also very amazed by the mesmorizing images. These illustrations look very lifelike, in fact, they look very much like the wonderful scenes children see in dreams. Reading this book with your kids is like walking through a great fantasy adventure in an animal world. It also serves as an excellent method to teach the alphebet to children. You will always enjoy reading this book with your kids and your kids will also enjoy reading and looking at the book by themselves.

From A to Z
The brilliance of this book is not just the way the illustrations walk into your living room or the way the colors drip right off the pages, but in how it grows in skills as your child grows.
From a small child giggling at the silliness of your words as you read aloud; to an older child weaving their way through the labrynth of puzzles and challenges, like figuring out the name of the picture in relation to the letter of the alphabet.
Graeme Base is a "versatile virtuoso of vociferous verbosity" in this linguistic and artistic pleasure for the entire family.
