Enlightening Advice
Not having heard of this author before, I thought this would be a boring lecture of financial advice hashed over from yet another point of view. I was wrong. Dave presents his ideas in a straight forward no-nonsense manor while keeping the audience entertained. While most of his material has a common sense approach, he backs it up with enlightening facts from a uniquely "fun" point of view.
I will enjoy listening to this CD set over and over again as I attempt to impliment his advice in my financial life. I look forward to other material from this author.

Deliverance from debt
This 3-CD set by Dave Ramsey is fantastic. My previous exposure to Dave Ramsey had been his radio show which I liked, but unfortunately the station that aired it in my area got sold and changed formats. So when I saw this set of CDs I immediately purchased them. It's probably the best money I ever spent. Dave Ramsey's books are good but sometimes a book doesn't stay with you after you finish it. Dave's radio show is great but you have to catch it when it is actually on. These CDs however are the best of both worlds: you get all of Dave's wonderful wisdom on personal finance available to you anytime you want to listen to it. I cycle through these three CDs in my car and listen to them repeatedly. CDs one and two are outstanding and will definitely get you angry about debt (that's what Dave is famous for), but the real magic probably exists on the third CD, the one about budgeting (aka "cash flow planning"). This CD really changed things for me because it made me understand that money is a fluid, active thing which must be managed. Once I understood that EVERY dollar of every paycheck had to be named (even if it was just to designate that you were going to blow a portion of it), I started really feeling like I had total control of my money.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend purchasing this set of CDs. I wish I'd had them 15 years ago.

Eu Anti-Dumping Law: Pursuing and Defending Investigations

The Best Overview of EU Dumping Law
This is an excellent book for anyone coming to the European Community's Anti-Dumping Regulation for the first time. It is also a valuable handbook for lawyers and exporters in non-EU countries who find themselves confronted with an anti-dumping questionnaire from the European Commission and have no previous experience of dumping investigations. The book is immensely readable, easy to understand, and sets out all the basic principles. Its absence of legal jargon is to be commended!

Understanding Women: The Definitive Guide to Meeting, Dating and Dumping, if Necessary

Getting real.
This book helped me to understand what I could and needed to do in order to get dates. The author really tells it like it is and it's about time, too. There are so many dating books out there that are gimicky and stupid, but this one is real and tells you how it really works. Best of all, it's by a woman, so she should know something about what they want.

Now I understand the whole pointy shoe thing
I am sure I wasn't meant to be reading this book, but you know how it is. You're sat waiting for someone and to fill in the time you pick up the nearest thing to hand. In this case it was Ms.Grish's book sat on a coffee table.

I'd seen it a day or so before in the hands of a couple of women who were sniggering over the contents while they enjoyed what I presume to be tall non-fat lattes at my local Starbucks.

My first thoughts were - here we go another book taking a swipe at the battered male. Well I'm probably not wrong - but I did have to laugh. I'm embarrassed to say I saw a bit of me in some of the unfortunate young men dealt a heartbreaking blow from well-heeled young women. Do women really meticulously plan out what they are going to wear before they put in the boot? It would appear so.

The observations are smart and funny and the book is dotted with cute little devices such as the 'relationship care label'. I you live life on the lighter side I think you'll laugh (and if you're a guy in touch with his softer side you may even choose to cry, these women are a clever bunch!) and your girlfriends will thank you for the tongue in cheek wisdom.

The three copies I've given as presents have all gone down very well. While my friends may not yet be wearing fuzzy angora to mess with male minds they are at least wearing well turned out smiles.

The Debtor's Guide To Dumping Collection Agencies

The Debtor's Guide To Dumping Collection Agencies
Just finished reading the "Debotr's Guide." It was quite revealing in showing me I needn't take anymore abuse for those few debt collectors hassling me both at home and at work. I especially found it useful in avoiding taking my credit problems to Consumers Credit Counseling Services. What a Rip-Off! I don't need another creditor addred to my TRW. How I wish I'd read this MUCH SOONER! I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting peace of mind without having to resort to filing bankruptcy!

Potent and Precise
The book is very potent for telling how to get rid of Collection Agencies. I cannot find another book that was very precise and helpful in existance today. Introduces the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and tells how, using this, one can assert their rights. The book also includes some basic coverage for dealing with Credit Reporting Agencies as well (though there are other books more well suited for this)

Dumping in Dixie: Race, Class, and Environmental Quality
Published in Paperback by Westview Press (February, 2000)
Author: Robert D. Bullard
Amazon base price: $29.00
Used price: $14.50
Average review score:

Excellent background for ecological justice movement
Dumping in Dixie is far more complex than the title implies. The book provides a detailed history of why the ecological movement failed to resonate with many disadvantaged groups, in particular, the African-Americans in the South. Participation was co-opted in part by lack of resources, and also by economic pressures. The threat of exit was effectively used by corporations that did not want to be subjected to restrictions on polluting activities. Business leaders quashed activism on the grounds that precious jobs would be lost. It was not until the 1990's that African-Americans became more involved.

Initially, the environmental movement was populated by the more affluent white American who seemed to be more concerned with the preservation of nature and clean space for leisure activities. Other motivations were less clear, and emerged with the maturity of the movement. Bullard details this history well. The only failing I found was the end of the book that tails off into solutions that seem impractical.
