This book is excellent
I have gone over several books on AD but this is the only one that provided me in depth information. This is not a book for the very beginners of Active Directory but is a book that needs to read.

Ok, I'm biased, I wrote it...
Active Directory is without a doubt the most important part of Windows 2000 and this book -- written entirely based upon the release version of Windows 2000 (not based on the betas) -- is a comprehensive introduction and reference to this important technology.

Building from the ground up, it combines step-by-step instructions to do complex tasks instead of dismissively telling you that you should do X (where X is undocumented elsewhere) and also teaches basic VBScript and integrates scripting solutions alongside point-and-click and command line methods.

The topics covered range from understanding and installing Active Directory through all the constituent parts to Group Policy, other Intellimirror technologies and advanced topics such as troubleshooting, interoperability and design issues.

I hope you enjoy the book.

RUMBA Access/400 for Win 95/NT V5.2 is the Best, Ch. 15
Chapter 15 - RUMBA

It's true that RUMBA Access/400 is the best connectivity software product for the IBM AS/400. Tony Baritz does a good job in concisely describing how RUMBA can be used as a tool to save a lot of time. Time saving features listed were Macros, Hotspots, and Quickstep. Basically RUMBA Access is viewed as a very powerful tool and more useful than just a 5250 Terminal and Printer emulation software with sizable, switchable, and movable windows. The RUMBA Router is an excellent solution to the limited PC Support router. It would be nice to see this Chapter updated to talk about Shared Folders, Virtual Print, ARPEGGIO Report Viewer, Data Queues, Submit Remote Command, PowerSync and QuickSync.

It would also be nice to see a new chapter on Cyberprise. Cyberprise promises to be a very interesting product for the AS/400 client/server world. Cyberprise essentially Web-Powers your Enterprise with solutions in the Intranet, Extranet and Internet space. This is an excellent way to leverage existing legacy technology investments and bring those applications into the e-commerce arena.

Excellent examples about stored procedures and ODBC32.DLL
This book talks about all of the different ways to get at the data on your AS/400. I got the the book, because at the time, I was trying to understand APPC with Client Access APIs. I ended writing my apps to use ODBC32.DLL and stored procedures because this book provided a great foundation. Mike Otey and the other contributors to this book know their stuff. Mike is Mr. ODBC in my book.

If only all programming books were this concise
Wow!

Thank you Mr.Levinson. Finally, a programming text that is easy to understand and relevant to modern application development.

This book is my new bible. I highly recommend it to anyone interested and capable of this level of programming.

I especially appreciated the examples, which were not only easy to implement, but presented a logical step-wise approach to the client/server model under .Net.

Great book for newbie or experienced
I bought this book because I had bought the boxed version of Caledera Open Linux 2.4 and was a complete newbie to Linux and wanted guidance...This book delievered just that and more. It helped me get Linux installed and working on my system and even connected to the net to check e-mail and update my system....I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn linux and tinker with it while reading and learning. Even though it's not the latest and greatest version it's still a good one to start with

Relevant info for anyone building technology of ANY form.
This book provides sound practical advice concerning the development and implementation of high performance technology. As Director of Technical Solutions specializing in data warehouses and data marts, I can tell you that these types of projects are traditionally a performance nightmare. This book provided great guidance on how to handle the challenges I face. Data warehouse and web application developers AND managers will benefit greatly from this book.

I liked it
The book is very interesting. I have never seen a power system book with so much discussion on the application of parallel/distributed processing in control center analyses. It covers certain topics which are of interest to power engineers who would like to learn more about issues that are being discussed by FERC, NERC, and independent system operators. It is certainly a blend of distributed processing applications and power system communication issues. The book could have covered more examples. On the other hand it may be difficult to assign numerical values to the topics covered by the book. The chapter on DG covers a lot of interesting stuff. I recommend the book.
