A good book on neural learning
After reading the table of contents of this book I came to know that this book is good in the area of neural learning. Forthmore this book is covering information on unsupervised learning & covering topics like local synaptic learning & hebbian learnig. The applications for feature extraction & sensory receptive fields are of my interest. This book is useful for UG & PG students. Thanking you,

Very good book
I am a second year undergraduate, interested in distribuited systems and computer networks. I read this book with pleasure. It provides the reader with some very important principles and fundamental knowledge about open distribuited systems. The level of backround knowledge required in order to be able to fully folow the topic is in the area of operating systems and computer networks and is rather on the basis of understanding general principles. After reading this book and understanding it fully, the reader will be able to delve moore deeply in the area without any problems or even to do some research work on its own. The language used in the book is rather simple which makes this book very useful for non-english speaking people.

Good Overview
The overeview chapters are the best that I've seen within an introductory PowerBuilder book. The chapters having to do with the Powerscript language are not as good as the overview chapters.

Overeall, a very good book for the beginning PowerBuilder programmer

Real-Time Systems: Design Principles for Distributed Embedded Applications (Kluwer International Series in Engineering and Computer Science, 395)

A useful book on time-triggered techniques
I found this book very useful. Despite the general title, Hermann Kopetz is mainly concerned with time-triggered techniques. This approach is becoming increasing popular with developers of real-time systems because it has been found to result in very predictable system behavior and, hence, can help to improve system reliability. This book was one of the first to be published in this area. It provides a considerable amount of useful information.

SAP R/3 Implementation

Amazon base price: $59.99
Used price: $23.00

A good starting point for beginners
The book gives a very good overall picture about an SAP project. It covers a lot of topics, and is excellent for people who are e.g. just coming from the SAP Academy, where many of the topics have just barely been mentioned.

For people with experience from at least 1 project, the book does not have so much to offer, because of the lack of details. Still, the chapter about people related issues and change management is definitely worth reading. Also the long lists of typical problems and success factors in projects are excellent - everyone in a project can use those lists every once in a while to check how well the project is going, and what kind of risks there might be.

So, for beginners, this is a very good and well balanced starting point. For people with more experience and who are looking for detailed technical information, this is not the book to read. But for those who want to improve their overall project management knowledge, the book is very well worth reading.

Great Info on Security Issues with Distributing Computing
This author does a good job of explaining and including the latest IT security applications & tools involved with the new concept & efficient network system of Distributing Computing; while pointing out that this new technology has a lot of weaknesses as far as vulnerability to outside attacks or other abuse etc. He also gives a lot of examples & information on how to best implement security measures to protect this type of network design & still allow an organization to take advantage of its benefits, but in a safer way that protects vital data & information.

Thelma & Louise Analysis
Sturken's "Thelma & Louise" is an excellent addition to BFI's Modern Classics book series. This analysis of the popular and conroversial film covers several important topics including: the hype and various reactions/criticisms of the film upon its theatrical release, how the film fits into feminist film theory, whether the violence in Thelma & Louise is worse than other films that were NOT criticized for their violence, what genre the film belongs in, Ridley Scott's directorial vision for the film and various motifs, how the characters change and why, what options these women have in a male dominated world, and what the ending signifies. Sturken includes quotes from several articles and interviews.

Understanding FDDI
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall PTR (27 February, 1995)
Author: Andrew Mills
Amazon base price: $74.00
Used price: $29.25
Average review score:

great overview of FDDI from computer science perspective
The book "Understanding FDDI" by Andrew Mills provides an excellent overview of the computer science behind FDDI networks. It describes the various components of the network, their role and significance, and even delves into the details about how they work with regard to the data bits and token signals. Used this book for research while taking a graduate Computer Science Networking course...it gave me all the information I needed, and then some. The only negative part of the book is the hefty price tag. Fortunately, the library had a copy.

A Great door stop that covers all the essentials.
I've referenced the book many times, including the 6 other books included on the CD-Rom in HTML format, which is very easy to carry around. It helped our I.T department setup all of the Microsoft BackOffice products from the ground up. We've used it as a reference point for most "How Do I..." questions. A very usefull reference and guide.
