If God Was Like Man: A Message from God to All of Humanity

A Real Eye Opener! Extraordinary!
If God Was Like Man really opened my eyes, and I am sure will leave many shocked, astounded, maybe even outraged at the Divine expression of individual freedom God has given humanity when he/she gave us all free will and free choice.

There are many messages that this book provides to serve us all at a time when chaos and discord has left us feeling vulnerable, thereby seeking to further control others. No, If God Was Like Man releases the control method over others, and places it strictly over our own selves.

This book opened my eyes to God's expansive view on issues that are impacting us all, both individually and collectively. We are fortunate to have among us a woman named Barbara Rose, who has an uncanny spiritual ability that will impact humanity for many millennia. We are blessed to have a Loving and understanding God to help us all through the difficult times in which we live.
If God Was Like Man is truly a new and different type of Bible for the new millennium. This book will definitely open they eyes of all who read it. It will help humanity evolve. It will also be remembered for centuries, as it deserves to be.

Thank you Barbara Rose for having the courage to speak out, or rather for allowing God to speak out through you. This book will serve humanity like no other. We are all blessed to have so many answers to so many questions. If God Was Like Man is a blessing and a gift. Rare, Essential, and Extraordinary!

God Speaks Through Barbara Rose
I was blown away by some of the messages in this book. What blew me away were how many prejudices I had, and how many ways I judged others because of their personal lifestyle that did not agree with the way I was taught a life should be lived.

I learned to not judge, but to live according to my highest truths, and to leave others alone.
This book helped me grow to embrace the diversity among humanity, rather than condemn.

I can tell from the many spiritual books I have read that the messages contained in If God Was Like Man clearly come from the Light. It is Divine Truth in its highest form, which will have a great impact on humanity.

Thank you Barbara Rose for helping humanity evolve. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, as I ordered 10 autographed copies from www.borntoinspire.com just to give to friends and loved ones for Christmas.

This book is way ahead of its time, and will clearly be a classic to be read for centuries. An outstanding read!

Astonishing Insight and Answers for Humanity
If God Was Like Man is a MUST read if you want to know how to move beyond the struggles, judgment, strife, and problems that are effecting all of humanity. This book brings rare and brave answers, and touches on topics that are highly controversial, and in vital need of resolution.
I was really taken back by the non-judgmental approach this book brings regarding the insight and answers it provides no matter what your views are. This book changed some old beliefs that I never thought would have changed, and that is a tribute to the unbiased approach this book provides. Barbara Rose did an outstanding job in bringing through this information. It goes way beyond just new information. It is a prerequisite to personal and global peace. HIGHLY Recommended!

Personal empowerment at its best!
This is a wonderful book, written from the heart and full of wisdom. The author shares her personal experiences with candor, and offers lots of insight on why we mess up our lives (or allow other people to mess them up for us) and how to turn things around for lasting change and real fulfillment. There's just enough of a spiritual focus, without going too deeply off the "woowoo" end. Highly recommended.

We All Have The Power
to change if we want to. A wonderful read with the guidlines to help turn Bad into good. Barbara Rose shows you how through her own experience. A self help book that works for me and I'm sure for all who read it.This is a book that allows you to explore yourself and truley learn your own INDIVIDUAL POWER.
As a nursing professional, I would highley recomend this book to help confirm ones self worth. Discover your inner spirit as well as the good things life has to offer.

Fantastic and Authentic
I was genuinely helped in so many areas of my life from Individual Power. I learned how to honor my own truth, what to do with relationships that have not been going well, how to create a new life based on my deepest dreams, and how to access the manifesting power we all have, as opposed to worry.
Barbara Rose brought "through" the messages in this book from God, and the wisdom is expansive, as well as profound. There are many topics this book covers, which you can see in the table of contents on this page.
This book will also help humanity collectively, as it brings solutions that are both ahead of their time, as well as practical, and needed.
I highly recommend this book if you are really looking for answers in every area of your life. This great book covers it all.

A Must Read for Every African-American
Arguably, the crisis of African-America is our constant struggles with the American criminal justice system, a system of incarceration that has resulted in an unprecedented number of African-American males in prison. John Elmore's book is a must read for every African-American and a treatise that should be in the home of every African-American family. This is a book of utility filled with insightful case studies, down to earth legal theories, and extremely helpful advice. Mr. Elmore's book is a survival guide detailing how African-Americans can avoid needless hassles and the serious consequences when standing (sometimes in hand cuffs) face to face with the American criminal justice system.

A Must Read Book
As a African-American prosecutor, I am often frustrated by the number of young African-American defendants who come into the courtroom completely unprepared and unaware of how the criminal justice system operates. John Elmore's book is a must read for anyone facing criminal charges.

full of valuable insight
This book is a must have/must read for anyone interested in studying, or participating in, the legal system. John Elmore's experience and insight are delivered in an easy to read way that makes the book an incredible resource for students or practitioners.

Dead spirits in medium Rosemary Altea's cosmos live out happy and fulfilling lives--dead children grow up, lost pets scamper in eternal bliss, and deceased husbands guide and protect their grieving widows from their invisible dimension. A rosier spiritual view could not be imagined. Whether you heard about The Eagle and the Rose on Oprah or found it on The New York Times bestseller list, you may want to pick up this fascinating autobiography by an English-single-mum-barmaid-turned-medium. The Eagle and the Rose is a convincingly sincere account of Altea's dreary childhood in northern England, where as a young woman she realized her psychic powers were not the insanity she feared. Gripped in a struggle with insecurity and stage fright, you'll cheer as Altea develops into a successful medium who chats with the dead as easily as you chat with the person in front of you in the checkout line. Put your skepticism aside and she'll charm you with her simple character, candor, and steadfast belief in a loving god and life after death--or as she puts it, "life after life." --P. Randall Cohan

One Of the best Psychic books I've ever read
As the title says, this is one of the best books I Have ever read. A Clarevoyant told me I had the psychic ability and it needed developing, he said I should read every book on mediumship I could get my hands on and this was the first book I read, it truely inspired my and answered many question. Rosemary is a wonderful gifted person and you feel as if you know her personally by the end of the book, she really opens her heart up to you. A must read for everyone, my husband and children would enjoy me reciting some of the storys from this book and it even got my 8 year old son interested in the spirit world

I now have a burning desire to contact my deceased son.
What a wonderful way to confirm my belief in life after death. I now am a believer that modern-day miracles are indeed real. Anyone who had any doubts must read this book. Rosemary has given the world proof that our loved ones who have passed away are safe and happy. I am confident that one day, with the help of a sincere medium, I will be able to contact my beloved son who died at the age of 19. Rosemary, thank you for sharing your gift with the world and giving us peace. Please contact me if possible.

For keeping an open mind..
When I was a young teenager I could read a book straight through without putting it down. I've been missing that and then when I came to reading this book it re-occured; I couldn't put it down and there was that wonderful feeling again.

Most of the time I am not on good terms with religion, it creates war if you ask me and therefor I also normally have a hard time reading books that mention God continously through out. However Rosemary has managed to get around my defenses when it comes to that and I could read this book openmindedly.
Reading openheartedly is quite easy for me, but keeping an open mind about things, can be hard sometimes. I found myself respecting her description of what she felt was a God, it was opened enough for me to think of it as something else, anything that my mind wouldn't despise so much. Maybe it helps that her descriptions of certain happenings reminded me of my own experiences. In particular I liked her description of the ether body and then when she went on to tie that together with the "out of body experiences" when you are looking down on your own body - I thought it was phenomenal how well she described it.
-If my words are different than the words used in the book, it's because I have read the Swedish translation of the book..

This is a book to discover yourself in, or to accept and respect yourself for who you are!

Mother-love is profound, however a baby comes into a woman's life. For Rose Lewis, the journey to motherhood begins with a letter to Chinese officials, asking if she can adopt from the "big room with lots of other babies." The infants in that room in China are each missing a mother, but Lewis is missing something, too--a baby. She travels to China to meet her new little girl and falls head over heels in love. Taking her baby home to America, Lewis introduces her to all her family and friends, and they begin their life together.

A touching love story, I Love You Like Crazy Cakes will warm the cockles of any new parent's heart, especially those who have recently adopted a child. It's an ideal story for lap-time reading, and will inspire parents and kids to talk about their own first "meetings," whether at birth or in an adoption agency. Jane Dyer, illustrator of the bestselling Time for Bed by Mem Fox, Oh My Baby, Little One by Kathi Appelt, and many other marvelous picture books, uses a pastel palette of watercolors to capture the tender moments between the American mom and her rosy-cheeked Chinese baby. (Ages 3 to 6) --Emilie Coulter

Average review score:

Loving, joyful adoption story - highly recommended
As the adoptive mom of a six year old adopted from China almost five years ago, I have been looking for a book to share with my daughter that could evoke the feelings we have about her special place in our lives. This comes very close. The story of this adoption journey to China rings true -- it is based on the author's own experience. Lewis' text is loving and joyful --tinged with the longing and sadness that is often part of adoptions. An essential element of this book and one that I especially appreciate is the author's mention of her feelings for her daughter's Chinese mother. We have read and re-read "I Love You Like Crazy Cakes" at our house and it has sparked very necessary and important discussions with our daughter. Dyer's lovely watercolor illustrations are charming --and add to the warm loving tone of the story - it's just wonderful!

Heart Warming, Beautifully Illustrated
I am just now beginning the long process of adopting a child from abroad. It will most likely take 1-2 years, and this book will help keep me going when I lose faith.

It is a treasure of a book both for people considering international adoption, and also for those looking at domestic adoption as well. A simple and touching story that tells about the joy all parents feel when meeting their children for the first time...be it through birth or adoption.

This was a truly heartwarming story. Short and easy to read, it's destined to become a bedtime classic.

The illustrations are lovely and dreamy...as a storybook should be.

All in all, a excellent excellent book.

An Excellent Addition to Any Family's Library
One of my favorite roles as a parent is introducing my children to families of many types. In "I Love You Like Crazy Cakes", my children can understand that sometimes Mommys and Babies become a family by being united via airplanes and adoption officials and guess what? The amazing love is the same.

I especially loved that the author shared the gratitude and love for the "other" mother who provided the gift of this baby into her life. Beautifully stated and at times, overlooked.

The illustrations must be mentioned also: they are stunningly beautiful with the emotions of the subjects literally entering my heart from the page.

An Emotionally Honest Journal of Determination
Donna Rose has documented, in "Wrapped In Blue", her journey through the maze of emotional and physical pain created by a physical gender that is inconsistant with the person she has truely been since birth. Written in a style all her own, Ms Rose brings her readers along on her journey with emotionally honest details of her life and her decision to surgically consolidate her emotional and physical gender into the woman she was born to be. "Wrapped In Blue" should be on everyone's "Must Read" list, transgendered or not, for all to better understand those feelings we all have to one degree or another but can neither define or explain to anyone, not even ourselves.

A Must Read
As my title indicates, this book is a must read for everyone, and especially those with ties to the transgender community. As a pre-op MTF transsexual, I found this book to be the most honest and straight-forward accounting on the subject to date. Donna's ability to offer up and express her most personal feelings and experiences is incredible. Speaking as someone whose life closely parallels hers in many areas, I can honestly say that bearing the most intimate details of my life to all is something I'd doubt I could do. Donna has the courage and stamina it takes to do this without editing or sugar coating the parts that we tend to keep most private and secure throughout our lives. Regardless of what the reason may be, when any person is placed in a situation where he or she has to do an in-depth self-examination of their very existence, the end result will usually produce some earth shattering observations. When dealing with topics such as gender identity and transsexuality, it can be an utterly horrifying experience. To take the information you've discovered in that self exam and offer ALL of it to the general public for their scrutiny takes an uncommon form of courage that never surfaces in a lot of us. Human beings in general, especially those born male, tend to covert our most private thoughts, feelings, experiences, etc., and hold them far from the public eye. More times than not, we keep the most private of this information away from even the people we're closest to.

Imagine having thoughts and feelings that you've been taught, and learned, throughout your life that are considered to be abnormal. Would you reveal these to the public? Most people would say never! Donna has taken the information she compiled throughout her period of self discovery, coupled it with her entire life's journey, and placed it out there for all to see and hopefully learn from. She brings to the forefront the simple and undeniable fact that we in general, are just average people who through a quirk of nature have been placed in an emotional and mentally exhausting battle for nothing more than our own true identities. This is a battle that most of us will continue to fight throughout our lives, even after the final physical changes have been made. My hat is most definitely off to Donna!

So, again, if you are transgendered, if you know someone who is transgendered, or if you'd just like to broaden your horizons and learn about a topic that effects more people than you could imagine.......this is the book to read.

After reading a lot on the subject I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this book has had the biggest and most positive impact on me. Going forward, I'll continue to read more on the topic, but I doubt that another book will affect me the way Wrapped In Blue has.

One of the most realistic depictions of gender transition
A book of this type raises the question of intended audience. It is of course of intense interest to anyone deeply interested in gender identity issues. How does it work within that context? But further, how does it speak to the human condition in total?

A number of reviewers have given the opinion that this is in fact a work of great interest and value to all readers. As a transgender woman myself, I don't know that I can speak to that issue. It was too intensely personal for me. But what made it so personal is that it is so real and so raw. And that, in the end, may be what elevates it to a work that does in fact speak to everyone.

Ms. Rose delves deeply into the most basic emotions that she feels, showing all the doubts, all the fears, all the struggles, all the hopes, all the joys, all the pain.

I'm told that of all TG people who begin the year long "Real Life Test" only about 10% complete the process. Ms. Rose's work clearly shows what the issues are which make it such a difficult path to tread.

In the end, it is a most inspiring triumph, the triumph of finding, accepting, loving and living one's true self. And that ultimately is a path that all people walk.

Did Genny Haviland poison Slade Gabriel to save her adored father's art gallery or did she help the acclaimed artist kill himself before Alzheimer's disease destroyed his mind and talent? Although billed as a courtroom drama, there's not a great deal of suspense here, but that may not matter to readers who prefer their mysteries with a romantic subplot. In this engrossing, erotic novel, the affair that begins when 17-year-old Genny meets and falls in love with the married, much older Gabriel, and then spans two decades is more than a subplot--it's the whole thing. While the outcome of Genny's murder trial is hardly in doubt, it's a good frame for a nicely told story of love, art, and obsession. --Jane Adams
Average review score:

Suspenseful novel
You will not want to put this beautifully written book down. Even without the sensual love scenes, each chapter tempts the reader by giving just a little more information about the intriguing characters and by raising many more questions. How do Genny, the daughter of an art gallery owner, and her long-lost lover, painter Slade Gabriel, get back together after 20 years? Why does he force her to do something she really doesn't want to do? What illness does he have that is so bad he wants to die? Why is Genny on trial for his murder when she says it was an assisted suicide? The suspense doesn't stop until the final chapter. Whether or not you're interested in the art world, you'll be interested in the world of these well-drawn characters. That M. J. Rose manages to turn painful topics, such as obsession and an emotionally distant parent, into an enjoyable well-crafted novel, rather than a soap opera, is to her credit as a writer and storyteller.

Riveting story that is perhaps the author's best to date
Is it exciting to watch the progress of an author . . . M. J.
Rose's first novel, LIP SERVICE, was a terrific erotic
thriller . . . her second effort, IN FIDELITY, was good too . . . but I must admit that I liked her latest book, FLESH TONES, perhaps the most.

This is the riveting story of a woman who is accused of
murdering her lover, a famous painter . . . or was it that she
helped him escape from a certain death that was slowly
eroding his sanity?

Sometimes, flashbacks can be disconcerting in a novel . . . not
here . . . Rose uses them to effectively fill-in the gaps of
the story that also features a suspenseful trial . . . and
there are some hot sex scenes, though not nearly as
many as were in her earlier works.

I also liked the fact that I got a behind-the-scenes look
at the art world, something that I knew very little about.

In addition, there were several beautifully written passages;
among them:
We had eaten, slept, now we ate again. Time was passing and
each moment was taking me further away from what had
happened toward what would happen.

I thought the abortion would quench some of my ardor for Gabriel, but it didn't happen. My body refused to obey my intellect. Around him, I was always ripe, ready. As time passed, I'm almost convinced myself a baby would have been an unwelcome disruption in our lives.

"And then one day he met this willowy, brown-haired hippie
girl who gave herself to him. No demands. No expectations.
And he fell for her. For the first time in his life. Christ. It was like feeling rain on your face for the first time, or discovering a new color."

Searing, and semi-erotic...
MJ Rose paints a portrait of an amazing bond between a man and woman. Genny and Slade, both products of the art world, meet when she is far too young to fall in love with him, or to share his passion. She misrepresents her age and background to be with him, and Rose skips forward, after laying the foundation, to Genny's immeasureable sacrifice for the man she loves. Rose is equally at home writing about art, death, the courtroom and the bedroom. She's one author I'll not soon forget!

Enjoy!

Rags-to-Riches Tale of Romance, Betrayal, and Revenge
I would give this book 10 stars if I could. In lieu of that, I'm recommending it to everyone I know as the "must read" book of the year. Not only does this have as romantic a love story as you could ever want, but it also features an epic sweep of Victorian London and late 19th century New York, a diabolical killer, and an all-consuming plot for revenge. At the center of all of this is Fiona Finnegan, an endearing heroine who lifts herself from the slums of London to become the queen of tea merchants residing in an upscale 5th Avenue mansion.

The story telling is so intimate and compelling that I did not want to ever put this one down. Fiona captures your heart when you first meet her clutching twelve pounds, two shillings, and a dream in a battered cocoa tin. When she finds her perfect love affair shattered by another woman's wanton seduction and a vicious murder decimates her family, Fiona's staunch character is tested to its limits. A barrage of even more tragic events leads her to a heart-stopping escape to New York and more problems to overcome. In addition to Fiona, the secondary characters are so well drawn that you feel connected to them immediately. Her loving father Paddy, her mam, brothers Charlie and Seamie as well as Uncle Michael, her dear friend Nicholas, and many others will capture your imagination. But it is Fiona's love for the unforgettable Joe Bristow and her steadfast goal of destroying her father's killer that will keep you glued to the pages and relishing every delicious moment of this story.

Definitely my cup of tea!
Wow! Finishing this book was the one thing I dreaded. The Tea Rose was a captivating, heartfelt, and engaging read. I was lost in this fascinating, atmospheric world of 19th century London, and would love to go back sometime and revisit the wonderful characters that Jennifer Donnelly created.

The Tea Rose tells the story of 17-year-old Fiona Finnegan and her beau, Joe Bristow. Fiona, a worker in a tea factory, and Joe, a coster in his family's produce business, have big dreams of opening their own tea shop one day. Saving money from every paycheck into an old cocoa tin, Fiona and Joe slowly get closer to realizing their dream. But things don't always work out they way they're planned -- the unionization of labor workers, a serial murderer on the loose, and a scheming buxom blonde play their part in destroying everything Fiona and Joe has worked for.

There is so much more to this novel, however, but I don't want to ruin the fun for readers to discover for themselves. There are many supporting characters that add complexity and texture to this story, and Jennifer Donnelly has done an exceptional job of bringing them all to life. The writing is concise and the perfect balance of dialogue and description. I loved every page, especially since there was always something new and exciting happening. The best book I've read so far this year, and most likely one that will be hard to top.

Loved It!
This book kept coming up on my recommendations, but I was hesitant to purchase it because of the size. I was extremely surprised that it kept my attention from page one right through to the end. I would recommend it to anyone who likes reading about this time period.

A good discussion starter on racial awareness for children
Since I'm an elementary school librarian who has written many reviews of children's books here at ..., M. Beatryce Shaw was kind enough to send me a copy of "Mr. Browne's Roses" for consideration.

This book covers a very important topic that should be discussed with all elementary age students, that of racial harmony and equality.

There are actually two stories told here. The main story is about roses that are various shades of brown being sold by Mr. Browne. The darker ones in the back don't get much attention, so they don't get sold very often. When Mr. Browne's children take care of the store, they mix up the roses so that they all get proper attention and look more attractive together, so more roses of all colors get sold.

The second story is told in the introduction and concerns an unfortunate incident of racial discrimination in the author's childhood that motivated her as an adult to write the book. Several adults that I shared this book with felt that Ms. Shaw may have provided too much information for the context of this book, but they also felt that this introductory autobiography was worthy of more attention in a separate volume. We all agreed that "Mr. Browne's Roses" would be more affective by reading it aloud to primary grade children with no mention of the introduction.

For this review, I read the story aloud to a second grade class with an African American teacher in our predominantly white school. The children had no idea what "color awareness" meant in the subtitle, but by the end of the story the were able to deduce that it had something to do with when "white people picked on black people."

The children were a bit distracted by the brown and white illustrations. They all seemed to want a little more detail, and a little more color.

While this book would make a good discussion starter for primary classes, especially around the time of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, or during Black History Month, a quick search here at ... revealed a number of titles from major publishers that appear to cover similar territory. These titles have been recommended by major review sources, something most school librarians are required to consider when making purchases. Some of the titles I found were:

Shades of Black
The Colors of Us
Black, White, Just Right!
Amazing Grace (about an African American girl, not the song)
Grandpa, Is Everything Black Bad?
Colors Come From God Just Like Me

I'd like to thank M. Beatryce Shaw for sending me this book and giving me the opportunity to review it, as well as take a glance at what else is available on this important topic for elementary school children. I wish her the best with her publishing and speaking career.

Mr. Browne's Roses should become a classic.
This easy-to-read, easy-to-understand book about color awareness is must class reading for teachers in the early grades to help children understand discrimination. The sensitive, unassuming tone of the book will appeal to children as they learn, through Mr. Browne's experience, the meaning of bias and how avoiding it can create wonderful relationships. As the book says "...the children see through the eyes of innocence."

I look forward to reading many more of Ms. Shaw's contributions.

Children are wiser than adults!
When it comes to accepting people for merit and substance, children are wiser than adults. Their minds are free from corruption and therefore able to absorb truth and kindness without reservations. Thank goodness for this book! It will equip those who wish to enlighten others with a tool so long needed; TRUTH!!!
