A Promise Delivered
I can not count the number of products and services that have come my way heralded with much hype and false promises of their value to the user. That's been especially true of self-help guides. You know the ones that promise you'll be a changed person, if only you buy the book and implement its recommendations. Well, at long last one of those books delivered on the promise. The foreword states that "you'll find these pages to be filled with practical, how-to advice .... step-by-step formulas for finding ...and keeping balance in your life." As a poster child for the insanity of the wired world, I really did not know how to break out of the strangle hold it had on my life. It became easier and easier to rationalize absolutely crazy behaviors related to my out- of- balance existence. The authors of Dot Calm were surely writing about me or so it seemed. I expect many of its readers will feel the same identification with the analysis of being over-connected, over-worked,over-scheduled, over-informed and ultimately OVERWHELMED. It's a book you'll read in one sitting and then reread many times as you take back control over your life. Thanks to the authors for delivering on their promise.

Dot Calming; Substance and Technique
An injection of humanity and sanity into the high tech frenzy many of us call work. While focusing on the technologically driven professional this well-written work identifies the struggles we ALL have in managing work and career while seeking to make time for our families and loved ones. Laid out in a problem-solution format, this easy to read yet deeply thoughtful book first explains the expectations and behaviors that contribute to our stress before offering both practical solutions and ways to implement them. Touching "testimonies" of the struggles and victories others have experienced are laced throughout the book. I have found that many such books either deal with the "philosophical" issues of balance in life, or tend to be endless lists of "techniques" for regaining control of life. Dot Calm is a well-balanced mix. A book you will need to reread and reflect on to mine its depths while it offers very practical and doable ideas for taking your life back from work. Be careful! This book could be an epiphany for you. It was for me, I highly recommend it.

Dot Calm: The Search for Sanity in a Wired World
It was great finding a book that offered helpful suggestions in a very readable style to the problem of staying in touch without getting overwelmed by our high-tech world. Best of all was the insightful nature of the book. The distinction between balance and congruence was so important. The authors recognized the reality of human spirituality and the blows it can suffer in our wired world. A fine book for anyone who has caught the wave of techno-communication but still wants to stay sane.

The Greatest Dot To Dot Book In The World Book 1
This series of dot-to-dot books are wonderful. As a child, I loved games and challenges. Dot-to-dots and mazes were my favorites. I had no idea these books even existed until I saw them in a Bits and Pieces catalog several weeks ago. I looked them up on Amazon and found there were four books. I ordered all four books from Amazon even though I thought I would probably be disappointed if they were too simple. Even as an adult, I still work dot-to-dots when I find them in magazines and newspapers, so I figured I had nothing to lose even if these books were for children. I'm in the baby-boomer generation, so I confess I like to revisit my childhood era occasionally.

Boy, was I surprised! When they came in the mail, I sat up until 5 a.m. the next morning working some of the puzzles. I am retired with 30 years in my local school system, so it wasn't like I had to get up early. After I would complete one puzzle, I would think I'll just do one more. Then another. Then another. I tried all the different types of puzzles. I am so excited and I wanted your customers to know how much I enjoyed them.

Even my 76 year old mother enjoyed working the puzzles. Like me, she was very skeptical about ordering sight unseen.

I hope to see future publications of new books. I look forward to seeing Books 5, 6, 7, etc. real soon.

Dot to Dot Book 1
I found my first Dot to Dot in the GAMES magazine. Boy, was I hooked!!! As a kid I loved doing Dot to Dot books. I'm so happy that I came across that puzzle. I went to his web address and downloaded the samples there, I made several copies to do until my three Dot to Dot books that I ordered come in the mail. I highly recommend these books to everyone. I can't wait until Book 4 comes out. Mr. Kalvitis, keep up the good work.

Wonderful Books!
I heartily recommend THE GREATEST DOT TO DOT BOOK IN THE WORLD series! The puzzles are challenging and very enjoyable. I'm a 66 year old grandmother and my husband and I enjoy doing the puzzles together and we recommend these well-produced books to people of all ages and abilities. Thanks for the fun, Mr. Kalvitis!
Sincerely,
Patsy Koehn

STOLEN DREAMS
I grew up with Mike in rural Michigan. We were both two young carefree lads exploring both the countryside and our emerging sexuality together. It was during the summer of 1952, cuddled up in my grandfathers old barn, that I first told Mike about the Internet and the humor that lied within. He promised me he would never tell anyone about our secret. And with that, he sealed his promise with a kiss. Mike not only stole my virginity that year, he stole my idea for The Best of Dot Com Humor.

Today I am a broken man because of this. Alone, afraid to love, afraid to laugh.

One Very Funny Book
Michael L Turnbull's approach to humor and its value in our lives is second to none! This is a must have book for the young at heart who enjoy a good chuckle. I am sending it to all of my friends.

New Addition to the Literary Canon
I will never forget it. I was dumbfounded. There I stood in line at my local bookstore, holding in my hands a volume authored by the rather overestimated Greek poet Silius Italicus (clearly not the book for which I had come) when who should stride through the front door but a person wishing to return Michael L. Turnbull's THE BEST OF DOTCOM HUMOR.

I was flummoxed.

The very idea that someone, after having gotten his hands on such a rare gem, would want to return this comprehensive tome for a quantity so ephemeral as Store Credit was beyond my comprehension.

As is typically the case in scenarios such as these, the man who didn't like Michael L. Turnbull's opus was exceedingly ugly. Hideous, in fact. I have made lengthy study of people who return Great Works, and my results are uncanny: the greater the genius behind the manuscript, the more unsightly the chap who failed to obtain satisfaction from it. It is rumored that the only person ever to have returned Mark Twain had three perfectly formed fingers protruding from his left collarbone. Well, this fellow must have made that one look like Lorenzo Lamas. With his pest-ridden mop mashed down over assymetric eyebrows, he aimed his eyes in disparate directions as he dragged his clubbed foot up to the counter. The woman to my right started to make gagging sounds when all of us got a view of his nostrils, which were grossly disproportionate in size. Meanwhile he wheeled around in my direction, came to a halt in front of me, parted his moist mouth, and exhaled, reminding me of the time in my life when I lived next door to a yeast factory. The old bird next to me dropped to the floor like a sack of canned hams, creating just the diversion I needed to pinch the book, race to the opposite end of the store, and purchase it at the alternate register.

I can assure you that I have been laughing ever since. BUY THIS BOOK!

The Dot People
Mr. Baker has written a book that can be used by adults as well as children. This is a great guide for Dot seekers. It is a light book with a positive message. I plan to have my children read this delightful book. My wish for them is to never to lose their own DOT! "Each of us has our own Journey in life. By knowing and following our DOT, we are able to stay on the DOT path." This message has become my inter voice. Thanks George!

Killer Book!
This is one of the funniest, most thought provoking works in the English language. Mr. Lamport deserves the Nobel Prize -- for Humor!

What a Great Book
This book takes you deep into the inner world of the rollercoaster lives of the early dotcommers. The protagonist's journey from disenchanted corporate lawyer in a fractured marriage to a pioneer in the Wild West of the early internet is compelling and illuminating.

This great book should be made into a movie
This is a thoroughly entertaining, intelligent and often hysterical book, written with a sense of irony and with great insight. The author ably weaves a story about the internet phenomenon and the absurd activities of twenty-something "paper millionaires" within the larger context of one person's normal struggles and experience of life. The book is full of wry observation and informative commentary. You will not be disappointed.

Some of My Best Friends Are Polka Dot Pigs
Published in Hardcover by W.J. Fantasy (01 November, 1997)
Author: Sara Anderson
Amazon base price: $12.95
Used price: $2.10
Some of my best friends eat porcupine pie
Some of my best friends are in love with the sky

Birds of a feather flock together? Not in Sara Anderson's exuberant, rhyming picture book Some of My Best Friends Are Polka-Dot Pigs. In fact, some of her best friends are whirligigs and moppety maisies or happen to eat purple daisies in this jazzy celebration of diversity and friendship.

Anderson's bold, colorful, two-dimensional illustrations--reminiscent of Varnette P. Honeywood's work in the "Little Bill" books--are lively and expressive. Simple images at the beginning of the book (the polka-dot pigs and the whirligig, for example) gather, intermingle, and dance together in double-page spreads that echo the cumulative rhyme. As the finale nears we are treated to a visual and verbal extravaganza: "Sticky feet can't be neat / marching ants climb your pants / dress in red stay in bed / porcupine sky / many hats wacky bats / Can't fly don't cry / polka polka polka-dot / whirly purple maisie." This jaunty, rhythmic read-aloud makes us want to twirl around and shout! (And have pineapple feet.) (Preschool to age 6) --Karin Snelson

Fun!
I found this book delightful and colorful!

So much so, that I recommended it to my Planetpals.com website readers and listed it in Earthzine monthly Ezine!

Can't wait for Sara's next book.

fun fun fun
catchy ..... alive and fun...fun...fun..a must have ...great imagination....

Polka, polka, polka dot, whirly purple maisy!
We checked this out of the library recently and since our 18 mo old son loves this book so much will be purchasing it. He says "hi" to the girl at the beginning, giggles at the pineapple feet and bopps along to the beat of the rhyme. It is as fun to read (perhaps even more fun to read) as it is to hear.

The Dot

A frustrated grade school artist, Vashti sits slumped over her blank piece of paper at the end of art class. "I just CAN'T draw!" she tells her teacher. Her teacher first uses wit, then subtle yet clever encouragement to inspire her student to go beyond her insecurities and become, in the words of a younger boy who "can’t" draw either, "a really great artist."

Peter H. Reynolds crafts a quiet, pleasing story in The Dot--one that will strike a chord with children who have outgrown the self-assurance of kindergarten and begun to doubt their own greatness. His marvelous watercolor, ink, and, yes, tea illustrations are appealing in a Quentin Blakey way, especially as Vashti begins to go wild with her dots. The delightfully open-ended conclusion will have readers of all ages contemplating how they can make their own mark in the world. Highly recommended. (Ages 5 to 9) --Emilie Coulter

Help your kids learn creativity
Reynolds does a fantastic job showing how someone can be creative or artistic and not even know it. I picked up this book at an elementary book fair first because I thought it was well written and illustrated. Second because I want to help my children realize they have hidden talents. And third because my husband is an art teacher in high school and his students are constantly telling him they can't draw.

This book not only teaches that anyone can be artistic but it teaches that creativity is not something only some of us are born with - it is something we all have inside of us, we just need to find a little bit of inspiration to bring it out. In Vashti's case, it was her teacher framing her dot and hanging it by her desk.

I recommend this book for anyone: kids, adults, teenagers.

A Must for Any Elementary Library
This book was delivered automatically in our Junior Library Guild order, and it has become one of my all-time favorites as a librarian.

When Vashti angrily stabs a dot onto an empty art class assignment, her teacher wisely follows through with a lesson in life by framing her dot for all to see.

This little bit of attention takes Vashti to new heights by allowing her to take that dot and see where it leads her. She paints all sorts of dots and gains new confidence.

What the story really teaches us is to try, and to start with the tiniest of dots to begin our journeys. As my library class discussed the theme, many of the kids brought up "dots" in their own lives, such as learning how to roller skate, sink a free-throw, or turn a cartwheel. We all have to start somewhere!

And as Vashti's teacher told her when she finished that first dot, "Sign it!"

This little book is truly an inspiration, and the kids loved it. I want my own copy!

A Delightful Book
Vashti thinks she's a terrible artist. Her art teacher challenges her to draw a dot. When Vashti sees her finished dot on display behind the teacher's desk, she decides she can do better. The beautifully simple illustrations add to this sweet book about finding hidden talents.

Dot and the Line : Romance in Lower Mathematics

An A+ from a student
We used this book in our math class. It was a wonderful explanation of how simple geometry works.
What the books about:
This book is about a Line, a Dot, and a Sqiggle. It shows you how the three relate, and differnt things you can do with them mathmatically, throgh the medium of a classic love story.
Its a wonderful book and i suggest you read it, even if your not in a math class. I also hear there is a short cartoon bassed off of it.

For all ages...
I first read this book about thirty years ago and still chuckle when I page through its plum, black and white illustrations that underline an understated love story. A book for all ages -- the twenties, thirties, and forties. As a teacher I've shared this story with fifth graders, college students in creative writing classes, and foreign students learning the English language. However, I don't keep this 1963 edition around for my students. I keep it for the tongue in cheek wordplay and illustrative battle between the line and the squiggle for the deep affection of the dot. An age-old battle.

The perfect gift
I bought this book for my husband for our first wedding anniversary (first is paper.) He loved it! A great story, wonderful drawings and just the right message. A great gift!

Is It Soup Yet? - Among Friends
Published in Hardcover by Andrews McMeel Publishing (01 August, 1998)
Author: Dot Vartan
Amazon base price: $19.95
Used price: $6.75
Buy one from zShops for: $13.73
Is It Soup Yet? has something to please everyone, from hearty Hamburger Soup for the meat-and-potatoes crowd to elegant Wild Rice and Shiitake Mushroom Soup for gourmets. Included in the 118 recipes are classics like Corn Chowder, Tomato Rice, and Seafood Gumbo, and adventures like Cream of Brie and Leek Soup. One chapter is devoted to soups made in 20 minutes, another to using a crock pot, and yet another to soups made from leftovers such as baked beans or spaghetti and meatballs.

This book has a mixed personality. Cooks in a hurry will be comfortable with some of Vartan's sensible shortcuts, such as using frozen vegetables or canned broth in some recipes. However, her use of garlic powder and parsley flakes may not sit well with more-refined cooks.

Some of the very best soups in this book are international choices like Chinese Sizzling Rice and a German Sauerkraut Soup. There are also highly creative recipes, including an Eggplant Ratatouille, Potato with Horseradish, and Chicken Passarelli, which contains bread-crumb dumplings.

Cheerful illustrations by Shelly Reeves Smith, a greeting-card designer, help make Is It Soup Yet? a bright and breezy cooking companion. --Dana Jacobi

A GREAT BOOK
This book is well written, easy to understand direction, recipes that are usually hard to find, an all around great book for soup lovers. The perfect cook book for those people intimidated by cooking!! I love this book, so much that I gave it to my mother in law and she too loves it!

Connecting the Dots: Making Sense of the Ufo Phenomenon

UFO Disclosure
Paola Harris has written a very readable book that documents her interviews with some of the leading lights in the UFO field. These are the people seen at UFO conferences around the world. Some of them are no longer with us and this is the place to read their words as spoken in their final days.

I have known most of these people at one time or another, the researchers, the informers, and the contactees. While I do not find all the informers or contactees as credible, there is a sufficient cross section of these in the book that there is something for everyone.

The answers given may not answer all of your questions, and some of the answers are at odds with other answers, but there
are many thought-provoking remarks by those who have been involved with this extraordinary phenomena.

One of the best books in this Genre!
Having read the TOP books in the UFO/Alien/ Government Cover-up Genre; "Unconventional Flying Objects" (NASA UFO Investigator for 30 years) by the scientist Dr. Paul Hill; my FAVORITE is "Alien Rapture" by Edgar Fouche (Top Secret Black Programs Insider) and Brad Steiger (Great fiction-soon to be a movie); "Alien Agenda" by the best selling author of 'Crossfire' Jim Marrs (Best reference on UFOlogy); and "The Day After Roswell," by Colonel Corso - I'd say this book is a MUST READ also!

Why would a respected, decorated, connected Military Officer (Corso) swear in a Court of Law that the UFO Conspiracy is real and that the facts and agenda in these books ARE TRUE? Why did NASA try to ban Dr. Paul Hill's book? Why were Fouche's home, car, and hotel rooms broken into? Why did he go underground after delivering his 'insider presentation to the International UFO Congress? Why has the great researcher and bestseller, Jim Marrs, been slandered? Why are there still questions about the deaths of Corso and Hill? Were their sudden demise a product of this conspiracy?

Why? If you read this excellent book and the others, you will know that they are indeed true. Two well-respected American Astronauts have come forward to proclaim they had seen evidence of the Roswell UFO crash and stated they know the cover-up is real. You be the judge. Read this book and check out the reviews of the other TOP books I have mentioned.

It really is all connected.
Connecting the Dots...Making Sense of the UFO Phenomenon by Paola Leopizzi Harris is a very welcome addition to my personal and extensive library on Ufological reading material. Paola's sensitivity and sincerity are evident in her interviews and writings of some of Ufology's most well known people. For those readers such as myself that are especially interested in the life of Dr. Michael Wolf Kruvant, Paola's exceptional interviewing skills helped us to better understand this enigmatic and important person in Ufology. I highly recommend reading this very interesting book.
